DH is back from his trip this evening and the weekend weather looks good, very little rain and perfect temperatures.
What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Still up at my parents this weekend - this is my version of a vacation though and because we live 3+ hours away I love that my girls are getting to spend this time with my family. We’re just hanging out at a local toy store right now. The toys are much too fancy for us to buy but DD1 is having a good time playing here and we’ll ride the carousel in a little bit and get a hot pretzel. If the sun comes out we may even swim in my parents pool later.

We are leaving for camping as soon as DH gets home from work! He went in early so hopefully we can leave around 3:30ish and the campground is only an hour away this time (we are going to the mountains in August). Fingers crossed for good weather though. There is a severe thunderstorm and tornado watch in effect for our general area but storms are supposed to be very isolated, hopefully we won’t get any!

Just posted this in a GD thread but what do you guys think...?
DD is starting preschool in September, she turns 4 September 8 which is the Friday before preschool starts. The parent manual recommends sending in either store bought cupcakes (which I think are gross, I hate the icing), packed treats, or a non food treat. I don’t want her to feel left out because her birthday is a couple days before school starts (and she will notice that she didn’t get to). I was thinking of sending in a little treat for each kid like bubbles or smarties (Canadian so chocolate) with a tag on it on the Friday of that first week (i thought the beginning might be too crazy). Is that weird? What would you put on the tag?

doodlemommy I think that’s a sweet idea! We are kind of in a similar situation because class ends the week before DS1’s summer birthday and then he’s in a new summer daycare class. I’ve sent a store bought cookie cake for the class before. For the tag, I’d probably keep it simple “thanks for sharing my birthday” (even tho it’s not the actual day) or “Susan is 4!” DS has come home with trinkets from other kids with no tags but he always knows this was for ____’s birthday.

It is soooo hot. “Feels like 106” and 75% humidity is the worst.
Party planning with my dad is so painful. He doesn’t respond to texts, he’s hard of hearing so calls are difficult too. He won’t go on his own to take care of anything even if I give him a list. I took him Monday to order the cake at lunch and that’s the extent of my chauffeuring. My SIL is trying to help, bless her, but she lives an hour away so there’s only so much she can do. I am fine with ordering everything if he would just give me cash to pay for it. I am not about to foot the bill and *hope* I’m reimbursed.

doodlemommy I think that’s fine! I think either idea is good (bubbles or smarties). Usually DD1 can tell me without a tag if would be to much trouble for you but I know mine would notice she didn’t get to celebrate her bday so I’d probably do the same thing.

I just found out that my favorite historical romance authors is getting her series of books turned into a Netflix original by Shonda Rhimes. I can hardly contain myself over here.

Julia Quinn and her series of books about the Bridgerton characters. The books themselves are definitely light reading, nothing too intense
