We’re trying to lower our ridiculous monthly food expenses. I’m embarrassed to say how much we spend. So we’re cutting out all take-out and restaurants, and trying to meal plan better (to avoid those mid-week stops in the local overpriced co-op).
So what are your food plans for the week?

We budget $525 for groceries/supplies and we usually use every penny. For us this category includes, formula, diapers and anything you can get at a grocery store. We also budget $200 for eating out/take out.
I do notice that we do better when I meal plan but I'm lazy about it most weeks.
Tonight: Sloppy Joes and loaded french fries Tomorrow: BBQ Ranch Chicken Thighs and spinach salad Tuesday: Soft Tacos and Corn Dip Wednesday: Spaghetti w/ Meat Sauce and Garlic bread Thursday: Cookout with church friends Friday: leftovers or we will eat out Saturday: leftovers or we will eat out

I will be coming back to this! I need to meal plan tomorrow. Meal planning and shopping are hard because my husband works retail schedule so we don't have a consistent day each week where we can plan/shop.
I have recently rediscovered Skinny Taste though and my kids DEVOUR every single one of her recipes without noticing that they are loaded with vegetables. I swear she is magical.

Sunday: home made cheesy potato soup and French bread (lots of carbs) Monday: pancakes and bacon Tuesday: tacos! Wednesday: cheeseburger bombs (from Pinterest) Thursday: Club sandwiches with cottage cheese Friday: dine out
I try to budget $125 for groceries per week and $50 for dining out (includes DD meal and tip). If we do something quick like pizza ($25) then we can use $25 on another meal. But if we use all $50 we only get the one meal out that week.
My problem is I like to grab food at the cafeteria at work. It's so easy to swipe my badge and deduct it from my paycheck. I set a weekly limit for that too.

I've found doing meatless meals helps a lot with the grocery bills too, if you are open to it, bassa. That’s a good point. I used to only cook vegetarian, but DD1 is a real carnivore. She loves chicken, ground turkey and beef, but not so big on beans right now. So for protein’s sake we often have meat at dinner.

Also spending wise, I would say we spend $200-300 at Costco every 2 weeks and $100 at the grocery store every week.

So example : last night we decided on pizza because we didn't have charcoal for the grill. So tonight we'll do burgers instead of chops!
