@starzia I so feel you on wanting to have an adult conversation that does not revolve around kid stuff. You’re going to have such a cool job someday!! I have no idea what I’m going to do when I’m no longer a SAHM.

@starzia, sometimes I don’t mind being at work to get a “break” from parenting or talking about the kids. It’s nice to have other adult conversation for sure. king26, sleep has been up and down here. It averages 1-2 wakeups a night. We are done the leap in a day or so and I wonder if something will shift. She has been wanting to go to bed so late and is standing now unassisted and walking with a push toy so it seems like she is close to walking which could be causing the sleep stuff. Does J seem like he is in the midst of something developmentally? I know you said teething which could also be it. Or it’s just baby being baby 😛 How long are his naps and what time does he wake from the last one?

jt2378 j takes a nap usually from 9 to either 1030 or 11 and then usually 3 to 4 or sometimes 3 to 430. I try to have him up by 430 because bedtime is 8. He was doing so well waking just once a night but now we are back to 2 and it's been rough. We have 7 more days of this leap I think. He is cruising and trying to stand alone so it could be developmental

@starzia I was just looking at new jobs last night. I think I might apply for a clinic position which is 3 8hr shifts a week, no weekends, no holidays. It's just such a change from ICU bedside that I don't know how I feel about it.

Anyone else's baby waking up more at night? J has been doing twice a night almost for a week now. His naps have been amazing but night time is getting to me. We just passed this phase. Fx it ends soon Eta yes I think it's developmental. Lex went through it too

@starzia is let's talk adult things. Let's say you had a day to yourself. What would you do I want to play! I had a spa day last month but that was 5 hours to myself then I was back in baby duty. If I had an entire day of get uo, go to the coffee shop and have a coffee and read a book. Then I would go shopping for myself and be able to try on all the clothes. Then I'd go grab a quick lunch and see.a.movie (because I havent seen one in over a year...but my DH has!) Then I'd go to my favorite restaurant for dinner and have a 3 course meal with a glass of wine. They do not like kids in there so we haven't been in months. Then I'd come home , take a bubble bath, get another glass of wine, and sleep through the night....

@starzia is let's talk adult things. Let's say you had a day to yourself. What would you do Sleep in. Watch Netflix. Get a massage and/or pedicure. Take a nap. Order out food and have it delivered. Go to bed early. This is assuming I have unlimited money too, of course. Otherwise..sleep and Netflix. Lol.

So last night I cut DH hair...then I cut j hair because it's been in his eyes. He looks so grown up now I can't stand It!
I was supposed to meet up with my 2 best friends from home yesterday but they had to cancel. So we went to a community event in our town called pirates ahoy. J was too young for mist of it but I had a pirates onesie for him and it was such a cool event! All the store on main street were part of a treasure hunt, they had games, crafts, actitivies, snacks , and we live in such a small town it was nice to see 100+ kids with their parents come out for this free event. Oh and there were 2 children's book authors speaking, reading their books, and signing books. Pretty cool. J enjoyed looking at all the kids. I think next year he will love it.

Well like I said, I trimmed j hair last night because it was in his eyes. It actually looks cute. He sat on DH lap and he fed him puffs while I cut it. When should I give DD a first haircut ? Her hair is also always in her face. Not sure if she should get some stylish bangs ...

Usually when I have a moment to myself I end up spending it doing something useful like chores, or administration, or such fun. Blah. But if someone came to me tomorrow and told me they were taking care of D. for the day, I'd install myself in the garden with a good book, a cold drink and some nibbles and just read and soak up the sun! I would also LOVE to meet up with a friend for lunch and (after catching up on the kids briefly) talk about anything BUT! Or maybe go to the movies? I don't know! It's just been 10.5 months but I already don't know what to do with myself when D. isn't around LOL.

Lol The 'no one at my house' sort of sounds awesome for sure. I remember being soooo disappointed when DH told me they had taken him off the roster the friday before his summer vacation started. Friday is daycare day and I had been looking forward having some quiet and real ME time alone at home, which now I had to share with DH lol. AAaarrgh!

oh my gosh chickenpox muscari please feel better soon D Poor little thing. You can really tell she's feeling off.. Combine that with teething.. poor D! DH and I feel rather sorry for her heh.
It was going around at daycare, but since she's not been for the past 2 weeks and had shown no signs I was hoping it would skip her. But nope. Ohwell, better now then x years from now, as the younger ones seem to get it less bad?

Then this morning her little head was covered So far not a lot of spots on her body, just 3 or 4, but her little head....

Just curious.. I know there is a chicken-pox vaccine, is it available in the US/part of the regular vaccine program? It IS available here but not part of the program and not many drs will rx it. Now I'm not sure whether I'd get the vaccine even if it was easily available.. but I was just curious how this is sorted abroad!

