Tl;dr- I had a baby! 19 minutes from hospital admittance to birth. An hour and a half before birth I was in bed asleep.

Sunday I was having regular but very mild contractions during the day but none at night. Monday they were less frequent but more intense. Tuesday even fewer & yesterday (Wed) I only had one or two.
I woke up sometime between 3 & 330am to go to the bathroom. Laid down and immediately got back up with contractions I had to walk or sway to get through. Woke MH up after 2 or so of those and told him to call his dad to come over so we could head to the hospital. Grabbed my phone and started timing contractions. My ILs got there in a few minutes & off we went.
I couldn’t sit in the car so I got in the backseat. Made the 10 minute drive to the hospital, contractions more intense. I paced my way through contractions as we checked in. Sat down in the wheelchair to go up to L&D but I hopped up again with another contraction. Sitting was not happening.
They brought me straight to a delivery room. Called the OB & anesthesiologist. Managed to get lying down on the monitor & checked. Cervix was at a 7, nearly an 8, water bag bulging.
I wanted an epidural so the nurse started an IV. I said I had to stand up; nurse said my water would break. I tried to stay in the bed but absolutely couldn’t, so I stood up.
Baby’s heartbeat maybe dropped or maybe they couldn’t get it on the monitor in that position so I tried laying on my right side.
Baby moved so they asked me to roll to my left side. I thought I was going to puke & that’s when I knew baby was coming now. Got on my hands & knees to turn over - contraction, I think I pushed a bit, and my water broke(meconium stained). The nurses told me not to push but I yelled “I don’t know how not to push!”
I flipped to my back & he was crowning. Three pushes and he was out. He had the cord around his neck twice so they cut it quick. He was purple & silent. Hustled him across the room for medical care. He had lots of fluid in his lungs & first attempts at suction were unsuccessful but once it started coming out he perked up.
The OB showed up and helped deliver the placenta. I had a mild first degree tear but it was “really jagged” so he put in two stitches.
It was the nurse’s first unassisted (no OB) birth. She said afterward with the meconium stained water & the cord around his neck twice, she prayed he wouldn’t get his shoulder stuck coming out because she wasn’t sure she could handle three things going wrong.
Also my “intake” urine sample is going to test positive for narcotics because I didn’t give it until after I’d taken a pain pill post delivery.
