This isn’t happening in the Bunch house. With my boys, it naturally happened but much later.
This baby seems to be on constant high alert to any changes in her sleeping environment lately so nap and MOTN transfers have become difficult.
For those that have mastered drowsy but awake how did you achieve this magical feat?

When I removed the swaddle I knew it was time to get him To go to sleep solo. I always change diaper, put in sleep sack, offer the breast (if he’s not hungry he won’t eat) he starts “bitching” as I call it, then put him down give him his lovely, wubbanub and crank the mobile music without the mobile. At first I would give him 2-5 mins of crying then go in there, pick him up calm him down, repeat lovely, wubbanub and music, rinse repeat. At the beginning I gave in a few times and nursed him to sleep. It took 5-7 days but he finally got it. I still might have to go in once but most of the time he talks, plays with his wubbanub and lovely, when he’s ready he rolls on his side and goes to sleep. I have not accomplished this MOTN, He’s also up a lot. 😞 I might try this weekend, I am just nervous to wake the toddler.

Those are good tips pippiann extra credit for the adorable picture! We don’t lovey yet and don’t do pacifier for night sleep. I may need to rethink.

Anyone else still swaddling? 🙈 We just stopped 2 weeks ago (at 5.5 months) but she’s still sleeping in the Rock n Play. DD3 was swaddled until 6.5 Months. 😬

With ds1 I never managed that. This time when he is cranky tired at bedtime I nurse him and if he is still awake I sing him a song and put him in the crib and turn on the sound machine. I'm not stressed about picking him up if he fusses a bit.

We are in the crib for all sleep but still nursing to sleep and swaddling. Everyone has their own sleep crutches to remedy!

Ugh, I wish I could tell you. I started when he was brand new at home so I think he just got used to it right away. The paci helped. But ya he has been doing that since like 3 weeks old? Sound machine + paci was the winning combo for us.

Anyone else still swaddling? 🙈 AHH STUCK IN A BOX J sleeps with a sleepsack at home (nap and overnight) and is swaddled at daycare. He is outgrowing that swaddle and I will replace it with a sleepsack

For the past few weeks, J has been going to bed (for overnight) drowsy but awake. He has his thumb and his pacifier (and is in a sleep sack with a sound machine one).
Honestly, I didn't do anything to get this to happen. It may be a fluke and not last much longer. But I will take it while I can.
BUT ... for naps, he still hates napping at home.

If my kid slept I probably wouldn’t change a thing. 🤷🏼♀️ if they sleep, swaddle, rnp that child, Until it doesn’t work anymore.

We just started drowsy but awake here this week. Haven't found a trick to really share I just feel he's getting it naturally. Obviously all kids are different so I'm not much help. Wishing you all a restful night sleep.

We only stopped swaddling because the baby’s room was too hot. We do a drowsy but awake bedtime. The only thing that works for us is to make sure he is very very tired when I put him down. Lately we have been eliminating his last nap of the day. He was napping around 4:30ish and bedtime became difficult. We try and extend his early afternoon nap as late as we can. 3 is usually the latest we can get him to sleep to. That way come bedtime he is nice and tired. At 5:45 I take his helmet off to clean it and his head. At 6:20ish I get his pjs ready and/or give him a bath. At 6:40ish I give him a bottle and put his helmet back on. By then he is very very tired. At 7 I bring him up to his bed. I lay him down with his paci and lovey and I walk away. I walk down the stairs so I can still hear him but he can’t see me. Usually it requires a few paci replacements and I have to lay him down a few times because he is trying to crawl around his crib. But after a few of those, he knocks out.
