C actually did sleep in today. I got him up at 6:30 and got him out the door. We are doing our volunteer day at work and I don’t need to be there until 9 so I’m picking up breakfast and can relax at home a bit after.

Today is my last official day of maternity leave, though I don't go back until Thursday because of the holiday and being part time. I'm so not ready!

I got up at 5:30, got in a 20 minute workout, and then I heard Josie's door close and her feet running down the stairs. She has never ever done that before. Normally she stays in her room and calls for one of us. I guess the honeymoon is over?

According to my sisters’ friends in Norway is a crime against humanity to make moms go back to work before the kids are a year old, I agree. Hugs.

Mine seem to alternate too wineallthetime. One will be up at 6:30-7 and the other will sleep til 8. Think we could coordinate this, kids?

Morning!
DH has a half day today and we plan to finish up a couple landscaping mini-projects out back. Tonight we are taking the kids out for hibachi.
Tomorrow we have some good friends coming over for dinner/swimming with their kids. They live in the DC area but are in town visiting family. I have dessert figured out but should probably come up with an actual meal 😜

Morning! This Friday seemed to take forever to get here.
The in laws are coming over for dinner tonight, I'm making tacos/taco salad with rice. Easy.
One of our dogs shit in Evie's playroom overnight. I'm so angry at those dogs.
Do you guys sometimes feel like you're losing your mind, trying to keep up with everything? I feel like between being swamped at work, the kid, husband, keeping the house clean, cooking, laundry, etc, I might just lose my shit at any minute. My only time I get is after Evie goes to bed, which is about 8:30, and I go to bed at 10. An hour and half doesn't seem like enough time to decompress and get things done. Is it just me, because this week has been fucking rough and I'm so ready for 5 days off next week.

I'm exhausted. J tossed and turned and whined all night. I'm about to shower and get ready and we're going to check out another new play ground and get ice cream with a friend and her daughter. A is working today but we might go see the new Jurassic park tonight. Has anyone seen it yet? Im not worried about M. But I'm afraid J might get scared and I'll be stuck walking the mall for 2 hours.

My boss just sent me a text to meet him in the tax office parking lot with his evidence for a hearing he has at 9. Seriously, we're 2 blocks from the tax office. You can't drive 2 blocks over here?

mwhip Yes, I feel that way a lot, and I don't even work outside the home. I do think a lot of it is the stage of life we're in. Also, we put our kids to bed pretty early--7 for C, 7:30 for B--and that extra time at night is a godsend. Would it work for E to go to bed any earlier?

Morning! Started work an hour early and now I’m basically caught up so I’m going to start packing for our weekend. Love the perks of working from home!
It’s supposed to be insanely hot here today but won’t be as bad where we are heading. I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend at the cabin with a lot of lake time.

This has been M, too. Daycare naps are killing me. I was up until 11:30 Tuesday night trying to get everything done and dinner prepped for the next day. Not delightful at all.

So much of my sanity is saved in those few hours in the evening where I can eat a nice (warm) dinner with Dh, watch crappy television or just be.

Morning! H has her last day of swimming lessons this morning. I want to run a couple errands before that and then H requested a picnic lunch after. Then this afternoon we are going to meet friends at a different pool. Should be a fun day.

I seriously stress out if I see 8 o'clock on the clock and they're not asleep, yet. They wake up so early, and it seems the later they go to bed (on those nights where we have an activity planned) they still are up by 630.

Morning.
One of my kids sleeps in, the other I'm working on, but he's not too bad either. I would love to get him sleeping past 8am. I'm not a morning person.
Like a few others, I'm drowning daily and my kids don't go to bed early. It would be nice to have an hour or two at night to myself to get things done. I was just telling some of my coworkers that I need to take off and spend a few days at home purging and getting my house in order. I would feel a lot better about the day to day when I can come home and not feel stressed about the amount of house work that needs to happen.

I put her to bed earlier on days she doesn't nap. But on days she naps, she lays in bed and tells me it's too light outside to go to sleep, at 8:30. You are killing my will to live, kid!!!

YES! But I feel bad taking a day off to myself, so I never do it, even though I have more PTO this year than I've ever had. I get home from work at 5pm, cook dinner, sit down to eat, clean up dinner and usually finally get to sit down around 6:30 or 7pm. Then it's play time with the kid until bath time at 7:45/8:00. So it doesn't end until I get her to sleep. All while my husband sits on the fucking sofa playing on his phone. Which is probably what makes me even more insane.

I never thought I'd be a bedtime zealot, but we keep them on a tight schedule at night and that is a huge help for my sanity. It really is unfair--if they stay up late, they seem to wake up even earlier!
