Two months in and I am still really struggling to find the time to do anything for myself. I desperately want to exercise but I just can’t seem to work it in unless I want to wait until after 9 or 10pm when the baby finally settles in and by then I’m dead. What have you been doing for yourself? I’m basically here to scam ideas off of you. My only “me time” lately is I got to grocery shop alone the other day 😂

Exercise is pretty much it. I have Orangetheory twice a week (one weekday at 5:30 am before work and once on the weekend) try to meet up with friends to run twice a week after work. H knows that exercise is medicine for me and we both work to make it happen.
Time with girlfriends is important too, whether its going for a run together or doing a PaintNite every once in awhile. I feel a lot more human when I've had a social outlet (work helps with this to).
We have been having ice cream dates on Friday nights after the kids go to bed. DH will run out and get sundaes from the local creamery and we eat them on the couch in our pjs. Hehe. Its the little things.

Grocery shopping by myself is a big one. It’s pretty much my favourite thing to do these days.
Exercising is my go to too but it’s just gotten easier to fit in. Like this week and my baby is what, like 6 weeks older than yours? And I am trying to do it during the day instead of after bedtime because I am also dead by the time bedtime rolls around.
Honestly for me, it’s the really little things. Taking time to wash my face really well so it feels great. Flossing my teeth and making them feel like I just got a cleaning. Giving L the iPad when he wakes up at 6 so I can sleep until B gets up at 7. Taking them to a park where B can sleep in the stroller and L can go play and I can sit outside in the shade on a blanket and drink my iced coffee
It has to be the tiny little things right now because I have no energy for big self care things and I end up resenting how much extra time they take.

I’m now laughing at myself that I said flossing my teeth is me time. But it makes me feel good and it’s 5 mins in the bathroom alone.

I felt very proud of myself recently for making the time to do a home treatment for a plantars wart on my heel. Like, woooo I am taking care of ME And ITA about feeling resentful for the amount of time the big stuff takes. I got my hair done before I went back to work and the three hours I spent in the salon were just not worth it. It blew my whole weekend! Newp. Not doing that again.

I haven’t had my hair done since the day before O was born and I just can’t bring myself to care about it🤦🏼♀️ I’m sure it’ll get done sometime before Christmas😂

I watch Netflix after everyone goes to bed. It means some late nights, but having that time alone is just nice.
Also, I know people hate it, but pumping is such a relaxing time for me. I just get to sit back and chill for a good 15 minutes while someone else (usually) watches Lyra.

+1 to spending a few minutes each morning to wash my face. Running errands by myself. Lol. That's all I've got.

N is in bed by 7 and DS by 8, so after that I usually watch an episode of Midsomer murders with my husband, then read for a while in bed. Having that time to relax in the evening is everything to me and totally recharges me for the next day.
I also love grocery shopping by myself and I have plans to get my hair done sometime before the end of summer!

I’m like Rama and watch Netflix once everyone’s asleep. I’m a night owl but luckily G usually sleeps in a bit. I definitely recharge with alone time.

i love hearing what other people are doing for themselves. for me, it’s taking the time to put lotion on after i get out of the shower, doing a weekly face mask, and starting to use my sonicare toothbrush again (because who has 2 whole minutes go brush their teeth?😬). oh yea and i got my hair cut/highlighted after almost a whole year - but i also can’t stand using my time for stuff like that.
h and i usually have a saturday night date night on the couch with take out after the girls go to bed. i finally feel like i can count on a decent bedtime for it. but i’m scared i’m getting too comfortable.
eta: reading before everyone gets up too if i can get myself out of bed in time. having that time in the morning really helps with my patience level

I need to start making more of an effort to read.

On the weeknights I have absolutely no “me time” until after L goes to bed, but then I’d just rather go to bed than do anything else. H asked if I wanted to watch a movie one night and I looked at him like “be up for 2 more hours? are you kidding me?”
I looove reading, but I haven’t read since before L was born. I did try to start a book when he was a month or two old but I couldn’t get into it. I think I was just distracted and also v v tired. I should make more of an effort to read again because I think that would help.
I agree that it’s just really really nice to take a long shower during which I can actually shave and take the time to do those little extra things like a deep conditioner for my hair or paint my nails
I also took some time the other day to go through my drawers, purge some clothes, and reorganize. Organizing is therapeutic for me. So is getting rid of stuff.

Today I told SO I was going to run errands but I went to the park and had an hour long nap under a tree. It was the best.

Honestly the only thing getting me there is the fact that I already paid for the classes and there is nothing I hate more than wasting $$$. I also online shop way too much.

snowmoon a nap under the trees sounds glorious. I try to take at least one shower a week when DH is home so that it can be a longer shower. When DS1 is at daycare and L is napping I try to do something for myself whether it is napping, playing a game on my phone, watching tv, or working on a project <—- that will only last until I go back to work in August. Last week I was determined to win my group Fitbit challenge so I did a lot of walking. I really miss having a consistent excercise routine. I always feel better after a nice walk.

Working out. I try to go to classes 4-5 times a week. Buti is my new obsession and makes me feel so good
I take a bath and read every night. Even if I'm exhausted and only last 10 minutes, I couldn't live without it.

Leaf 🌱 you're still going?! So awesome, good for you!!! snowmoon I have actual tears 😭 Yes! I went this morning (27 splat points!) and honestly love it. I was worried it would be my chubby butt and a ton of super fit people but was happily surprised it was such a mix. I’m a terrible terrible runner and I’ve honestly run more in the three classes I’ve taken than in the last few years combined. The coaches are so good!

Like most of you mine is working out. Though mine is mostly at home while the baby is napping or chilling in the bouncer. I'm trying to go out for a run once or twice a week while Mh stays with the girls.
I'm dreading this month. Mh is in his last semester for his MBA program and they have classes every Friday and Saturday this month. And they do a lot of group work which means evening meetings so I'll be doing a lot of solo bedtime. I already told Mh I'm planning a massage and some long solo time for my birthday next month.

I just told one of my BFFs that we are doing a stay-cation next Mother’s day. Maybe not on the actual day but as our gift from our husbands - I’m thinking a nice hotel with a rooftop bar or deck, kid free, happy hours, maybe massages. Just 36 hours of pure relaxation.

Not enough. Sigh.
I’ve been trying to make time for a bubble bath since Mother’s Day. The stupid bath is next to DS’s room and I can’t run it while he’s in bed and I never remember to do it before he goes to bed. I need to work on alotting time for myself.

Because there is no way I can get to the gym we bought a Max Trainer. I have had it for 2 weeks and have been trying to work out most nights. It means I get to work out and get to shower each night so at this point I get two things out of it. Showers during the day are just not happening since L will only sleep in the carrier or in the stroller.

We pulled it out of the storage room last week and I did it yesterday. For 8 mins. Holy fuck I was dying. Do you love it? Because I cursed that thing but I’m looking forward to doing it tonight after bedtime, while I watch big brother.
