I'm kinda glad my kid isn't the only one; DS was upset when the "toy machines" at our grocery store stopped delivering toys. Quite rightly, he did waste $1.50 trying to get one, so I told him we'd let the cashier know. He was very polite but very insistent, so she called over the manager and next thing I know my 5 year old is getting a refund... My kid, in response to hearing the restaurant was out of lemonade, said "excuse me" to the server, asked if they bought or made their own lemonade, then told him he could just squeeze some lemons into some water or something. He’s not wrong.

This is FFFC thread? Yes? Or no? You chose to post a confession that included your kid and I think it’s strange. I don't disagree with you that it's strange.......but toddlers are weird. So I just laugh and KOKO until the appeal of it wears off.
And I can mildly tease him about it later in life. Lolzzzzz
That picture would look lovely in his senior yearbook as a full-page spread...

I don't think it's that much weirder than any other small child attachment to random inanimate objects. If my kid wanted to sleep with a bag of something and it made her GTFTS, I would probably allow it.

I'm doing one of those three-part pictures for H for Father's Day — with DD holding a D, A, D. I bought the letters on Amazon recently, and I bought two D's. ... It took me .... a while .... to realize the problem.

I think this is a pick your battles situation with the cat food. Do I tell him no and deal with a hellbeast at bedtime or do I let it go and save myself from a night of fighting a honey badger. I'd pick the latter myself. It's not like he's eating the cat food or pouring it all over the bed.

I shouldn’t talk tho because my almost 7yo is still attached to a receiving blanket that no longer looks like a blanket. I’d PIP but it’s embarrassing. Another FFFC: I still have the remnants of my favorite blanket from when I was a toddler. It's hidden away in one of my drawers. But my Nana made it and she died before I had any memories of her, so that's mostly why I still have it.

Kids get attached to weird shit. I think the cat food thing is cute. He just wants to help grandma and provide for the cat! Gotta protect the food until Jack can get it.

My kid cuddled a watering can for about a week. He also occasionally takes a (clean) trashcan to bed with him. Not a big deal to me. Choose your battles and all that. There is no battle. I am the parent. Nice to meet you. The end.

A few weeks ago in the drinking thread someone posted a link to weird things you can buy on amazon. One of tbd things listed was bed sheet clips, they are like suspenders for your bed. Well I bought some and they make me so happy This is a household staple. Not weird.

If my kid wanted to sleep with a bag of something and it made her GTFTS, I would probably allow it. Usually stuff like this wears off too. I think in his mind he's making sure nothing happens to it until he can bring it to my mom's and help feed the cats. Which I find funny. I am just glad we will be seeing her tomorrow so we can finally get rid of it.

I wouldn’t put that cat food in the crib because my kid at that age would have probably eaten it or made a mess at the very least.

I'm imagining some scenario where cat food is spilled in the bed or daycare and it's making me want to hork. I would have said a hard no to all of that. Also his daycare would have been like if I asked them to let DS bring that. I do agree the sending to daycare is more than I'd do. Even if it's a comfort item, it's food and that can lead to ants.

I would have to nix the cat food because DD would definitely use a hair barrette to break into it. It’s her new thing, like a mini Macgyver.

My kids sleeping with approximately 10,000 stuffed animals is less odd now.

I'd pick the latter myself. It's not like he's eating the cat food or pouring it all over the bed. Yeah this is part of where I am coming from too - if I make a big deal about it he's just going to want it more. He sits it in the corner and that's that. Carries it with him in the cart if we buy it, and took it to daycare where it sat by the door most of the day.
So I am just waiting for the appeal of it to wear off.

I'm a kill spirit with the cat food baby.
I have food crumbs and stains all over my bed. Just last night, I was eating fresh cherries and a crumbly protein bar. I accidentally pulled the covers up with my cherry juice fingers.
