Does anyone know if the sleep regression is supposed to happen 4 months after the birth date or is it adjusted for due date? It hasn't hit us yet but it could at any time if it is birth date. Most milestones, IME, happen adjusted for due date. My son in particular hit every milestone 1.5 weeks ahead of time (he was 10 days overdue).

So far, in my experience, Lyra's milestones/leaps have coincided closer to her birth date than due date and she was 2 weeks (13 days) early.

Am I the only one who is too stupid for Wonder Weeks? I read the app and its all this gibberish about smooth transitions and multiple transitions and what? I don't get it.

I can see how it'd be intimidating. I just like the info and watching the little videos to "see" what my baby sees after each leap.

So the consensus was is that I should expect a sleep regression at any point. We still aren't STTN so maybe it won't be that bad.

I wasn't sold on it, either, but Beeb certainly does seem to follow the pattern, if a little on the early side. It's mostly nice to know that she's going through a leap and I'm not momming badly, hahah.

So..this may be a UO, but I'm totally against keeping track of "leaps" or anything like sleep regression patterns like that. I think it's kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy? With my first she never had any sleep regression, never. I think a lot of the other people on my BMB got so worked up about the X month regression that they stressed themselves out about it and any little change was attributed to that.
I probably just jinxed myself and next week when Elle turns 4 month she'll probably be a disaster.

Oh I want/ed to read the wonder weeks book but I never spent the money to get it. Does it still pay or is it only about the first few months?
Idk if we had/are having 4m sleep regression or not. Nights and everything has been totally screwed up since we left for vacation. I think it's straightening out since we're home, but nights are unpredictable. After putting him to bed one night he'll sleep till 9:00, the next night till 1:30, the next night 12:00, next night 5:30. I'm just hoping this is the worst we get.

cornpop not an UO with me, I totally get it. But I also get that when something is happening it's nice to know that's it's normal because at that age most babies are going through xyz. I'm just assuming that the fact that DS's sleep is messed up is partly because of travel but also because he got two teeth and rolled over. Isn't that the theory behind the book?

I don’t completely follow wonder weeks/leaps but when L seems to be more fussy or has a change in sleep pattern I look at them and they often fall in the window for a leap. For him the leaps seem to be more in line with his EDD than his actual birth date (he was two weeks early). He is 20 weeks now and might be going through the 4 month sleep regression. For a while he was consistently giving us an 8 hour stretch of sleep. The last two nights his longest stretch has been 5 hours; however, this could be due to his vaccinations which he got on Tuesday too so who knows 🤷♀️ I guess time will tell.

I have no interest in the book, just the app. Whoops.
But yeah, the premise is basically about "hey, brain stuff happening! if your baby is fussy or something in their personality/temperament/schedule changes, it could be this!" more or less.

I was dying when it described about babies being mesmerized by a dog vomiting. Like... what. I mean I get what they’re trying to say, but... interesting example. I do like using for a general milestone check. But I’d definitely have to keep away from the stormy/sunny week chart because I’d see the storm approaching and start to get anxious, even though he’s almost never been “stormy” according to that pattern.

This is pretty much me too. Except until something goes weird and I freak the fuck out and then chalk it up to wonder weeks or a regression or whatever. So really. I use them as it’s convenient for me.

But I will say that the last two nights have been very inconvenient for me so If this is a sleep regression it can kindly fuck off now.

I just back home. I survived a 16 hour drive alone with two kids....barely. The yesterday, DD wasn’t listening and was running off on me when we stopped for potty breaks. Today, I ended up in stand still traffic for 1 hour and 20 minutes. DD was great and watched Trolls on my iPad. J screamed for an hour straight. I think tonight I’m going to relax, grab a wine cooler, and maybe watch a movie with DH.

I tried Wonder Weeks with DD1, but she was an awful baby so nothing lined up. 😂

E has been a shitty sleeper for like the last 3 weeks. It didn't even occur to me that this could be the 4mo regression. I hope it is though, cause that'd mean we're almost through it. Right? Right?! I'm dying over here.

I tried Wonder Weeks with DD1, but she was an awful baby so nothing lined up. 😂 DD1 just never slept. Ever. She should be a genius if that whole “bad sleep leads to smart kids” thing is true. I think wonder weeks and leaps are like palm reading and fortune telling. Just enough truth that it seems like they might be right yet vague enough that they’re never really wrong. They seem to help make sense of something no one can really understand or control. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I shrug at the Wonder Weeks and leaps, but I'll ascribe to the 4-month sleep regression in particular being legit. That's at least based in biology - baby sleep fundamentally changes at 4 months, and some babies (like with any developmental skill or milestone) handle it more gracefully than others.
I was pretty darn smug about DS1's sleep at 3.5 months, then with no explanation whatsoever, it went to shit, basically until 7ish months when we finally caved and did CIO. He was waking up every 45 minutes all night by that point.
Speaking of...DS2's sleep has started to get dicey. He's been wanting to nurse a LOT more during the day too, so maybe it's a growth spurt. Please let it just be a growth spurt.

Fffc: I put E on her belly last noght and she sttn. She's rolling and can do it herself, but she was wearing a particularly fluffy diaper and got stuck on her side. So I gave her a little nudge and she passed right out. 11-7, baby. I feel like I could run a marathon.*
*But lol, no, not really.

both girls up before 6. ugh. i tried to nurse dd2 and put her back down but she was just ready to play. i hope this is just a random thing because she’s been sleeping until 630-7.
a coyote was walking up our street this morning and dd1 was crying because we wouldn’t let her go out and pet it.

My birthday is this weekend. To celebrate, I'm going to the beach with a friend tomorrow. We're both leaving our kids home with our husbands!
I AM SO EXCITED
We're getting an early start, packing a cooler of subs and boxed wine, bringing BOOKS (I legit haven't read a book in 6 years lol) and stopping at a vineyard/winery on our way home for a tasting.
My girlfriend just texted me this: "OMG IM ALREADY PACKED"
We are a little too excited to be getting away from our children and husbands for the day, LOL
