So we have known that ds2 has a peanut and possible tree nut allergies for several years but with everything else going on with him we have just put it on the back burner and avoided foods that contain those items and he has had no reactions for almost 2 years now.
I asked his pediatrician for a referral for allergy testing and she said she could do a blood test instead of a scratch test. Awesome. Results came back yesterday and he has high reaction to peanuts and low reaction to wheat, soy and fungus (not even worrying about that one, like the kid would actually eat a mushroom). For some reason they didn’t test for tree nuts so the jury is still out on that one.
I’m going to ask for a referral to an allergist to see the severity of the wheat and soy and what all I need to avoid (like soybean oil? Soy lecithin?). In the meantime google hasn’t been super helpful so we are going to try to avoid all wheat and soy. Anyone else with these allergies? Any helpful tips? I went down to the store last night and bought all the gluten and soy free things I could. Any favorite snacks? He loves cheeze-it’s and goldfish crackers. Any suggestions on substitutes?l
I’m crossing everything that cutting out the wheat and soy improves his Eczema. He also was just diagnosed with adhd so any behavior improvements would be awesome.

i'm surprised they didn't test for tree nuts. i love these crackers, but without the tree nut clarity you probably don't want to chance it. www.simplemills.com/products/fine-ground-sea-salt-almond-flour-crackers DD2 has a peanut allergy, and has every food sensitivity in the world for most of her first year, so she and i both avoided soy (all soy until recently, including oil and lecithin) and wheat. tortilla chips (check the bag to make sure it's not soybean/vegetable oil), corn tortillas (same), potato chips, beef jerky (many of them have soy sauce, i think oberto brand is one that has soy-free flavors?) are good convenience foods. i'd do this if we could eat dairy! so good. www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/parmesan-crisps-recipe-3381387 i would fully expect cutting out wheat and soy to help eczema.

Thanks agm04! Yeah, the peanut allergy was so much easier to handle because he could still have things produced with them as long as it didn’t actually contain peanuts. Wheat and soy seem to be in everything. He did eat some gluten free Mac and cheese for lunch and didn’t seem to mind it once he got over it being in a purple box instead of a blue one.

My son is allergic to wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and recently outgrew soy this past December. Cutting out wheat should really improve eczema. My son's skin was terrible before we knew he was allergic, and it has been clear for over a year now with minimal issues here and there. Some brands I buy: Enjoy Life, Made Good, Free2Be, Aldi's LiveGFree brand. Chex has gluten free cereal...my son is crazy about their cinnamon flavor. The only bread I ate while avoiding soy is Ener-G bread. Just warm it up first and it's edible. I avoided soybean oil and soy lecithin. I can't think of everything else, but if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Ds had a short lived, but severe, wheat allergy. Thankfully we only had to deal with it for about 8 months of his life from 5 months old on. Since he was so young he wasnt getting many meals at DC and whatnot so it was easier for us. He lived on Cheerios for snacks, and he loved these: Lance Gluten Free Crackers, Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, 5 Ounce (Pack of 4) www.amazon.com/dp/B016NRIU28/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Y4ejBbCB94AAPThey make them in cheese too.
