snip snip hooray is making me laugh this morning cornpop. Sorry about your ILs. They sound like real prizes. How weird is it to talk about your vasectomy with your parents anyway. My in laws were all up in my BIL’s vasectomy business. I know entirely too much about it thanks to them. Gives me the creeps. Yep same. My dh finally told his parents to quit asking about it, he’s fine. My parents asked too, but just to check on him. After a week or so my mom was like “so I guess he’d like us to stop asking huh?” Yep, that’d be great.

I think I am going to get rid of the paci soon, even if it’s a bit tough. It’s fucking around with his sleep and that’s my number one parenting rule for myself - don’t fuck with sleep. The cons are outweighing the goods. And I read the same thing about before 6 mo and the object permanence thing too and it makes sense.
I’m not worried about anyone else though. I’m just trying to decide if I want to wait until the 4mo Sleep regression hits to give it up or start working on it now.

NCU but does any one feel like they smell more? Like BO and/or maybe old milk? YES

Just got home from L’s 4 month checkup. He’s only gained 1 lb and dropped down to the 10th percentile from the 25th since his 2 month appt. Pedi said it could be bc he’s been sick. She said we could keep track of his weight on our scale and bring him in at 5 months if it doesn’t seem like he’s gaining enough. He’s nursing every 2-3 hours when I’m home throughout the day and takes 4 3-4 oz bottles at dc. He always seems satisfied after eating so 🤷🏼♀️. I’m trying not to worry about it too much but it does concern me.

NCU but does any one feel like they smell more? Like BO and/or maybe old milk? This time, I haven't noticed it but with my first OMFG yes.

woodenshoes You look beautiful with both long and short hair! I bet the short cut will feel so nice this summer, too. Leaf 🌱 Oh my gosh, YES. I feel like I have to reapply deodorant at least once a day because I'll get a whiff and be like...is that me? Yep, it's me. clementine I'm sorry for the worry about L's weight. Hopefully it's just because he's been sick and he bounces back quickly. It sounds like he's nursing and eating well, but I can definitely understand worrying and I do hope he gains more quickly for you guys <3

I can't remember what I've shared here, but we had DS1's evaluation with a psychologist a couple of weeks ago. DH and I met with her this morning to go over the results (of her evaluation, along with her taking into account allll of the evaluations and reports he's had done with the school district, early intervention services, etc) and she is diagnosing him with autism spectrum disorder.
It's kind of a relief. Just...to have an answer, and not be in limbo. I'm still processing and absorbing the short and long-term implications - she sent us home with a lot of resources and information, and it's a little overwhelming.

katietopaz, that would be overwhelming and I’m sure an onslaught of emotions. He’s still your same little boy and hopefully having a diagnosis will make his and your life a little easier in the long run.

clementine, we had a similar check up yesterday in that his growth has slowed right down and we have to monitor it. I’m trying not to worry too. Let’s not worry together. They are probably just on their own growth schedules.

So many hugs to you and your family katietopaz. I know you guys have been through a lot of evaluations and a lot of wondering, so I can imagine it would be a relief to be done with that and have an answer. I’m sure you’ll have a range of emotions as you process this and start to sift through all the resources. Definitely give yourself time and grace. Try to remember that this diagnosis doesn’t change your DS. He’s still the same little guy! It sounds like he was doing well with preschool before it let out for summer, so I’m glad that piece of the puzzle seems to have worked out well!

What leatherpants and clementine said. He’s still the same, all that changes is that he’s able to get the help he needs and you have a better understanding of those needs. Either way, I’m sending a hug!

About to embark on L’s first night in his crib. In just a sleep sack. I’m still rocking him to sleep though because there’s no way in hell he’s falling asleep himself with these flailing arms. Please oh please let him sleep well. DNW to be the pacifier fairy all night.

Leaf 🌱 I swear I smell like I never shower... I’m using like three deodorants and anti perspirants and I don’t think they help. I just bribed the threenager with Chuck E. Cheese’s if she sleeps in her bed all night.

Leaf 🌱 I need 2 applications of deodorant a day, minimum. I’m hoping once this 100 degree heatwave moves past us I’ll be able to tone it down a little. clementine I swear I read somewhere that BF babies growth slows down around now, let me see if I can find it. katietopaz huge hugs for you. Even when you expect things it can still be a shock when you get official news.

