inthekitty, I know we've all sort of discussed this before, but our house is definitely haunted. S has stopped talking to the ghost, but as a baby and young toddler, he did all the time. B doesn't seem to notice it though. I believe the spirit or whatever lives in S room. I see things on the monitor that are not normal all the time. Same camera, same monitor as B room and I ONLY see it in S room. Super weird

inthekitty multiple types of flooring is something I can’t stand. Like when carpet flows into tile flows into wood. jewels tell us ghost stories!!

I’m bored. It’s too hot to do anything outside and I can’t take C anywhere.

flamingo , I'm surprised they haven't moved him up levels since he is doing so well. I never did the Mommy and me stuff with Cadence, so she is a bit behind, but catching up. I need to be more diligent about taking her to the neighborhood pool so she has more practice than just the 30 minutes a week. I think the problem is that they do it by age group instead of skill. When they did the skill tests the first couple days, I overheard them say he was the most advanced level for his age group. I mean, there were kids that were afraid to get in, so...yes. To be honest, the next age group up (6-7 or 6-8, can't remember) is still not doing what I would like him to be working on. I have watched their lessons a bit (they occur simultaneously) for some tips/ideas of stuff we can practice with B and it just seems like a lot of practice doing things he is already comfortable doing. I kind of wonder if some of these kids have ever really been exposed to the water and/or swim lessons before. They're on base, so you have such a wide cross-section of people/backgrounds, and I think the lessons they offer have to appeal to a wide range of experience. tgrimes Yeah, I might look into having an instructor come here to our home, or even do indoor pool lessons in the late summer/early fall once we're back in town consistently. Right now b/n heading down to see the baby, B in camp, then going up to Maine for a couple weeks, I feel like our schedule is just a mess. eta: I hope I don't sound snotty or like I think that my special snowflake is the next Michael Phelps.

Waiting for C to come home so I can take a shower. Hoping to call the state after my shower. C is going to help another friend move today, so I'm home alone again. I wish he would understand that it would be nice for him to be home occasionally

flamingo , you are the dream tenant. The owners should feel fortunate to have you there. Ha. Thankfully I do think they realize it...when he visited a couple weeks back he told mH, "i wish you guys weren't leaving." DH was like, "It's not for almost 2 more years" and the guy was like, "I know. But still." LOL. I hope the new house situation works itself out, glad the owners approved the repairs. Hopefully you will get some movement on your current house soon!

We'll have clusters of odd instances and then nothing for a while. It never feels like a negative presence though, just kind of creepy when something happens. MH has named him Lazarus and told him he can move with us. My mom lived in a haunted house for a while as a kid.

That would be especially hard to deal with postpartum. MH did that for a while and it kind of did me in until I finally exploded. Have you talked to C about it? If so, what does he say?

inthekitty multiple types of flooring is something I can’t stand. Like when carpet flows into tile flows into wood. jewels tell us ghost stories!! Yes! They had carpet, really weird tile, light wood floors, dark wood floors. The master bedroom was gray, light yellow, and a darker yellow. Each rise of the stairs was covered in rainbow tiles on the front facing side and then dark wood on top. A lot of different colors for the backsplashes. It was dizzying and not relaxing. There would be so much I'd have to replace to like the way it looked and since it wasn't technically broke I'd have a hard time justifying ripping out counter tops that are technically fine.

inthekitty multiple types of flooring is something I can’t stand. Like when carpet flows into tile flows into wood. Agreed. This was our last house...Tile 1 in entry, carpet 1 in formal living and dining, carpet 2 in family room, tile 2 in kitchen. And you could see them all from the front door. Once we put down the wood floors, it all just flowed and the house looked so much bigger and more cohesive. inthekitty Yeah, it's hard to justify ripping out materials that you are ostensibly 'paying for' when you buy the house (esp. 'upgrades' like granite or quartz--even if it's ugly, hardwood floors, etc). I'd rather find something where I either like everything, OR where stuff hasn't been done and I can choose exactly what I want (and the purchase price reflects that).

cagoldi Yikes, what a horrible way to wake up. Before I was on anti-depressents, I used to have lots of dreams about death and dying. Could it be something emotional for you? Now, I just have dreams that my dog is home. Nothing spectacular, he's just around and in the dream I feel relieved that him passing away must have just been a dream. Then I wake up and realize that no, he's really gone. It messes with my head.

inthekitty we've talked a little. He's stressed at work so I'm giving him more leeway. I'm hoping once they announce who gets promoted (which it sounds like he will) he will calm down and be more present.

If he’s stressed at work then why help everyone and their mother move. KWIM? I’m a bit annoyed for you too obviously.

flamingo We have held off on swim lessons for similar reasons. My kids don't sound anywhere near as capable in the water as yours, but we are beyond bubble blowing/getting our faces wet and still not quite fully confident swimmers. Also, agree you are a dream tenant. Don't tell your landlord I am secretly looking forward to when the two years are up, so we can see how you style your new home 😉

wedding I get it. I was annoyed at first. But he's a hands on builder kind of guy. Sitting at home thinking about work stressed him out more. When LO comes back from my parents he's going to be home more.

Morning! We took Bea to Jurassic Park last night and she slept through the whole thing. I was surprised because it was really loud and I jumped from time to time which caused her to jump. We had tried to go to our favorite theater with recliners, but it was sold out for the next two showings by the time we got there. After last night, I have decided I cannot do non-recliner theaters anymore. #spoiled
My kids come home today, so I need to get off my butt and paint the stairwell to the basement. I want it to be mostly dry before they get here. My H is avoiding an uncomfortable conversation I brought up this morning, but I can wait him out. I plan to be conspicuously around today, just to throw him off. Don't mind us...it's just me and the elephant in the room 😁

chrisy01 I think if you guys are on the same page now, that is what counts. I'm not going to speak for Chrisy's H, but I think a lot of men find it tough being home on paternity leave and somewhat idle. They're limited by what they can do if Mom is nursing the baby and you're somewhat housebound in those early days, there may not be other children home who would need to be fed and entertained (and in this case, L is now away at the grandparents). so Dad just finds himself kind of at loose ends. So I guess I'm not going to come down too hard on him. Obviously if she needs him around for things and he is blowing her off, that is a different story. My H was home for about 10 days after each of our children were born, and in both cases I was ready for him to go back, and I think he was ready, too, at the end of that time. That's not to say he wasn't a help or doesn't love our children, but there are limits to what he could do (and what I wanted him to do).

I've been reading but I needed the break from trying not to be a Debbie downer.. and I'm in a much better head space now. Mostly because they are setting panels for my basement walls as we speak. House delivery was able to be moved, we claimed bad weather, my builder made me promise to vouch for him in heaven if this lie keeps him out So the house will be here July 16, set on the 17th. I'm calling painters and counter top people and we're going next week to order our appliances while there is a sale going on - the $4,000 fridge we want is $2,400! Progress is finally happening! I love you all and appreciate you so much.

DH came home early to do the yard before it rains, so B is outside with him, and C is napping. Is it weird that I just want to get in bed?

The bank finally put my money back in my account. As soon as E wakes up and is fed we are going to pull the money out so they don't do anything with it.
The check they said they mailed still hasn't arrived and I still haven't gotten my phone call from the manager.
The states phone queue was filled up but I'm emailing them what has happened. Hopefully they do something so no one else has to go through what I went through.
