How are these people protesting during the day? Don't they have jobs like the rest of us? I protest during the day all the time There were (still are) a lot of mid-day protests in our area since Trump was inaugurated, mostly smaller scale, and at Senator Collins' offices. There was a time people were protesting in front of the public radio studio where she was being interviewed and she made the same comment questioning whether the protestors had jobs and people were none too thrilled about that. Many of them did have jobs too but made a point of taking time off to show up and send a message.

I’m freaking out. I’m so scared. This is not good so not good. I guess we’ll have to be political refugees in Canada? I just want to cry.

Fine people "on both sides" .... Both sides.... very fine people. How are these people protesting during the day? Don't they have jobs like the rest of us? I thought you were being sarcastic since this is what the GOP said after the women’s march.

Here is what I am more afraid of - this is the larger context.....
Republicans control literally, everything.
Congress, the Presidency, and now the Courts (I realize Kennedy was conservative but he was a swing vote in many key decisions).
Get everyone you know and their mother that don't vote, to fucking vote this November.

We can yell until we are blue in the face but it won't mean anything if there's shit Dem turnout in November. Conservatives are going to show up.

My fear is that with republicans in charge of everything, who is to say November will even matter?? I mean so far there have been zero checks on 45, he does whatever no1curr...I don’t see anyone making sure shit is fair. Yes, my tin hat is on tight. I am really fearful for democracy.

SCOTUS has wimped out on gerrymandering as it is. I’m afraid voter suppression will get a bright green light and who knows when the Dems will control anything again. ::joins you with tin foil hat::

What I'm even more afraid of: there is evidence that Russia is going to continue to interfere in our election systems (purging voters from the rolls, disinformation campaigns, etc) and no one seems to be doing much to protect and ensure a true and fair vote. I have very little confidence that we will ever have a fair election again.

My prediction: If there is a blue wave in November, Trump will start crying about voter fraud. They'll investigate, find nothing widespread but will find a few isolated cases and use those as evidence to cancel the 2020 election. Then we all sit back and watch while the Trumps play out King Lear when it's time for one of the kids to follow him to the throne.

Well as long as Republicans control everything and the interference continues to benefit them......then yea we totes fucked.

@ddiamond: Merrick Garland was nominated on March 16, 2016 — or 237 days before that year’s election. McConnell said that was too close to Election Day for Obama to pick and voters should decide.
Justice Kennedy announced his retirement today — 132 days before this year’s election.

Damn straight Chuck Damn straight but it doesn't matter, and since they changed the rules and it's only 51 votes needed, we're screwed.
Maybe Jeff Flake will hold up any confirmation.

Guys I am really feeling like this is the end of democracy in America as we know it. I don’t see us crawling out of this hole anytime soon. I’m not trying to be all, “the sky is falling”, but it is.
