Pregsomnia is starting. Last pregnancy I read the entire outlander series. Have you read anything good? Looking for recommendations ... my tastes are varied. I like Sci fi, thriller, historical romance, mystery, memoirs, etc.
Currently reading the Handmaid's tale ... but it's not that long and well, I'm a binge reader. So I'll be done with it in less than a week :/

I am reading "Yes, Please" by Amy Poehler. I think she is hilarious and I am loving the book so far.

I'm reading "the Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss for the second time. It's a fantasy series (only two books out so far), and the story telling is just amazing. I get completely sucked into their world as soon as I pick up the book.

I'm currently reading Triptych by Karin Slaughter, it's good so far. She also wrote Pretty Girls which was really good but a little gruesome at times. Chevy Stevens writes a good thriller too.

I enjoyed The Red Queen series, it's a dystopian fantasy type.

I am reading "Yes, Please" by Amy Poehler. I think she is hilarious and I am loving the book so far. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. I originally read it on my Kindle, but got a hardcopy for my birthday and have been slowly re-reading it for the past week and a half. I also love her and it.

I love Amy Poehler. I've read Tina Fey, Mindy Kahling, and Chelsea Handler already. *adding to list* I need to see if my kindle is still alive. I'm pretty sure I was supposed to upgrade the software at some point and just didn't. laurensc927 how gruesome? I've read a lot of thrillers so blood/guts doesn't usually phase me.

Have you read the Game of Thrones series? (Also known as A Song of Ice and Fire.) It's good and long so you won't run out of material for awhile. But it's also not finished and may never be, looking at you GRRM.
What are your thoughts on comics? I've been reading a lot of those lately. My favorites at the moment are The Wicked and Divine, Saga, and Y: The Last Man. They all have compendiums, so you don't have to worry about hauling around a bunch of tiny books.

AnnPerkins yup I've read all of GOT. Just waiting on our friend lol. I've thought about a graphic novel! But haven't gotten further than that. I really enjoy the tv show Izombie and it's based on a graphic novel. What are the comics about and are they OK to read on a black and white kindle?

grumpycat, hmm...I've only read comics on a tablet Kindle. I'm not sure how these would translate to the reader only version. I feel like there would be a fair amount of zooming in involved. The Wicked and Divine is about 12 gods from different religions that come back to Earth every 98 years. They take over the bodies of teens and young adults and basically become rockstars. The catch is that they only live for 2 years. The story mainly follows one of their groupies turned friend. Saga is the story of two beings from warring planets and their forbidden love. They have an illegal child and are on the run from everyone. Many side stories ensue. Y: The Last Man is about the trials and tribulations of Yorrick, the last man on Earth, and his pet monkey, the last male animal. He is on a quest to find his long distance girlfriend while every nation in the world is on a quest to find him.

grumpycat I pulled this from a review "the women are graphically described by their body parts, what happens to them, and inventive ways to torture them" others describe it as disturbing violence. I was too intrigued by the story to put it down but I've read that others get to the part that describes how the women die/are tortured and had to put it down.

I read a fair bit, but haven't read anything really good in a while. I get a lot of hand me down books, so I just read what I get! Anything that is too good, I can't put down and fall asleep, and that's a problem for me. I think I'm the only person who pretty much hated Amy Poehler's book. I think I just prefer a more direct story line, not an all over the place telling of random events. If I can't anticipate what's coming next, I don't really care to pick it up the next day. Also, she is much funnier on camera than in writing (in my opinion). So there's a reverse recommendation

If you like historical fiction, check out the Moreland Dynasty series by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. It's currently 35 books (I think) so that should keep you busy for a bit.
