My first one is starting. I've heard horror stories. My bleeding after delivery wasn't bad.
How was your first PP period?

It was a bitch. All I remember is white knuckling my bed sheet one night in pain. It felt like my ovary was twisting or a cyst had burst. Coincidentally I was bf'ing at that moment. It was also a short period only 3 or so days.

DS1- it was heavier than my rest and crampy, but it wasn't as bad as I've heard others say. It lasted about a week. I had about 3 months of 21 day cycles before going to my normal 27-33 day cycles
I haven't gotten it yet this time around (much to my surprise)

Hate to say it but.....mine was heavy and long. I guess the only good thing is i had minimal cramping.

Mine showed up today. I was really hoping it would stay gone for longer than 3 months but I guess I'm not that lucky.

I had really really light bleeding at 16 weeks PP, so now I'm on the lookout for the real thing. 😒

I never went back to birth control after my first and didn't get my period back until I stopped breastfeeding. It was rough. Heavy, lasted longer than normal and I felt really tired and crampy. This time I got the Kyleena about three months postpartum and have been spotting for three weeks. So if this is my period, the IUD has really played games with it and it's the longest thing ever but not painful at all.

I think it varies person to person and when you get it back. With DS I didn't get it back til 15 months PP and it was actually not bad at all.

DS1 - Started up a month after my PP bleeding stopped. Yay me. It was heavier than normal but not bad. Only lasted a few days. DS2 - Started up a whole two months after my PP bleeding stopped. Clearly, my body forgets that breastfeeding should impact the return of my period. It was heavier than with DS1 and lasted a few days longer.
But symptom wise, meh. Nothing more than normal.

+1 to bf'ing and getting my period back right away. With both kids.

Kid1- came back 4 months PP, even with BFing. It wasn't that bad. Only had one due to getting KU so who knows how it might have been. Kid2 - directly to IUD, so again who knows. Kid3 - nothing yet. Still spotting 6 weeks PP. I did fear it was back, but nah, don't think so. Basically I'm one big question mark.

With DD I got my period a couple weeks after she turned 1 and it was SO HEAVY. I got out of bed and a lot blood gushed out and ran down my legs. It was awful
With DS I believe I got it back at 6 weeks and it was light and pretty short.
ETA - I was/am breastfeeding. But for DD I stopped at 9 months. I don't know why it decided to take 3 months to come after we weaned

ok so far, it's not a Carrie scene. However, holy clots.
We combo fed from day one, via pumped breast milk and formula. I really didn't pump as often as I should have, and due to some digestive issues, I stopped pumping at 7.5 weeks. My period came at 12 weeks. I was somewhat surprised it took that long.

You were right. Night 2 last night was bad. So much worse than the bleeding I had after having her.

I'm hoping not to find out for a while +1, especially after reading here how bad some of them were after an extended absence...

I got mine around 8 months PP (nursing). It was not pleasant but not the worst I've had. Worst was when I had lap surgery to remove permanent cysts from my ovaries. I haven't had another period yet.

This thread is giving me anxiety. I am 6 months PP and combo feeding but my period hasn't returned. I had a bleeding scare during pregnancy and some hemorrhaging during my C-section so the idea of heavy bleeding is still sort of traumatic to me. In the last week I've noticed that my libido is returning a little bit, and we also just dropped from 5 feeds to 4 a day, so I'm scared that my period is around the corner... ugh.

I'm only 6 weeks PP and EBF, so I'm hoping I have some time. However, does the awakening of your libido indicate that something is happening hormonally? I feel like mine is back, BUT I was on pelvic rest for like 90% of the pregnancy so perhaps I'm just super excited to be finally cleared for sex.

I got my drive back right away and still no period at almost 8w PP. with DS1, I got it back and lost it again by 5 weeks PP and my period came back at 7w. I didn't get my libido back until 18 months PP (at which time I got KU again so it was short lived)
