When my alarm went off I realized the monitor wasn’t scanning between DD3 and 4’s rooms so now I feel like a horrible mom. It’s not completely far fetched that baby might have slept through the night but she also could have screamed for a long time. I got up, and changed into some yoga pants, that I pulled from my dresser drawer, and there was a freaking spider inside them. I felt it on my leg after they were already on. I don’t think I’ve every ripped a pair of pants off so fast. Gross. So that’s how my Thursday is going! Lol. How about you?

I’m just going for all the posts this morning! Just had to add we have another weight check this morning, so think heavy thoughts for us. Hoping she gained 5oz in the last two weeks so we don’t fall off the charts!
And also it’s our 10 year wedding anniversary. A couple years ago I had hoped we’d go on a big vacation, but then we had another baby. Sooooo I’ll be thrilled with like two hours of completely kid free time. Ha.

Happy anniversary ajetter. Hopefully the baby gains lots of weight today. I mentioned before that H isn’t eating much at daycare. I think they are only feeding him when he seems hungry. So he’s now getting up twice a night for a bottle because he hasn’t eaten enough during the day. It’s a long weekend this weekend and he starts a new daycare Tuesday, so I’m hoping to get it sorted out soon.

ajetter Happy anniversary!! And omg to a spider in your pants. Reminds me of the time H and I were in a desert town in Spain. Went on a hike, returned to our room to rest, and after awhile H “feels something.” He stands up, takes off his shirt and I see what looks like a scorpion tail curling from his boxers. I get very very calm and say, “You’re ok, but take off your pants.” He shrieks and frantically gets naked and curls into a ball in the corner. We poke his pile of clothes with a clothes hanger and find a huuuge black centipede crawling through his boxers. At least it wasn’t a scorpion? 😂😂😬

Talk of bugs this early in the morning requires thread burning, correct? I can’t deal.

The baby slept in today. He didn’t wake up until 7. I think it’s because it’s dark and dreary out. My plans for going swimming today have been killed by the thunderstorms. We have already had breakfast and G is now playing. The baby is in the sit me up with his helmet on and playing with his toys.

That's a big NO to talk of spiders in clothes, let alone other creepy crawling things. Post a TW will ya? *shudder*
Faith had a horrible night (or maybe I'm just annoyed). She went down easy in her crib and she was almost fully awake when I laid her down. I decided not to do a dream feed but she woke up 5 minutes after I got comfortable in bed, then again at 3:30 where I just gave up and brought her to bed with us. I wonder if lack of good sleep during the day is contributing to crappy sleep at night too?
I'm off work next week and we will be keeping her out of daycare so it will be a "fun" experiment to see if a week of regular daytime sleep results in fewer night wake ups.

ajetter Sorry for the rough start to the day! Hopefully the day can only go up from here!! aprilz81 I am just a FTM so don't have as much experience- but 5 months is still so young and they are still so little, and most babies aren't STTN yet! So maybe if you re-frame your expectations and consider the nights that she does STTN as a bonus and extra "good" nights, then the nights that she doesn't you won't end up so frustrated. I know it's hard when we are so tired though- but it does sound like she has pretty normal nights for her age! Hugs.

I guess I hear so many stories about babies pretty much sleeping through the night by now (except when sick or teething) that STTN seems more normal than multiple wake ups. I would gladly take just one wake up at this point and we haven't had that in weeks. I'm just sooooo tired (and whining about it).

Happy Anniversary ajetter! DD1 woke up screaming from a nightmare and falling out of bed so she came to bed with me around 11. She likes to pet my face which makes it hard for me to sleep. As soon as I fell asleep close to midnight, baby woke up. I feel hungover today. I guess that's what two nights in a row of good baby sleep followed by a crappy one will do to me. And I've got a killer headache. Can this work day be over so I can go home and lay down?

aprilz81 I get it! I'm sorry you're so tired! If it makes you feel better the longest stretch we've had is 6 or 7 hours and DS is 4.5 months. He normally falls aslep at 9:30, eats at 11ish, and then wakes around 5:30 to eat, and back to sleep until 8 or 9. I think there are lots of other babies that aren't fully STTN yet either so you're not alone!!

Happy anniversary ajetter! My first didn’t STTN until 15 months and 2 months later I had another baby haha 😂 I just say I gave up sleep for lent... running consistent for about 3 years. It’s rainy and cold here today. I wish I was WFH but there is leftover cake in the break room. So I’ll probably be indulging in that soon. I can’t wait for the weekend.

I'm glad we don't have anything like that here.
Although we do have ticks...H had one on his balls a couple months ago and ended up cutting it out with a razor blade.

Our transition to the pack n play for nighttime sleep is finally going better! For the past week she starts off the night in the pnp, and then after her first wake up I put her in her rocker. She was fighting the initial put-down for awhile (1.5 hours of trying to put her down 🙄) but the past two nights she went to sleep on the first try! And last night slept 6 hours before waking. 🙌🏻 So I think going forward I’m ready to ditch the rocker completely. Go for full nights in pnp.
Sorry, that was a lot of uninteresting detail. Tl;dr baby is learning to sleep flat finally.

Happy anniversary ajetter! And try not to feel too bad about the baby monitors..the girls are fine and hopefully you got a little extra sleep! I know Mom guilt is real though! aprilz81 I know anecdotes are just that, but none of my babies were early STTNers. DS was around 1, and DD2 like 2 lol. We finally put her in a real bed around 18 months which actually made a huge difference. The fact that N spends any time in the crib right now is a new one for me, I could not figure out how to transition the other two to it while I was BFing.

As frustrating as it is that they won’t do it, especially when they HAVE done it before, it’s not the norm. I agree with pinkcat that maybe changing your expectations might help with the annoyingness and frustration of it all. Hugs. It sucks.

I took both kids to the car dealership to get a service done on my car. The were both great, and DD even fell asleep on our walk to McDonald's for a treat.
DD has now tried 4 foods. She liked the oatmeal, banana and the green beans, but she was not a fan of applesauce.

I think it might be too tart for her.

I have been feeding the baby purées for almost 2 months now. He has tried all of the fruits and veggies that Gerber has to offer. I bought oatmeal to start giving him in the morning but I have been lazy or forgotten to start it. I am going to have to remember. I am attempting to do things sort of the same way I did with G. But 1 year she was completely off of formula and bottles. It was food and sippy cups only as of the week of her first birthday.

Sorry about all the bug talk!!! I promise not to do it again. 😘
Baby was 11lbs 13oz at our weight check today. Her gain was better than at our previous check, but I’m pretty sure she fell off the chart. I didn’t even ask. She is such a happy and content baby, I don’t want to wake her up any more to force feed her. The nurse today suggested I offer to nurse her multiple times when she’s awake. I just... I mean I can but it just doesn’t feel right. And I’m pretty sure she’ll just spit up more. But whatever.

aprilz81 this is my first baby who has ever slept thru the night before 6-8 months. And DD2 and 3 were still regularly waking once a night until around 1.

Thanks for all the hair pats and anecdotes. I may cry if she doesn't STTN until she is a year old.
