Well I read an interesting article about how babies may perceive their world. Apparently it's like they're tripping. This would certainly explain why lil fella finds my single strand of hair the most fascinating thing in the world and laughs out loud when I blow raspberries at him.

doodlemommy you're such a trooper. I would be a miserable beast now that lil fella has consistently been STTN. I am used to hiking and camping with sleeping bags and a thermarest. Definitely not equipped camping with a baby. An aiir mattress while camping does sound comfy. Maybe it's something to think about but we'd definitely need to get a larger tent to fit us all in. Taitai I was telling hubs that traveling with baby is so much easier than DS - he just turned 4. Some days are good and some days are not. cythe glad to hear your H is gradually getting comfortable. How long is he back for? and is he getting deployed again?

More meetings today. I’m was looking forward to this last week but am now sort of dreading it because we decided DD1 and DD2 will start daycare next week and so this feels like the last week of summer vacation. It’s giving me all the feels. DD2 has been at such a fun age this summer and able to do so much (DD1 was like 3-4-5 months in the summer and I’m not sure she so much as rolled 😂). DD2 has started clapping and it’s my new favorite thing - everything deserves a clap!

We took DD2 into the pool for the first time at my parents house and it was like 1000 new things thrown at her at once. Swim suits and splashing and different temperatures and chlorine and new toys...! She clung to me pretty hard that entire time but by the end of our trip she loved it. What a crazy way to go through life though till their memory and schema develop.

Another day of vacation fun completed- we had a good time out and about today, but it’s soooooo hot here. Like, I know we’re basically on the equator and I know it’s always hot here, but it just wears on you after being outside all day.
LO was amazing again - he is so chill and he travels really well. DS1 on the other hand...ugh....such a drama lama. The threes suck sometimes. We had fun today, but there was also lots of crying. At least we also saw many other parents in the same situation. So there’s that I guess 🤷♀️. Hoping for a better day tomorrow for DS1!! 🤞🤞🤞

Anyone else's baby suddenly start spitting up some after becoming mobile (crawling)? My baby can only crawl backwards, so I’m no help! I hope the increase in spit up is slow lived though!

I’m watching Beachfront Bargain Hunt and laughing that they call it a “tropical oasis with miles of exquisite beach.” 😬 When having clear blue water is a top news headline for a couple days, an exquisite beach it is not. However, would still take a beach house there.

Are y’all still using baby bathtubs? The last couple of times I’ve let him just sit in shallow water because it’s getting hard to keep him laid back. But he wants to stand and it’s so slippery.

Anyone else's baby suddenly start spitting up some after becoming mobile (crawling)? Yes, definitely. I think a lot of it is eating and them immediately wanting to crawl around, so gravity helps push everything back up (at least for us that's what it seems to be). I try to keep him sitting/standing up for a little while right after a bottle and it really helps decrease the spit up.

We haven't use a baby bathtub since he started sitting up on his own. He does try to stand up, but I'm usually able to distract him with a toy. Also, only slightly related, I also highly recommend this toy for bathtub entertainment: Yookidoo Bath Toy

I'm trying to do the same thing, but sometimes he squirms so much I just put him down and let him do his thing. He's never spit up much, so it caught us off guard.

Pumping in the bathroom with my hand held electric. I didn’t drive to our mtgs so I can’t even sit in my car and we’re just in a community type auditorium so... major props to the women around the world who do this more then once.

curmudgeon we stopped using a baby bath too once she could reliably sit. She was too squirmy. She spent a few weeks sitting happily in the big tub then a few weeks slipping and sliding and falling all over, faceplanting in the water and now she crawls and ‘swims’ (pulls herself along on her belly) and moves back and forth from sitting and is pretty adept. For those with 2-4 year olds dealing with the horrors of melt downs while out and about, DS is 4.5 and the last few months he’s been a whole new kid. He’s so good on outings to the store, he stays near me and helps put things in the cart. He’s even good at restaurants, he sits in his seat the whole time, talks with the adults, and helps with the baby. He still has a few freak out moments like when he doesn’t want to go to swimming lessons, but overall I think we’ve reached a turning point. So hang in there. Of course now the baby makes eating out hard because she doesn’t want to sit in the high chair for more than a few minutes. So I guess another 3 years until we can have a nice meal out as a family. 😭

Now I’m ordering all the bath toys on amazon. I searched for a non slip mat and saw items in the reviewers photos I needed too. I showed H the toy thatgirlrachel linked and he was probably more excited than DS2 will be.

