Good morning! I had another crappy night of sleep. It’s 3 or 4 days now and I am over it. It wasn’t even the baby’s fault although today he was very noisy at 5:15. MH needs to get over this cold so that he won’t be congested anymore. I have to buy the kiddos some clothes today. Little man needs pjs and onesies is 6-9m. G needs new pjs too. They haven’t been out of the house in two or three days because we have been sick so it will be good to get them out for a bit.

This is how dull my life is.... our Optimist Club in town does a program where they will put a large flag on your boulevard on certain holidays and we just signed up June 1. I was so excited to see our flag this morning. (It's flag day) I know our neighbor is going to go nuts and will call immediately to know how she can get one.

I'm almost certain Faith has a cold. Lots of congestion and what looks like snot in her poop... My parents are coming into town this afternoon for the weekend and I'm going to go get her from daycare around 1:00. It will keep us under 32 hours which means we don't pay for the full week since we will keep her home tomorrow. Between the cold and lack of daytimes sleep I'm worried about her.
I'm also calling the doctor's office shortly to see what I need to do to get a doctor's note that daycare can let her sleep in places other than the crib. She falls asleep but wakes up during the transfer because state law doesn't allow them to let her stay there.

Happy Thursday all! DS has his 4 month shots yesterday and had such a rough evening. He just cried and cried for a few hours- big crocodile tears, it was so sad. He's normally such a happy baby and *knock on wood* he really has only ever cried when he was hungry or tired, for a few minutes at most. So yesterday was new territory for us! He had a fever (101.1) overnight too. He had a fever after his two month shots too. Seeing them not feel well is the worst!!

And now I'm literally crying. My pediatrician won't sign a form/note allowing daycare to let Faith stay where she falls asleep "it isn't safe or recommended". I don't know what to do short of quitting my job to care for her and I really don't want to do that just because she won't sleep at daycare. She needs to sleep during the day and she might get one hour of solid sleep during the day, everything is is in 10-15 minute cat naps. She comes home a zombie and takes a long nap, wakes up long enough to eat and then we put her down for the night. We rarely get to play with her and see her smile because she is asleep. I just don't know what to do.

aprilz81 can they put her down before she’s asleep? I know a lot of babies that wake up if you try to transition them.

Deep breaths.

I just got back from looking at counter tops. That place is my heaven. I was drooooooling over some of the more expensive slabs but obviously didn’t want to go for those since we’re selling our house. Next kitchen 😊
I’m sitting at MILs waiting for H to wake up from her nap, while MIL took DD1 to the Ice cream farm down the street. She has a cold and isn’t feeling super great today so I want to go home so she can nap too! I know it’s only a matter of time now before H gets her cold since she’s always up in her face 😑

aprilz81 I’m very sorry. That sounds very frustrating. I agree with pp’s it may take a little more time to adjust. Maybe they can spend a little extra time with her to get into a routine ? T had her 4 month appointment today and H said she did well. 12lbs 9oz from 6lbs 6oz at birth. A small flat spot (similar to DD1) so just need monitor and increase tummy time.

amesie, this is week 3. I knew it would be an adjustment but didn't think it would take this long... We are keeping her home tomorrow, she will be there all next week then be home with me the week of July 4th because I'm off work. So I'm hoping we don't backslide too much. kbw, that is my next step with them next week. I'm going to ask that they do everything possible to not let her fall asleep in a "device". When I picked her up today they said she does great when they lay her down drowsy but awake in a crib, so I'm not sure why they aren't doing that all the time. I guess it is just that they are outnumbered. She was dropped of a few minutes after 8 this morning and she had two naps, one an hour and one 30 minutes and had just drifted off when I picked her up at 1:00. I think some of this is the cold and not her adjusting but that does make me feel better. She is sleeping in her crib now as I'm working. I'm hoping a nice long nap with help everyone.

aprilz81 she also just may be transitioning out of longer naps. DD1 is only napping a total of 2 - 2 1/2 hours a day at daycare between 2 naps.

aprilz81 first off hugs. +1 maybe to transitioning longer naps. L doesn’t nap some days (or even weeks) and I stay at home. Give her time she’ll get there.

She slept just over three hours this afternoon, but she also has a cold so I'm not sure what is what. Having her home for a few days for some TLC will be good and next week I'll make sure to have the daycare people be more intentional about putting her in a crib when she starts to look sleepy or nod off. If she falls asleep in the crib she will usually sleep for at least an hour.

Today I feel accomplished. I got H his Father’s Day present and packed a few boxes! I got both kids to take naps at the same time! 🍾 unfortunately me and the kids are all congested but we’ll manage. Once I put this kid down I am going to go make a hot cup of tea. Hopefully H will be home soon. I predict a repeat of last night of being asleep promptly at 9. I fed L right before going to sleep and got a 4 hour stretch. Woot! This kids got one more month and I am going to sleep train his cute butt!

pippiann I decided to sleep train tonight. Kid #1 I was at my wits end and cried and read books. This time I decided it is time to break the suck to sleep association put the crib together and said goodnight. He cried for less than 20 minutes.

Do you do checks or just straight CIO? I have a feeling I will do the same when we move! I am slowly losing my mind. Keep me posted in how he progresses!

No checks except for when the toddler went in because "brother is crying" and gave him his stuffed bear. I know this baby can fall asleep in the swing and self soothe by sucking his thumb so I didn't think it would be too bad. I go by the don't feed until after midnight rule.

aprilz81 hugs. Being a working momma is so hard. Where were you trying to get them to let her sleep? Sorry if I missed it, I skimmed. I remember feeling like I never saw or interacted with my baby for a good month or two each time after I went back to work. It is so hard, but I promise it passes. Plus it made me treasure the weekends, and I didn't mind the girls napping on me because I missed them so much. If you are feeling drastic you could always research care alternatives. I have had an awesome experience with in home care and it is considerably cheaper. Please do not think I am judging your care choice at all, I just mean to say if you are truly unhappy there are always other options.

I was letting daycare do whatever they wanted in regards to sleep so this will be a "new" rule of asking them to put her in a crib before she falls asleep in hopes that she will start to take better naps during the day. I think we are going to give it another week or two and then reevaluate. I work from home so I can have a teenager come in during the day to be the primary caregiver but also be here to handle emergencies. We can also look for in home care centers, but while I know a lot of people have good experiences I'm also nervous with that option. Even if I trust the caregiver and the home I don't know who is in and out of there all day.

Hi guys. I'm so overwhelmed with work and school and life but I'm here.
O is starting the 4mo sleep regression so it's throwing off all her eating times and making me anxious. I need her to keep eating at 6/9/12/3 because I'm only pumping enough for 3 bottles a day (~13-14oz so I do get a little extra but not a whole bottle). If she eats earlier than 6 and I need to send 4 I'll be struggling to keep up. I have a stash but I didn't really want to dig into it at 4mo. I do only pump for maybe 12 minutes to get that so I guess I can increase the length of my pump sessions as well. Ugh. So much stress.
With my older I worked from home half the time so I only had to pump 3 days a week, not 5. But I keep thinking.. It's OK.. I have a fair amount of vacation time coming up where I'll be able to just nurse AND by the end of the summer she'll be 6mo.
Anyway..... I have one week of my leadership class left and then I just have 3 more classes to complete - and I get a break for 4th of July so I'm looking forward to a few days off work and school to just be with my girls.
I really need to start crib sleep with O this weekend. She's rolling back to side and is almost at back to belly rolling so it won't be safe to keep her in the RnP anymore. Her night reflux seems to have basically gone away which I am thrilled by. She loves daycare so that makes me less stressed.
