DD didn't sleep...again. All the coffee please. I never in my wildest dreams imagined I'd have an almost 6 month old who still wakes up multiple times at night. Do I need to sleep train?? +1! But my 6 mo wakes up to eat. Pedi said I need to increase his milk intake during the day. My 2 year old still nurses at 3 am every morning. Around 6 months I'm sure my pedi said something similar... but time sure flies lol. I keep saying that I'll work on cutting out the motn session and then I don't.

I sleep trained at just over 6 months because the multiple night wakings were literally killing me by means of insanity. He's been an excellent sleeper ever since!

For my toddler the pedi had me cut out his MOTN feeding at maybe around 9 mo. I'd give him a bottle of water and he stopped waking up for it. But he's always been a good eater. My 6 mo is being picky about transitioning to formula and I can't pump enough out for DC.

My 6 month old also hates sleep. He's up 2-6 times a night. Last night he was up every 1.5 hours. I'm convinced he's only goal in life is to make me die a slow sleep deprived death.

He only takes 6-9oz from the time he wakes up to when I get home from work (so about 7:30/8-3). I think he uses MOTN feedings to make up for it. I think I'm going to try and introduce sippy cups to him to see if he'll take more milk from those vs the bottle.

By 12 sets I mean 12 place settings. So enough for 12 people. Plus I think a few different serving platters and bowls. Hard no to the donate. Those sets are mucho expensive. They are Kate Spade. It was a family tradition that H's grandma would by all the grandkids fine china for their weddings. H's grandma passed away a couple years before we got married so his mom (she was in charge of the estate) bought some as a wedding gift from her. Then his mom added a few more place settings and then also one of his aunts. I got to pick out the design so I actually really like them so I hope to use them some day.... maybe when I am a Grandma myself

My MIL would know if I got rid of something even if it had been packed away for years. She would sense it... +1 She would know/find out if I sold them. I already have plans for a few things to donate/trash that I feel guilty about. At one of my wedding showers hosted by my aunt all the guests decorated wine glasses with paint. A couple of them turned out pretty cute but the rest of them are pretty sloppy/tacky/ugly. They all have been in a box for 5+ years. I might save a couple and donate the rest. If anyone asks about them.... I broke them over the years because I love drinking out of them so much

Amazon actually has some pretty inexpensive storage things for fine china. I think it will take up a lot less room but they won't be as protected. Hopefully deboxing all my other kitchen stuff will help free up some space. I bought 8 storage totes and am about to get started on it!

LOL to 12 sets vs. place settings gooselover2012. I was picturing 12 boxes of full china sets, like one for every season for 3 years. I was like, 1. wow that's a lot of china from MIL, and 2. where on earth are you storing all of these?? lolol

We have this from IKEA for displaying my good dishes from my wedding. They aren't china and are considered everyday plates at BB&B but they weren't cheap so I consider them as fragile as china. www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70371771/

I'm very very spoiled from my first kiddo! One day at like 3 months he started sleeping 8+ hour stretches. Sure he still had/has bad nights, but on the whole is a good sleeper. DD sleeps like a newborn. Up every 1-2 hours all night long. I know 6 months is still young, but man. I wish I realized at the time just how great I had it with DS at this age haha. My BFF had her DD five days after my son was born. She and her H were sooooooo happy when their kid started sleeping through the night at like, six weeks old. I... had to really restrain myself from punching her in the face sometimes (kidding, obviously. mostly). The fact that I had a terrible sleeper plays heavily into our decision to be OAD, quite honestly. Though if we do wind up changing our minds and having another, I've told H we're sleep training as soon as it's considered humane. My DD was born around the same time as 2 of her cousins. Both those cousins now sleep through the night consistently and it makes me irrationally ragey.

We don't have a formal dining room and just a small area off of our kitchen where our table is. I have the table mostly pushed up to the wall (its round) so that there is more room for DD to run around. Once I see how much space opens up in my storage room I might have to explore options like this. Thanks!

My air conditioning went out last night. $500 later and it's back up. Between my hospital bills for delivery, not getting paid while on maternity leave and now this, 2017 has been rough on my bank account.

My 30 min mtg this morning turned into 2 hrs. Fun stuff. I should run out during lunch and fill up my gas tank. But I hear the heat index is 101*. I could get an iced coffee or something. Hmmm. Get the iced coffee! And I suppose the gas, too. I went out too late I didn't get the coffee. I really wanted to try mcds frappe. But storms are rolling thru and the temps are dropping.

We got hit with more unexpected medical expenses too. My dh was unaware that his PPO that has a $3500 deductible which includes his prescriptions. His gout medicine for 1 month (2 prescriptions) was about $500. I'm like please nothing more this year.

So the irony is that literally yesterday I was thinking "well since the air conditioning didn't go out I think we will do ok this month". Then I come home last night and it's out. The universe HATES me.

+1! But my 6 mo wakes up to eat. Pedi said I need to increase his milk intake during the day. I'm pretty sure part of DS2's shitty sleep is that he really hates the bottle. He only takes 6-9oz from the time he wakes up to when I get home from work (so about 7:30/8-3). I think he uses MOTN feedings to make up for it. I think I'm going to try and introduce sippy cups to him to see if he'll take more milk from those vs the bottle. I was looking at the patient portal notes for DS2's 6 mo appt (DH took him) and the dr wrote "introduce open cup at 7 mo". I'm like how did my NB get so big so fast?!? (she's not into sippy cups).

I used Ferber after doing a lot of research on the options. I liked that it provided a very specific plan. It worked extremely well for us. FWIW, I was still breastfeeding and continued to do 1 night feeding until DS dropped it on his own around 9 months.

Sleep training: Dh actually started handling MOTN wake ups for sleep training purposes around 9ish months for the girls. It worked fairly well even though I was still nursing. He was kind of the 'are you hungry or just pissed' tester. Eventually they realized Dh wasn't gonna feed them and they stopped waking up. Of course if they were hungry or super pissed, I would nurse.
