F and I will be driving to Ontario with my parents and then flying home the first week of August. F will be almost 8 weeks, and the flight is just about 2 1/2 hours. Any advice?

I flew with my DS when he was 3 months old. The flight scheduled during the time he was normally asleep was absolutely fine. I made sure to nurse/feed/give him a paci during take off and landing. I also wore him through the airport and on the plane. I gate checked his car seat.

We fly with M next week, she will be 9 weeks. 12hours flight. At that age it is totally fine, make sure you nurse during take off and landing to help release the pressure from their ears. He might also want to nurse more or less constantly because thirsty, planes are very dry. Did he get his vaccines yet? I would not fly without vaccines..

I flew with DD when she was 2 months, it was a 90 minute flight maybe? I agree with everything Madymoiselle said. I used a diaper bag as the baby’s carry on (they’re allow s one on most flights) and packed extra clothes and a bottle of pumped milk, just in case. But she fed and slept the whole flight.

This is the easy age for flying, generally. We went to and from cross country at 2 months with DD. Bring more diapers and extra clothes for you and him. The pressure changes always seemed to make DD poop.

Larzmini has been on 5 flights so far, starting at 4.5 weeks old. I agree with robot that this is a very easy age to travel. I nursed or have a bottle on take off and landing and she slept the whole way unless she had a wet diaper. She has had two 2.5 hour flights, two 1.5 hour flights and a 5 hour flight. One thing we learned is if you are bringing a car seat and stroller we felt it was easiest to counter check everything and wear her on the airplane/through the airport but ymmv.

Adding that a change of clothes for you is indeed very important, lol. I learned it the hard way 😂
And yes to keeping car seat and stroller in the airport and gate checking them. Then I just wore her at landing. You usually pick those up at the large item carrousel.

Thanks for the advice. I'm an experienced traveler, so really the only thing I'm nervous about is the fact that I'm going to be doing this by myself. I have a gigantic stroller and it's a tiny prop engine plane usually, so I'm actually going to leave it home and bring my ring sling. We're not going anywhere where the stroller would be better. I'll definitely pack extra clothes for the both of us!

Even so I find babywearing easier than a stroller in an airport. I’ve worn baby through security in a woven wrap and a buckle carrier without taking him off.
