I'm sorry for the rough start nam2013. Hopefully things get better. If not go get some ice cream and relax. Things are better! Dh and I kissed and made up, we made an effort to get stuff for a nice dinner and I think we’re going to pack up the kids and head out.

Morning! Today is mH's day to sleep in so I'm up with the kids. I'm going shopping this afternoon ALL BY MYSELF and cannot wait. Oh fun! What are you looking for?

MH is at work for a bit. We have a 7 y/o bday party this afternoon. I may be in the minority here, but it's byob which I find odd? Not that there's booze, just the byo part. I feel like if you're throwing a party expecting people to bring your kid gifts, you provide the food and drink? Or at least be like, "we'll have some beer/wine, but feel free to bring your favorite if you want something in particular" or something...
I'm clearly thinking about this way too much..

I have ended up on the couch the past two nights. Last night j got up and said his pull up leaked...I had no idea he was in our bed too, so we had to change our sheets at 2am. And the night before he was in our bed and woke me up at one point to tell me I needed to cut his toenails bc they were scraping the sheets.

wineallthetime Yeah, that's odd. Also, maybe this is a UO but I feel like people probably shouldn't be drinking enough at a 7 y.o's bday party to necessitate 'bringing their own'. We have served basics at B's parties (beer, wine, margaritas when we did Mexican one year) but those are family parties...esp. with little kids around I wouldn't want people drinking to excess. But maybe I'm reading more into it based on my own experience with "BYO" events I've been to.

I desperately need some new flat 'everyday' sandals; the pair I've loved has finally bitten the dust. And there are a few clothing/accessory items I wouldn't mind looking for. Now that I've cleaned out my closets I have a better idea of what I need to add.

So I'm not quite sure what kind of party it is. We are friends with the parents and the kids are friends. So not sure if we are invited because of us or the kids?

It really was just our neighborhood gang that always hangs out and our friends with kids C hangs out with. We supplied a lot of alcohol, cause that's how we do things. People had a few drinks, but nothing major. Nobody was drunk or even seemed tipsy. ETA: our family party was another story. My family can DRINK.

Also, this is a divorced family, so he may be having a more traditional friend party at his mom's.

With B having a summer birthday, i could see us continuing to just do summer bbqs and inviting his friends and family friends (which is what we did last year and will do this year.
We supplied the booze.
I don’t think it’s weird to still have ‘family’ parties for older kids. I’ve definitely been to a few. My bffs son (who is 10) will invite his friends and they’ll do a game truck or something but he asks his mom if the family/ family friends can come too.
She supplies the booze too

Also... hi!
We’ve had a busy weekend. B is still in his crib and S is laying around with the iPad.
Friday night I had a sitter and I went out for dinner/ drinks with 2 of S froends’ moms. It was nice, and we went to a place I can walk to so we had a few too many
Yesterday the kids were up early and I was dragging so we were out doing errands by 8 am (after a Dunkin’ stop). Then I had my 2 pregnant friends over for lunch to go through my baby stuff along with another friend and her 2 kids
Then we went to S bffs for play and taco night and stayed too long, so S was pooped and fell on his way to the car which he did not handle well
Today he has a birthday party during nap time so my parents are coming over to stay with B so I can take him
I think we will lay low and let Moana parent until then

joelies I saw your snaps, it looks like you hit parts of the park we never even saw! I never saw a construction area where they could drive it! We spent most of the day on the water side. I guess this means we have to go back!!

I guess I meant more of a situation where your kid is inviting all their classmates (even if family/friends come), so you don't know all the other parents well. I would err on the side of being conservative with the alcohol in that situation, but that's just me. Your own close friends and family, knock yourselves out. Maybe since this is the dad hosting the party, he is just not a very experienced host. BYOB sounds kind of college-y, but maybe he doesn't really know better. Not to stereotype but that kind of seems like something a lot of men would suggest 😉 eta: jewels we often had combo family/friend parties in elementary school, so I don't think it's unusual, either. We had local grandparents and aunts/uncles so they were typically invited. My uncle was always a hit at roller-skating parties b/c he could skate backwards, lol.

Morning Ladies! Need to get H out the door to pick up some brunch foods. My BFF and her H are coming to visit this morning. Then later today we are driving down for a picnic at the state park halfway between here and the ILs, to switch cars/give them our children. It's actually the state park we got married at, so I'm going to make H walk through the great Hall with me and revisit romantic memories 😁

Are you supposed to take just 2 beers, or a six pack and leave the rest behind or walk out of the house with a bag of 4 beers. Or take a bottlenof wine with the intention of having one, maybe 2, glasses. It’s awkward on too many levels.

A small cooler? In my diaper bag? Are other people going to bring drinks or will we just look like the lushes who can't go a few hours without a drink? This same couple had a bday party 2 years ago that we went to. It was a pool party and they supplied beer (and I think sangria). MH and I probably each had 2 drinks. The crowd was pretty similar to us.

Hi ladies. chrisy01 as others mentioned I didn't notice any swearing in Incredibles. However, whenever the kids pick up something inappropriate from a movie I just tell them that's inappropriate and if they can't stop repeating it they won't be watching it anymore.

Yesterday was busy. We stayed with friends in the Portland area, went to the really cool Portland Saturday market, and dropped the girls off with my mom for the week.
Last night we saw Jimmy Buffet. Not my choice. We saw him before with a friend and when she saw he was coming to town again i begrudgingly went. We were surrounded by assholes in our area. The guy in front of us kept giving the guy in front of him shit for standing and dancing. I thought, dude, it's a concert. The guy is having fun. I realize it sucks when you're behind the person standing but he was a total buzzkill.
Overall it was like the equivalent of a Raffi concert for white geriatrics.

BYOB to a birthday party sounds weird to me too, @wine. I get it if you want to bring something like that as a hostess gift, but otherwise it feels very "young" (I can't think of a better word) to me.

M and I had so much fun together yesterday. We went to a birthday party and then stopped at my friends house for a couple of hours. She was so good the whole time.
Today I’m finishing laundry, MH will take M to see incredibles 2 & then we’re going to my SIL’s to swim.

chrisy01 good luck! I missed what option you chose on how he's getting home. As of now my mom will be driving him home in 2 1/2 weeks. But he could change his mind.

They left early. Lots of tears, mostly by me. LO cried a little until the tablet was turned on then he forgot all about me.