Thanks for sharing that mrsmonogrammed. clementine, this was true for my ds. Between 4 and 6 months he only gained like 8 ounces or so, but grew 4 inches and was still hitting all develolmental milestones, nursing frequently and having normal bowel movements and wet diapers. His doctor tried to push me to supplement and even wrote me a rx for domperidone to increase my milk supply. I never filled it and never supplemented because he didn't need it! Weight gain is not the only indication of a healthy, growing baby. E seems to be following the same pattern but her weight gain slowed sooner (around 8 weeks.)

Thanks for the reassurance snowmoon! L’s weight gain seemed to slow starting at 8 weeks too, but he’s still having plenty of diapers and is hitting milestones, so I’m feeling a little less worried. Those 4 month shots yesterday are making a very tired baby today. He never naps for more than 50 min at a time, but he’s been sleeping for 3 hours now with one 8 min nursing session about halfway through.

OMG you guys my H is looking up research about how CFOs and other higher ups are successful with 4+ kids and talking to me about how to be a successful working mom via these articles. I may kill him. Don't effing talking to me about how to be a working mom. DONT talk to me about what goes through a moms brain. DO NOT talk to me about how to create balance and be successful at work while also running a household. These articles all talk about housekeepers, nannys, mothers helpers, etc. Good luck finding one we can afford on my salary. <death stares buddy...> I know he's trying to be encouraging and just sharing info, and has no expectation that I'm going back to 'real work' anytime soon. Seriously … yianna I'd love to hear your perspective and know what works for your family. somehow i missed this... I won’t lie - it’s going to be challenging. We live in the SW suburbs of DC. We both make great salaries - although for the COL here it never seems enough. My house doesn’t stay clean. I try to meal plan and DH has had to step in and learn to cook for the family. Our day care bill is about $600 more than our mortgage. We have one car that’s nearly paid off and another that is leased but I get reimbursement for it. We recently have started shopping at Lidl, and we try not to eat out much anymore - usually Saturday evenings since we go to Mass. I have a direct selling biz - (anyone needs LipSense lmk) that pays for additional expenses every month. We don’t save too much - his bonus goes into savings. We have to use it sometimes (for expenses we can’t budge for) but we have a good 401 for each of us. We don’t live bare bones either - if we needed to cut back it would have to be on cell phones and home tv. They are our highest bills after car and house. I constantly feel like I’m on the go BUT at the same time I feel like I have time too. I can’t explain it. People think I’m absolutely nuts that I have kids, work full time (commute is 3 hours round trip due to insane traffic) and I have a small business too. PLUS during the school year I have to do homework help bc my H is way too impatient. But honestly I wouldn’t change it - other then maybe getTing a cleaner again. We have to tag team a bunch but it’s worth it.

We spent about 3 hours in the boat out on the lake this afternoon! DS did well, it was great. Now I want to swim every day! I'm just mad cause apparently we lost DS's sunglasses a couple weeks ago so that was a pain to not have.

yianna you drive to work?!? Yikes. Do you at least have a WFH day? That’s the only thing that saves my sanity. I just bought a stroller on the BST our your way and I am dreading having to go pick it up. But I’ll do it for a $170 lightly used bugaboo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ do you ever fantasize about moving to a LCOL area? I do... I just can’t make half of my salary anywhere else so I feel stuck. katietopaz I can’t imagine how tough that is. I’m glad you have a diagnosis and a starting point.

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦
Early morning to go see the parade and then pancake breakfast. Now to do laundry and make sure the toddler naps before the fireworks tonight.
On another note, A spent the whole night in her crib, without a swaddle! She woke up to eat every 2 hours but I call it a win!

woodenshoes your smile is beautiful 😊 and the new cut looks great! I haven't donated for a couple years. I cut mine shortly before Christmas so it'll be a couple years before I can again. katietopaz hugs ❤ as you work through this. mrsmonogrammed thanks for that link! DS is suddenly done nursing after 5 min per side and I was very wut about it but that explains that is normal. Happy Canada day! I was born in Alberta. We moved to BC and I lived there till I was 16. I love NY now, but that will always be my homeland.

I accidentally posted in the motn thread that we're having my son's second birthday party today, but I'm going to AW the cake here. Humpty is a little bigger than I had planned but L will still like it!
