Seeing as how our kiddos are almost one and some are already one!!, How are you guys that are BFing or pumping weaning? Or how did you do it with your first or whenever you stopped pumping?
I currently pump every 4ish hours during the day, some days I go longer if I'm busy at work and can't take a break or if Noah is keeping me too busy and won't nap on my days off. I don't pump from 10p-6a, so that's a big chunk. But how do I wean from pumping? I want to stop pumping by the time he's 1 / when I come back to work from my summer vacation after his birthday.
Any suggestions?

addymac, with my first I let her self wean and it was pretty easy and just naturally progressed. She started spacing out feeds more and then was pretty much just at wakeup and bedtime the last few months but she didnāt fully stop till 18 months. I tried to feed her one night before bed and she pulled off, looked at me like what is that and pushed away and that was it š As far as pumping, I was pumping 3 times a day at work, dropped it to 2 times around 12.5 months. I think I did that a few weeks and then only once a day for the last few weeks or so. Iām pretty sure I was completely off the pump by the time she was 14 months but she was still nursing quite a bit at a year old, more than M it seems. Iām thinking I would encourage weaning more with M but I donāt know the closer it gets. It seems like I donāt really know how to do that so Iām not much help there lol. I know sometimes the not offering but not refusing method works for some. Remind me, does N get supplemented with formula too? Just wondering because maybe that would make it a little easier.

No formula. Just breastmilk through bottles bc he self weaned off BFing like 2+ months ago. So Iām wondering how to wean off the pump bc even tho I havenāt been night pumping for several months, I still wake up engorged and pump a ton out even if I limit it to 15min and donāt hand express. š¤·š»āāļø Iām wondering how much do I space out pumps and then gradually cut out one. But timeframe for doing so??? š¤·š»āāļøš¤·š»āāļøš¤·š»āāļøš¤·š»āāļø

I remember he started showing less interest in boob but didnāt realize he fully weaned. I would honestly probably start cutting back on the pump around 11 months and then just let it be gradually spacing out more and more that last month until he is a year. GL, I hope the engorgement starts getting less and less for you soon.

The only thing Iām going to miss is th extra breaks at work LOL. On rough days Iād doze off for a few min while pumping, so Iāll miss those catnaps haha

I stopped pumping at work last week. When A was 10.5 months I went down to once a day at work (was at 2). When she turned 11 months I stopped. My boobs adjusted quickly.
I'm not fully weaning yet though. Just wanted to ditch the pump, ha

I SAH so am in a very different position then you are, but plan on letting D self-wean if at all possible. No clue how that's going to go though. MH thinks she'll never stop wanting boobie and that she'll still be nursing when she's 3yo which freaks him out LOL. I doubt that'll be the case As I wrote in the Mid July Q thread I hope to be able to BF for a good while longer as I just really enjoy the togetherness and closeness, even if it is just in the morning and before bed. I don't think I would pump during the day if I was to be away from her on a daily base but since I SAH and will for the foreseeable future still I haven't really thought about it. When D. is at daycare Fridays I do pump, cause I worry it'll F up my supply otherwise. It's on the low side as it is (and has been) and I still worry about doing things "wrong" and mess it up.. even after 10+months!
Just today while nursing I was wondering what it would belike to no longer BF. I couldn't really imagine. Like, how on earth am I going to sooth D back to sleep MOTN then if I can't just put her on the boob, etc?? There was a time where I could rock her back to sleep but that hasn't worked in a while now. Sometimes I wonder whether she's got reflux as she'll overstretch like whoa which makes holding her so hard and she just won't relax until she gets another sip to drink.. Ahh but I'm sidetracking.

muscari I'm not ready to wean for the soothing reason too. MOTN that's all I got and I want to be able to comfort her while not waking myself up too much lol

yoshijo, jt2378, man, I'm so glad to read this. Pretty much everyone in my surrounding, including the nurse at the pedi office etc, are like "you got to stop nursing MOTN" blabla and I'm like....

It's your choice mama. I never thought I'd be nursing a 1 yr old MOTN but I choose to. If it works for you it's no one's business

If N were still bFing Iād be all over MOTN nursing. I have a coworker whose daughter is 2 and she still MOTN nurses for comfort. It works for them and makes everyone happy.
