A good steak doesn't NEED anything else. But sometimes it's nice to have a legit sauce or some gorgonzola or something just for variety.

Yes a good steak shouldn’t need sauce but there is a time and place for a filet Oscar. Like at Del Frisco’s around Christmas time. Or just because. Funny. So when MH was in finance, he literally went to a different steakhouse every night of the week. He’s been to every steakhouse in the city and has very strong opinions. His birthday is the week before Christmas and we go out for a steak dinner at Del Frisco’s every year. He has been everywhere and he swears Del Frisco’s Double Eagle is the best of the best. That steak Oscar makes braving the city Christmas crowds worth it. Del Friscos is a staple with us. We usually go once a year around our birthday/anniversary.

I'm with many of you, a good steak doesn't NEED sauce. But if a good bearnaise sauce is available, it's happening. Never, ever, ever do I use A1 or ketchup, but DH uses A1 sometimes... and I cringe every single time.
