katietopaz , is it for an inhaler or a nebulizer? Leaf 🌱 is right about the nebulizer trick. I think our babies are too young for an inhaler. It will be an inhaler with a "spacer" that should come with a mask that covers his mouth and nose. The pediatrician said a nebulizer was the other option, but since it often comes with a higher copay from insurance she recommended the inhaler and spacer/mask. Apparently they should function pretty similarly? I'm partly talking out my butt here because I don't have them in hand yet. Google just tells me they're similar. Thank you for the tip about doing it when he's sleeping! I'll give that a try, if that will work with the equipment we end up with.

We drove 3 hours today to meet up with my BFF and her family and my brother. It was a long, exhausting trip but so cute to see Em play with my BFF'S kids. We've been besties since preschool so I hope our kids continue that tradition.
I go back to work on Friday, but I WFH until Tuesday. I'm really not happy about it.

Hugs cornpop. I had a dream last night that my H told me we could afford for me to stay home and was thrilled until I woke up and remembered that I still have to go back to work in 3 weeks😞

Has anyone had to do a breathing treatment through an inhaler with a baby before? I took DS2 to the doctor today for a persistent cough and the start of some wheezing, and she thinks he has the start of a viral infection. I'll go pick up the inhaler and spacer (mask thing?) from the pharmacy in a little bit, but she mentioned that he'll probably hate it. Any tips or tricks? If possible, do it while he’s asleep and just hold the mask up to his face. DD1 has to use a nebulizerand would SCREAM if it came near here 😑 Do not attempt by yourself - someone needs to hold him down - swaddle him, and go.

Well today is the last day of vacation.
We had a pretty good time visiting family. It’s always hard leaving. I feel especially guilty whenever we visit DH’s family because his sister’s kids are all around the same age as mine and they just have the best time together. I feel like I’m cheating my kids out of that relationship. And everyone is always begging us to move back to our hometown. So much guilt. It’s hard too because I am definitely the reason we are where we are and DH would move back home in a heart beat.
I haven’t been doing a great job of keeping up here so I’m off to catch up.

katietopaz how did it go with the inhaler? cornpop ((hugs)) i hope you enjoy your last day of leave! It’s nice you get to WFH for a few days to ease back into it, but I know it’s so hard.

I feel that way a lot. We lived close to SO's family and moved back to my hometown when DS was a baby. His family is always trying to get us to move back. It's so hard to know that my kids aren't growing up close to that side of their family.

I think E is teething already. She's been drooling like a rabid animal and I noticed 3 little tooth buds on her gums tonight. I did not expect it to start so young.

We got back from our trip at 3am this morning and we are all exhausted today. D1 loved it and had a blast with her cousins so it was all worth it. I'm still super sick and luckily I have an appt tomorrow for something else but I think I have bronchitis so I hope I'll get an inhaler to use because nighttime is so awful.
I'm in the bathroom steaming myself because I can't breathe and Mh is dealing with a screaming baby. Nothing will soothe her tonight. She has been drooling and putting her hands in her mouth nonstop today so I'm not sure if it's her teething or something else.

I'm glad you had a nice visit. I definitely understand the moving away from family. Both DH's and my family live in the same city. Most of the time I would love to move back home so my kids can grow up with their cousins. Unfortunately, it's hard when I know that we can provide for them better where we live now...but at the same time I don't really want them to miss growing up with family.

clementine He hates the inhaler mask since I have to push it against his face to make a kind of seal, but we're powering through. If we end up having to do this longer-term, though, I'll definitely look into getting a nebulizer instead. I'm sorry that it sounds like some of the babies are starting to teethe. Hang in there, friends!!

Thanks sweetc129! I feel like such a mean mom keeping him awake when he’s so clearly tired. Appt is at 9:40 so we just need to make it through the 20 min car ride and then he can finally sleep.

I hope everything goes ok today clementine. The baby had to get an EKG and an Echo done yesterday. She started fussing during the echo and they put a tiny bit of sugar water on her pacifier and she fell asleep and stayed asleep for it. For some reason the sugar water helps put them to sleep.

Everything went well with the EEG. They were running behind so L was suuuuper tired and fussy by the time they called us back. He fell asleep while she was hooking everything up and then woke up just as she was about to start. So she adjusted all the wires so I could hold him and nurse. He fell back asleep then and stayed asleep the rest of the test. We’ll supposedly hear back from his pedi next week about the results. 🤞🏼 all smiles after a short nap! [\spoiler]

God, Edie just scared the shit out if me. She was napping and woke up fussy so I snuggled her and nursed her for a few minutes. She finished and I was sitting her up and she kind of gagged on some saliva and it took her a few tries to breathe ok. I put her up on my shoulder and she fell back asleep. When I moved her a few minutes later so was so white. Like chalky white. It scared the shit out of me. I woke her up and she was responsive and breathing ok but it took her 10 minutes or so to regain her colour. I was ready to go straight to the hospital. She seems ok but kind of gassy and fell back asleep. I called the doctor's office and they just said to keep a close eye on her and obviously take her in if it happens again.

That's so scary snowmoon, I hope it doesn't happen again. It reminds me of a Scary incident I had with DS when he was four or five months old, I still cry when I think about how awful that feeling was.

Our refrigerator just died. It sucks, but I’m really glad that it happened today instead of tomorrow when I was supposed to go grocery shopping. At least I won’t be throwing a bunch of food out. I’m also really, really glad that I am not pumping and freezing milk. I remember crying over spilling a bottle of milk....I don’t even want to think about losing a whole freezer full.

She woke up inconsolable and then projectile vomited yellow bile all over me. So we're at the ER. She's sleeping again and we're just waiting but all of her stats were good.

I'm glad to hear the appt went well. We met with the pediatric cardiologist right after each test and everything looks fine. Mh's mom has a rare heart condition that can be genetic so they did the tests as a precaution. We did the same for D1. I hope you get positive test results soon.
