After a super long night full of nausea and terrible heartburn, I finally managed to fall asleep somewhere after 3 am and slept until my alarm went off at 5:30. My stomach was feeling really bad so I took my time getting the last minute things ready and getting dressed while H got dressed and had some breakfast. I did end up getting sick and threw up some bile and the rest of my supper from last night, so at least my stomach was empty of food.
Headed to the hospital, got checked in, and headed up to L&D. Got changed and hooked up to the monitor for a bit while they set up my IV, and then we just waited for the surgical team. I got walked back about 7:45, and the anesthesiologist put my spinal in at about 8:00. I did yelp a bit when she was doing the numbing shot, but it took affect really quickly, and then when she put in the spinal it was extremely fast.
Unfortunately my BP dropped quite a bit from the spinal, and I ended up throwing up quite a bit of bile, to the point where they were a little concerned, but once my BP stabilized and they gave me the nausea medicine it felt better.
F.inn Wil.liam was born at 8:25, weighing 6lbs 4oz, and approximately 19 inches long. He had his cord wrapped around his neck, and was so excited he gulped some amniotic fluid on the way out. His heart rate was very low, and he stopped breathing for a little bit, so he had a lot of people there working on him, and then he got taken back to the nursery while I went to recovery. Needless to say, it was pretty nerve wracking and my anxiety was really high. I cried a bit.
They took some of my milk back to him, and a little while later they wheeled me back. He was snoozing, but as soon as they put him on me he started searching for my breast. They put him on my right breast and he ate for 20 minutes before he unlatched. We tried to put him on my left, but he was done and just wanted to cuddle and snooze.
They had to do some more blood tests on him, so they put him back in the incubator and moved me into my room, which is where I am now, eating a little bit of soup and tea for lunch. If he's still okay in a couple of hours he can come in the room with us.
The numbing is pretty much out and I'm a little sore, but not too bad. Looking forward to getting up and around in a little bit.
