I know a lot of us are finding out genders soon or already know. My question is when do you plan on settling on a name? H and I TTC for three years so we've had the name talk once or twice. Probably a year before we conceived, we decided on Augustus Glenn and Sylvia Marie. Now these are still our top picks. Baby is a BOY so Sylvia will have to wait. We both are still at least 90% sure of Augustus but is it too soon to commit? Are we going to waver? Has anybody else already picked the name? Are you sure? Are you telling people? Why does everybody ask me about the name so much?!

We are pretty sure. Daphne was our runner up when we were prego with L, and we said we'd name a second girl Daphne, so we are 99% sure and have told our parents and very close friends our thinking.
I would say only tell people if you really aren't going to change a name you love because of a weird reaction or two.
We were set with L's name by about 16-18 weeks and had told people as well. We had a minor change when husband was like "are you sure she isn't Daphne?" and that was it.

People are just nosy! I agree with only sharing now if you don't mind hearing the reactions. I've found that people like to have opinions before the baby is born, but are less judgmental of your choice once baby is already here and named.
Assuming the bloodwork confirms a boy, we have our name already, it was our boy name option the first time around so family and friends who knew our choices won't be surprised. And it's a family name, so even if someone doesn't like it, it won't change our minds.

We've got nothing for a boy. DD was easy since we had agreed on the same I wanted since I was like 18. I'm still waiting on inspiration for baby boy.

I had this huge long post all typed out but proboards ate it.
In summary: We picked out Ns name from the start but I wasn't sure he would look like his name. So we had a second picked out just in case. We kept them a secret. Both went along well with his middle name, which was my father's name. If this one is a boy I have a completely different name picked out that I currently love. The second name choice for N isn't even an option for this one. Once we find out with this baby we will focus on that sex. I do have a girl's name I always loved but I'm not 100% sold on it.
Since we will know the sex of this baby we will keep the name a surprise again. If you don't want people to make comments on your name then keep it a secret. Even when you tell people the name and how much you love it, you will be shocked at other's reactions. All that matters is what you want.

We've had names picked out for a while. H is Captain Republican and it was actually a deal breaker that if he ever had a daughter, he wants to name her Reagan. I actually like the name on its own so I had no problem with it.
Since we are officially Team Blue, the baby's name will be Neil. It's part of my maiden name and we thought it was a nice way to honor my family.
Not that H knows this of course, because he doesn't want to know the baby's sex. It's going to be a long six months keeping it from him, LOL. (Luckily we've taken to calling the baby Nugget so as long as I keep using that in front of H, I think I'll be OK...)

I've got some serious PAIF anxiety that is keeping me from doing any real baby stuff, but an iphone notes list for names is the only thing I've "allowed" myself to do so far. We're team greens so I've got two separate lists. I add names when I think of them, and then every few days I run down the list with my husband and he eliminates the ones he hates. Right now our biggest hang-up is whether or not to give the kid a middle name. We're hyphenating the last name which will be a mouthful, so I say "no." My husband has a shared family middle name that lots of the cousins get, and he wants that. However, the baby's in this belly so I'm going to win this.

Also, if your husband makes it to delivery without knowing that baby's sex, I will eat my hat!

We're pretty firmly team green. We have decided on our boy name and our girl middle name, but I go back and forth between a few different girl first name options. DH thinks we've decided, but I'm pretty sure we'll wait and see what she looks like, if team green turns pink.

Even his parents changed their minds about knowing (they didn't want to and decided better to know now than to have someone slip and spoil it on Facebook or something). MIL seems to think H will change his mind but H is pretty damn stubborn Edited to add: I feel like I should open a pool. How long before H knows? Place your bets now!

With DD we had a hard time agreeing on a name. When we finally came up with one we both liked we didn't tell anyone else in fear that they would ruin it somehow and we would be back to square one. DH is super picky about names so we will probably do the same this time. We're hoping to do an elective US in the next few weeks to find out gender since he will be gone for my AS. I think we will use the boy name from last time if team blue and probably have a nameless child if we're team pink again. 😋

We have issues coming up with names. We are Team Green so we have to come up with 2. I love the name Ryann for a girl and I'm so so about the two boy names that we have so far - Lincoln and Tripp. Once we do decide though I don't have issues telling our friends and family. They are entitled to their own opinions but that doesn't bother me.

We have one of each that we like/love right now which was NOT the case last time so that is nice. I am curious if we will change how we feel on the name once we know for sure the sex. We love Lowen for a boy and Margot for a girl.

We are team green and not sharing names with the general public. Apparently my mom has already started her list of guesses and is offended that if it is a boy we aren't looking at biblical names (like the rest of her grandsons). Anyway we don't want to get advice and we also want to keep it to ourselves as a secret.
But I don't know any of you IRL so.....
In H's family many of the men have Br names with D middle names so we are set on Brendan David. (We don't have a lot to pick from).
I love Amelia Rose for a girl and we don't know any Amelia's but it is going up the list of popular girl names and as someone with a very trendy 80s name I don't want to make my kid go through that. We are still looking around to see if we love anything else as much. My second girl choice is Lydia Mae.

We will discuss but not decide until it's born. lol with DD she was nameless for 24 hrs while trying out our 3 girl names.
So we still have 2 girl names we like, and boy have always been harder for me. I have my favorite, but not sure how it fits on a boy in 2017. It's an older name. But we will also see if we have new names we agree on.
We did not tell anyone our name options. My step dad asked the boy name after DD was born and said it was an egghead name, so yeah. Glad I didn't share. I promptly said well we could have a boy someday so I don't appreciate it.

daystardreams and veganontuesdays - TCF had a names board that I liked and they could be super helpful (though occasionally ruthless about names like Jaxson per their pinned post). I sought advice on our middle before abandoning ship and I got some helpful suggestions. I think you have to know what you care about and what you don't. Like my old boss/mentor when we were considering L's name said "it's pretty but it's a mouthful." Which, duh, I'm already aware of and that didn't bother me because she complimented it otherwise. If someone said it was hideous or tacky... those are harder comments to deal with. I think once you're really in love with a name not much will sway you, but it can be hurtful that others don't also love the name you've chosen for this person you already love so much. We found out today we are team blue. We weren't discussing names until we knew. I have 2 boys and a girl and both boys have T names but I probably won't do another T. DD is an M name. I don't keep names a secret one we decide. I have a few rules for myself with names (nothing in the top 50, no names with other meanings that are not names.) Also, I'm a teacher so that makes names extra hard.

The teacher problem is real. DD's nickname, which we call her all the time, can also be a boy nickname. Anyway, when I was pregnant with her, I had a student in detention who annoyed the crap out of me. When I came back from mat leave he asked what her name was. When I took him, he said "eh! You named her after me!"
Had I known, she would have a different name.

She also wasn't named for an entire day after she was born. We had DD2s name picked out early and no idea for this LO. MH likes to throw out names popular in the 80s like Jennifer. No thanks.

Through school I always had to use my last initial. Now at work, I'm ok with it because out of like 2000+ people there are only 3 local Jenny's and one spells hers different and I've been there longer than the other one.
