My knee jerk reaction to this was, "Surely we can't be number 10. There are so many atrocities perpetrated against women every day all over the world."

I have to push back on this a little bit just to broaden the accusations, not to whatabout it. I'm not in any way suggesting that America is a super great and safe place for women. It's abundantly clear that that is not the case. However my concern is that some other countries are skating by as being "okay-ish" for women because the culture isn't welcoming to reporters of sexual assault and harassment. I mean we were very much in that place until a few months ago and STILL, arguably, are very much in that place.
So I guess my point is that the US has a long way to go on this and I suspect there are drowned out voices elsewhere in the world, and all of those voices deserve to be heard.
