king26 I’d love to be all hopeful about STTN, but my 3.5 yr old still doesn’t- so I’ve resigned myself to getting little sleep for the next few years. It’s the worst. However- I have a theory that all kids have at least 1 or 2 major challenges. Some are great sleepers and others terrible. But they might make up for the challenge in another area, if that makes sense.

M only had 1 wakeups two nights down the beach in the pack n play so that felt good. We got home and last night was up 2 hours after putting her down then once more at 5:00. Wtf?! I so wish she would STTN too!

Yeah I agree that different kids have different challenges. Plus, I was a horrible sleeper as a child and I'm really not a good sleeper now which is half the problem. If I slept decently.anyhow and he was only waking once it wouldn't be bad but I struggle to.fall asleep so I can't fall asleep at night then after he gets up I'm usually up for at least an hour. It sucks. king26 I’d love to be all hopeful about STTN, but my 3.5 yr old still doesn’t- so I’ve resigned myself to getting little sleep for the next few years. It’s the worst. So J has 1 front tooth that has broken through and the other just won't come through. He's been so whiney. Poor guy was crawling today and slid on the laminate, fell, hit his face, and the tooth that is through started bleeding. He wailed for 10 minutes. I felt so bad for him. I don't know what to do for him. I need this other tooth to pop through.

Like I feed J once a night but plan on stopping that soon but have no clu3 what to do when he wakes up motn and can't eat.

king26 Sometimes he needs to use the bathroom, or wants a drink, or had a nightmare, or his eczema is itchy, or any number of other crazy things. Leaving him alone doesn’t work bc he screams until he throws up- so I fix whatever the issue is and snuggle him a bit. Then he falls back asleep.

king26 Mine wakes up bc he can't fall asleep without a sippy cup of milk (I brush his teeth after or just before), and then he wakes up to pee. He then wants another sippy cup of milk. I really need to grow a pair and cut the nighttime sippies, but he will scream and cry and tantrum and wake up baby h. Or he just wakes up scared of the dark and then I have to lie next to him in his bed to get him to sleep. However, we cut nighttime feedings with baby h and he just wakes, whimpers and then sucks on his paci and puts himself back to sleep. Really depends on the kid. Ds1 never took a paci.

And I now have a fat lip. J was giving me kisses which he always does then bit down on my freaking lip. I yelled and scared him then felt bad but it hurt. It's all puffy and brushed now. He usually gives open mouth kisses but he's teething so badly I guess he just bit down. Ouch!

E is cutting 4 top teeth at one time. She also is now cruising on everything and loving our little push walkers but is terrible at turning. 😂
H has been gone for a work trip since the 14th and isn't back until Friday night. So...sorry I've been absent. Hopefully it improves after he's back!
In good news, E has been sleeping through the night or waking up only once for about a week. I haven't changed anything so I'm waiting for it to end. FX she drops the one feeding and STTN all the time soon.

I’m just trying to survive over here. A full 10 days of essentially solo parenting with N waking up on average 4-5x per night was exhausting. And a recovering DH who was so pouty he couldn’t play or hold or lift or cuddle N was even more exhausting.
Thank god he got cleared yesterday to lift but not carry N- so he can help with MOTN wake ups again. I’m so wiped out.
We switched to trying Motrin at night last night- don’t think it helped. But N has had a fever on and off since Sunday, is super whiny, having diarrhea, and not eating lots of solids, and keeps shoving his fingers so far in his mouth he’s making himself gag. I think he’s teething again.
Plus, we redid the lighting in our kitchen and now I can SEE- which meant lots of cleaning bc I finally saw how damn messy it all was lol. We also got a magneic chalkboard to put in front of the fireplace and it looks so cute, I’m so happy - except Noah keeps trying to eat the magnets even though they’re big ones. Oh well.
Working 12h today. Already had a grande caramel frapp and will need lots more coffee. But it is my last day with my student! So yay for that!! She’s nice and I like her but it is exhausting having to teach someone every day. Sometimes I just don’t want to speak and just get my shit done quickly.
Sorry for all the sleep troubles and all the sickness. I don’t even know what’s happening. I feel like I’m in a sleep deprived haze. Sunday night was literally the worst night sleep N had EVER had- like worse than when he was cluster feeding as a newborn, worse than anything I remember. I just sat there and cried. Woof. I hope he never repeats that.
Sorry I suck at keeping up these last few weeks.