I showed H the toy thatgirlrachel linked and he was probably more excited than DS2 will be. I first ordered that toy when DD was around a year old. It lasted right at a year (which is really good because our water is hard and will ruin toys like that). Since they're fairly inexpensive, I ordered a new one when we dropped the infant tub and now the kids fight over who gets to play with it! Definitely worth the money. I hope your DS loves it too!

It’s a Monday miracle, both my kids slept in! They both slept for 13 hours (straight through for DD and DS was up once to eat)! They were seriously behind on sleep from camping and so was I so it was glorious!

CoachTsWife Yes to randomly spitting up again after crawling. All my burp cloths around the house had been hidden away from disuse. curmudgeon 50/50 for us, sometimes both have a bath and I fill the tub a little when she’s in the there with her sister and then take her out and fill up the rest for the big. Sometimes it’s just easier to use the baby one. @bootsorhearts So what your saying is it will get better and then the little one will start becoming a problem? Eventually we will be able to eat out, I hope.

Taitai I hope your vacation is relaxing. DD1 is pulling the same shenanigans right now. 2 was relatively easy for us but 3 is 😬😳😬 curmudgeon we bathe DD1 & DD2 together so DD2 is usually content to sit and play. We’ve been doing the big bath tub for a couple months now. Hopefully some nice bath toys might entice him to stay seated!

CoachTsWife spitting up randomly here too and like thatgirlrachel said we try to keep him sitting up for 15-20 mins after, we usually read some books after. Even as a teeny baby DS would spit up soon after nursing/bottle if he's laying flat so we've gotten into the habit of keeping him elevated and sitting up after feedings.

bootsorhearts1, good to know that! I swear DS cries so much more than baby does. He just turned 4 and with all the attention on baby since he was born he's definitely been acting out. Just a month ago he started wetting his pants yet again only at home and not in school so after a couple of weeks of trying to get him back on track with everything imaginable including taking toys away we just started to not make a big deal at all and it stopped. I guess he wanted attention, even bad attention is attention! Anyways he was on such good behavior all week last week and this has never happened like a whole entire week straight up of course yesterday it all fell to pieces haha! but I feel like he's getting better at understanding consequences bit by bit. Hubs and I have been like so we get to go through this again with lil fella OY!!??

Taitai , what marvelous morsels are you and have been eating? Please tell me. ETA. Singapore is really hot and not just cos it's near the equator...it really really is hot there, it's a concrete jungle. I melt when I go visit. Too hot for me. Also I hope you get loads of shopping done! and if you can get pai tee - DS can totally enjoy it even without the chili sauce. The last time I made it was for the day after our wedding brunch. So yum!! ETA 2. I just remembered if you can find this - Pulut serikaya since you mentioned liking glutinous rice. You must have been SEA in your past life haha! A lot of foreigners find the texture of sticky rice strange. Hubs isn't too big on it and I think my BIL as well. Anyways it's one of my favs - steamed glutinous rice and custard. This isn't too difficult to make - just a little time consuming - hah! I might just make it when my sister visits. SaveSave

I loooove steamed glutinous rice and custard. So tasty. I think most westerners don’t like it at first, or are just meh on it, but once you get used to eating it, so so tasty!!! Yesterday we had an icky dinner - our nanny really wanted Thai food (even though we had only been away from home a whole 2 days 😂), and we ordered some various Thai dishes that were awful. We warned her it wouldn’t be like the food at home...I think she learned her lesson! Hopefully we find better stuff today. I will let you know once I get to the tasty Peranakan food!!!
