I’ve been up since 430. 😜 The internet went done, and then both kids woke up and refused to go back to sleep. I’m chilling at work but about to walk over to target and spend some money I don’t have. We finally got window coverings up. We went with cellular shades and I am really happy with how they turned out. Very modern looking. Next up: decide if we should buy a 2nd AC unit (current one is fine but undersized so we can cool the downstairs or the upstairs but not both), new siding (old siding is that Masonite bullshit that is crumbling) or a new roof which has less than 5 years of useful life. Unless we win the lottery we can only do one of those things his year. 😞 cythe go back to sleep! Quick!

Good morning! I'm back from the Prime Day haze. I actually got out relatively unscathed. I spent $26 and got a huge tub of butt paste, a Green Toys truck for DS (he's obsessed with anything with wheels), and a 3 pack of Carter's shirts for DD (that happen to perfectly match some skirts she has). Not too bad.
DS is getting so fun these days. He and DD play together so well for the most part, when she's not bullying him. I'm also an obsessive planner, so I'm starting to think about his first birthday and what I want to do. How is it time for that already?!

The practical side of me would definitely say the roof but it sounds like it has a few years left in it, so maybe thats not something that needs to happen this year. It definitely needs to be in your short term plans though, because roof damage is so awful and can really ruin a lot of interior space. Do you live in a really hot climate? I would hold off on the second AC at this point since we're halfway through summer. I guess that means I'd vote for new siding! Siding also instantly makes your exterior look totally new which is always fun.

DS1 built this giant “candy stand” out of his magnatiles yesterday, complete with a little window to pass money/candy through. He said it was only open in the middle of the night. Which was not a joke. He woke up at 1am and woke us up to come buy candy from him.

It's DS1's birthday. We were up for the day at 6:22 because he woke up and was "too excited about being grown up to sleep any more". We are planning a trip to build a bear for the count the candles birthday bear. I have $50 cash, so that's our budget. I might make one for DS2 since DS1's will only be $3.

Here's my birthday boy and his "little" brother. He's going to be outweighed within a year for sure.

cythe, that's awesome that she's sleeping for you. These last couple of days lil fella has also been sleeping in till like 730-45 which I am not quite liking. I am weird I like to get the day started earlier. It also means like you said throws everything off schedule. He's also started being such a bear and not doing down for naps and sleep easily...also eating has been a challenge since this weekend.

Anyways... he's down for his nap finally and I am having my 2nd cuppa now and checking to see the damage I did yesterday. It wasn't too bad. Got the usual tub of Aquaphor, diapers, 2nd car seat mirror, DS' multivitamin. I really wanted to see if there were any deals on kid sized air mattresses so my sister doesn't have to schlep hers over when she visits next month plus we'll be needing it eventually. Oh well - I'll keep looking out for the next few weeks. This week is going to be a busy week with pureeing up several vegs. I don't know how I am running out of almost everything at once. I just cut up some butternut squash and sweet potatoes to steam later tonight then I've got green beans and peas next. I am hoping hubs will over cook the zucchini tonight on the grill again so lil fella can have some of that lol! but DS then won't eat it - he hates overcooked mushy vegetables. I don't blame him.

curmudgeon, that's too funny about DS1. I love it though...They can be exasperating at times but the things the they come up with and say and do. Too funny!

bootsorhearts1 , so glad to know you managed to move and don't have to do that crazy commute anymore. How far away from work are you? My commute is like 45 mins each way but it's driving through country road mostly and it's farmers and their big equipments that causes jams so it really isn't all too bad for me. We thought of cellular shades but I prefer the look of fabric so we have roman shades and drapes throughout the house. I still have to finish sewing up another set of drapes. I am a drapery girl.

curmudgeon, since you mentioned about 1st birthday. I've been thinking about it now. I may just ask DS what cake we should make for his brother since lil fella wouldnt care. This is crazy I still have DS' Daniel Tiger I made from gumpaste from his first birthday! I joked to hubs that we can recycle it. I have to fix a few things which had broken off though. I will probably use marzipan again since it can be eaten and it will be gone and I don't have to feel guilty about having to toss or keep it.

rebeccabunch how are you doing? also I started watching Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I like it. Hubs and I also started the latest season of Suits on Prime. I can't get over the fact that Meghan Markle is married to Prince Harry. So weird to see her in the show.

I tried to decorate a cake in fondant one year and it was a fail. As far as a party, I keep thinking about it but no plans or themes come to mind really. I wish we had real fall here and not just extended summer.

It was a cool rainy morning but now it is warm and sunny! After naps I told DD i’d fill up the pool. Tonight we need to start getting some camping stuff organized because we leave on Friday for DS’s first camping trip!

duskymonkey yes and I’m loving it! I went from a 2 hour commute to 10 minutes, 15 on my bike and 20-25 running. I can even stop home at lunch and if I forget something it’s NBD to go home and get it.

Busy day today - DD1 had the follow up from her sleep study last month. She does qualify for her tonsils/adenoids to be taken out per doctor and insurance people. Surgery is scheduled for late October because H and I have very little time off left due to DD2’s birth last year.
After the appt, I drove the girls up to my parents for a long weekend. Tomorrow is the annual get together with some college roommates. We only get to see each other and everyone’s kiddos about once or twice a year and I’m really looking forward to it.

I was sad when the season was over. I’m now watching Killing Eve. It like it! It’s very different from other shows. Lots of cool international settings too.

Build a bear was a huge success. The birthday bear was out of stock, but we used the $15 off coupon and got a bunny for $1.50 and went back after lunch and got DS2 a teddy bear. They let us use the coupon again, so still a $3 total for 2 animals.
