sunshiney For what it's worth I taught a Dax. Girl, not boy. Smart, gorgeous, athletic, so I have good associations with the name. If you want to get your H off it as a boy name maybe mention that in some places it's becoming quite trendy as a girl's name;)

Man we can’t find any boy names we both like. DS1 and DS2 are both Celtic surnames. I’d like to keep it Irish/Scottish/English for a boy I think. Although I’m German/Polish. Nothing in the top 50. Naming a third boy is going to be hard.

k why are boy names so hard??? I feel like if we have a boy this time he's going to be nameless until he's 5.

Naming a third boy is going to be hard. THIS. I'm a bit freaked out about it because our first son has two super meaningful family names; our second son we pulled it off and found two great family names as well but we went back 5 generations to find one we loved. I have to find a family name because I don't want #3 to feel left out! I never thought I would have three boys and while it isn't in stone yet, I'm pretty much assuming it will be a boy.

Ended up arguing yesterday, not about the names but about HOW we should discuss the names (apparently there can be no such thing as too sensitive to my very touchy feelings right now, sorry DH!). But that helped us have a great conversation today, we're now 99% on a girl fn/mn combo which happens to be my two top choices for years (win!) And he truly loves them. And 95% on a boy first name, with a short list of middles we both would be happy with. So now I am a big proponent of having a freak out and then using the reconnecting aftermath to get sh*t done.

You totally can. We didn't name DD until she was a month old:/ What did you call her until then?! Baby girl:/ We had a few names but just couldn't decide so we rotated through and called her something different every time. If we hadn't decided on a name when we did they would have put "Baby Girl (last name)" as her legal name. We need to get our act together this time.