Thanks for helping me feel like we’re *not* crazy for being upset about it. thinkchocolate05 they’re 4 and almost 2. I don’t think it’s about the ages of the kids bc she constantly talks about how much fun N seems to be at this age and how he’s changing so much. Idk. It just makes me frustrated. Speaking of dentists, at what age do we need to start taking them to the dentist and to the eye dr? I literally asked dh this last night haha I'm sorry, your MIL sucks and this reeks of favoritism for sure. Sorry you are dealing with this *hugs*
I was invited to start bringing D to dentist appointments as soon as we wanted (like from around a year old orso), so she can get acquinted with the practice and people etc. But actual check ups wouldn't be until she was a bit bigger, like 2,5 or 3? We don't really brush her teeth just yet, we let her play with the toothbrush and she loves to chew on it so that is sort of like brushing right? I'm thinking I'll soon start adding like a half grain of rice sized dot of tooth paste to it.. She's got 6 teethies by now after all LOL

DH and I got into a fight tonight. I already feel like crap thanks to cramps and allergies and I've been crying on and off for the last 2 hours. I feel awful because I was crying when I put j to bed. Dh is currently at dairy queen getting us blizzards to help us both feel better. J is hard core teething and his eczema is so bad right now. I'm going between zyrtec and Tylenol but hate giving them to him. How many teeth does J have right now? Ohhhh I'd like to add that question to the mid July questions lol! cause I'm curious.
Sorry you two got into a fight. DH and I have been getting into stupid little fights lately as well and I don't understand why. Guess maybe we're both just tired and in for a bit of a break.
Poor J, eczema sucks

So I'm still feeling like crap this morning and j woke up 3 times last night and wanted to be held. DH is currently wearing him while he washes the car so I can have a break. He hasn't worn him in months and was like how do you do This? He's heavy and these straps suck! Yep I know, that's why I want a new carrier. I think I may be getting one sooner then I thought now that DH has been wearing him this morning lol. Lately N has been so clingy that my arms are so wiped out I’ve pulled out the old carrier and thrown him in it. Baby bjorn, not great for super heavy kids but we loved it when he was small. But idk if i want to spend the money on another carrier when he loves to walk everywhere now that he’s walking. 🤷🏻♀️ I love my manduca carrier, even with D. getting bigger (and heavier). Buying a new carrier is pricy but maybe you can find one second hand on craigslist or such? I got mine second hand from the Dutch craigslist for like 40 bucks. I got 2 cause I was too lazy to readjust the straps etc whenever DH wanted to wear her. My sister has carried her kids in the manduca till they were.. uhm I dunno actually but well into toddlerhood.

OMG muscari, I read backwards so I'm over here liking posts about th vaccine, not realizing that D has it! Yes, it's part of our standard vaccine protocol. But once you have the disease there's no real reason to get the vaccine. (unless you meant get it for yourself, so you don't end up with it or with shingles). Hope D feels better, super soon. <3

I'm at work all weekend but magically only 8 hours each day! Woo! I'm so wiped out. This cold has been going on for a week and Ben and Noah are both recovered and I am still hacking up a phlegmy lung and my head / sinuses are just a disaster. Yuck. We went to a block party last night when I got home from work at 4, it was around the corner from our block. we just moved here last may, so we're getting to know our neighbors, esp those with kids, so it was nice but its so hard for me to make friends with new people. Like, just walking up to someone and being like HI! I'm so and so and I live around the corner and then small talk... ugh. We talked to a few people but I just suck at it. Plus feeling like crap didn't help. I need to be better so Noah can have friends. Hope you feel better by now! I have been coughing my lungs out for 2 weeks now, which sucks as this has been the two weeks MH been home from work, too. blegh.
We moved to a new development so everybody started fresh which has helped getting to know people a bit from the start since everybody needed to make acquintance with everybody still. But I do feel that now that we have D, we have more contact with more neighbors. It's a family-oriented and child-friendly neighborhood (which sucked so hard while we were going through our mcs and IF!) which is nice since D will have playmates plenty (hopefully). The kids next door LOVE her, the oldest 2 girls (7 and 10) often come by to play with her and their little brother (3) keeps bringing D toys and what not or sometimes he'll knock on the door just to give D a hug! ♥ That said I do hate smalltalk and often feel myself at a loss for conversation. I hate it when people ask how things are going cause what do you answer when you are in the mids of deep PPD lol. At least I could always say something about D's development or what not

At what age do they get the vaccine?

T didn’t get a hair cut until she was 3.5years old. H was bad about putting it up with a little rubber band, so we have plenty of pictures with her hair in her face. He says looking at pics now it looks bad, so hopefully he’s on top of it with R. I’ll wait a couple years until she gets a hair cut, unless it gets to her butt.
The chicken pox vaccine is part of the first year vaccines. I had chicken pox as a kid and I’m not sure when the vaccine started.

Like the whooping cough vaccine, they are only just now deciding to add it to the standard protocol also for pregnant women. I asked about this last year and it was possible to get it but I'd have to get an rx from my GP and order it in through whereever then go some place to have the shot. Ridiculous. /rant

Omgosh D. has been in bed for over 4.5 hours already and while she's given a peep twice, both times it literally was just a peep. Normally we would have had 2 wake ups by now. I feel bad even thinking this and I hate that she's unwell but I really enjoyed this unexpected evening to ourselves. That said, I did stay up way too late - it's 1am now - (but it was so nice to be able to catch up some here!) so I best get my ass to bed cause who knows what the rest of the night will bring!