Shit addymac, I'm so sorry about everything. That is....a lot, especially with YH being on the mend at this worst possible time. I saw your thread about the MOTN wakeups. It sucks so bad when they are sleeping so shitty. I can't believe we are approaching a year and some of them are worse than newborns at the moment, lol. Hopefully N's wakeups are so bad right now because he is feeling crappy. Will you bring him to the pedi if he doesn't get better?

jt2378 thanks. I think we were considering it but I do think he’s overall feeling better but just KOKO with crappy sleep. 🤷🏻♀️ Last week was just too stressful for me with so much on my plate bc of DHs surgery and having to do so much on my own. I’m trying so hard to release it and let myself be grounded and not so stressed. It’s hard without good sleep though.

It has been raining on and off here all week, so I’ve been busy keeping both kids entertained mostly inside. Plus L thinks that since she’s walking now, she should also attempt climbing up all the furniture and toilets which is just insanity.

I was gone from 9 to 4 with J. We went to meet some of my friends. We got home and DH did not pick a carseat like he said he would and the toys J had out this morning were still all over the floor. Really? 7 hours alone in the house and no clean up?
His naps sucked in the car today so bedtime should be interesting. I'm hoping they are ok.

Yikes 4 at once and solo parenting? You are a rock star! E is cutting 4 top teeth at one time. Hugs addymac that sounds so rough especially since DH couldn't help you . 4 or 5 times a night is a lot. We did 2 or 3 wake ups for 2 weeks , I wasn't wlrkimg, and I was dying so I can't imagine doing it alone while working. I hope he feels better soon..well both of them lol. J is hard core teething It's his front upper tooth ( ome is im, ome has not popped thriugh) and he is drooling non stop and its gross. I said he bit me the other day, today he reached out to grab me and his finger went up my nose and omg the pain. I screamed, it was gushing blood, and it's so sore. He must have really scratched the inside. What a disaster.

Hugs for all who need them. I am too much of a melted mess to properly respond sorry! We are closing in to 100F and oh my gosh i just need a pool of ice!! Poor D. is having it rough as well.
I must have had a heatstroke lol as i applied for a job on Monday (mind you I am still on temp disability cause of the PPD and crap) .. got invited to an interview today at 6pm. 😳😳 It is a similar position I had before though at the cardiology dept instead of neurology. And for 24h a week, so should be easyish to combine with D. However I dont even have the job yet and am already anxious freaked out mess on how on earth I am going to do the whole work thing on top of everything while i just barely succeed on doing the sahm thing without falling apart. Meh. Maybe it is to soon but the job is just perfect for me and mostly those positions are full time which i dont really want no more, and at the hospital just 15m away from home by bike too..... so i just had to give it a shot. Aaaaargh

Honestly it sounds like a great opportunity, muscari- think of the positive what ifs- what if you ace the interview, what if you love it, what if the hours work out perfectly with giving you more you time! I think it could be a great thing. I know it might make you anxious but I would try to look at it as something that will Give you some you time, for something you are passionate about- so you are feeding your brain and your self, not just giving your all to D. I think it could actually help any remenants of ppd and give you something else to do and focus on. At least i hope it would. And if it doesn’t? And feels so overwhelming? Then Quit. You don’t *need* the job, right? So you can leave knowing at least you tried it out and realized that it was just a lot to juggle and you’d rather hang with D and enjoy the time without added stress. If it doesn’t make you happy, then nahhh. Good luck!!!

addymac Oh man, I hope things get better for you soon and you get some rest. If it makes you feel any better, I was reading my old journal for ds1 and he was waking up 5x at this age. Now at almost four, he's usually down to one wake up. muscari I think it sounds like a great opportunity. You might be surprised--you may actually end up eventually being less stressed doing a job you enjoy and having a very structured schedule. The transition will likely be hard, but it could be great once you're in the flow of things. And having more adult interaction might be nice too.
