I had a horrible dream last night about the rally. Anyone want to try to reassure me that Trump wouldn't turn the secret service snipers against protesters? He won't even be there, right? He'll go golf. Biggest concern is the heat, stay hydrated.

shadesofgold, I'm having terrible, awful, no good dreams in that vein myself. I don't have answers, but I know people are working to make it as safe as possible. If he were to pull a stunt like that, life will never be the same. I don't think he (we) are there, yet. I think you're right and I also think I'll feel better leaving both kids at home with dad. Probably better with the heat index and there being no shade in that area.

I think we're in the same area emilyinparis because I got the same email. I think the pastor is running for mayor and since he's a candidate, MoveOn can't be affiliated. Since he already got a permit, the city won't issue another one for the same rally. I don't know why he isn't holding a rally in the town where he's running for mayor, though. Anyway, I was thinking of going, but ugh it'll be so damn hot. Game day decision I think.

If I do go, maybe we can find each other and meet up if you end up going? I would love someone to go to rallys with.

Our signs. My sweet 7yo DS made his. My almost 5yo DD wanted a rainbow so she’ll hold that one. The hands are mine and my 3yo DS so that’s his sign. I’m not sure how long we’ll stay at ours with the heat and potential thunderstorms but we’re ready and we’ll be there as long as we can.

I’m going to a funeral for a close coworker who lost his adult son it was a hard choice
So I’ll be there with you all in spirit

LOL, regal. Mine is almost identical. I don't have a picture right now and it's ugly AF, but it says: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..." with tired, poor, and huddled masses struck out. Beside them I wrote wealthy, white, cis, hetero Christians. (And yes I put them in the wrong order, I KNOW, I'm so tired I can barely think and didn't have time to fix it. 🤦♀️)

I’m waiting on the train to go to the Oakland rally. It’s not my closest but my good friend organized a group and it’s always better to protest together.
As I was pulling out of my driveway, my 60 year old neighbor held up her protest sign and waved. I rolled down my window and showed her mine. 😍

I stopped by a rally in Fairfield, CT while the boys were getting their hair cut. It was very small but there seem to be rallies in every town around here, which is awesome.
I also saw a new sign around town the other day: we care, do u?

Good message on this sign I saw even if it overlooks the fact that many of the people crossing the border are from other countries. We weren't a huge crowd in my city (this picture shows the people behind me, there were probably that many again in front of me) but we were loud. We had chants in four languages - English, French, Spanish, and Anishinaabemowin. ✊

We also had a local member of parliament speak and I think the loudest cheer of the day happened when he talked about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's win. The hope is strong for you all even in other countries, Americans. ❤️

The rally I attended was great. Strong turn out and it was organized in part by kids so most of the speakers were children. There was an amazing performance by 5th grade children. And they read out what kids wrote they would do if they were president, which was incredibly sweet and hopeful. There was a call for action for a man who is scheduled to be deported on Tuesday. I hope some lawyers can help. It’s hard to just go to a rally and not feel like you can do anything of real significance.

DC was great. I couldn't really hear the speakers but that's fine. I was interviewed by a Swiss radio station and a local news org, which I am slightly terrified will be published but whatever. Now have a venti iced drink and heading to the pool.

Thank you all. I couldn't make ours, but from what it sounds like, they had a good turn out.

Just got back from marching with my family. The turnout was great and people were supportive in cars along the route. The highlight was a crane operator way up in the sky who was honking and waving to us.

Ours was good. A friend met us there who has never been politically involved or been to a protest/march before, so that made me hopeful.

Incredible turnout here. There were 17 confirmed people according to the event info and when I got there the count was 50 something. By time it was in full swing I heard them say closer to 100. For this area that's unbelievable.
DHS was there, and parked all their vehicles in front of the building we protested at. There was still somewhat decent visibility from the street but I definitely eye rolled at that.

Our organizers estimated we had 700-800 people there. This is Alabama you guys. I’m amazed.

My 1 YO was very cuddly at the rally and it made me so incredibly sad and angry to think of the children and parents away from each other. It’s just heartbreaking.

I love their decked-out hiking ensembles and the way they complimented everyone else's signs.

I didn't get to go out as I had people at my house but with all the coverage I enjoyed seeing the people from all races and ages out supporting people from south of the border. It shows that so many aren't as racist as I thought they would be.
