Must be nice to have more than one pediatrician in town.
Does anyone want $20 in Old Navy super cash? I'm not going to use it and it expires today.

We went with the pediatrician's office that was closest to our house and affiliated with our hospital. The practice then assigned us to someone who was open once the kid was born. What sucks about that method is that we absolutely adore her but now neither XH or I live near the practice so we drive through city traffic for her.

Currently contemplating packing up the kids and driving far far away from H.

I think my pediatrician choosing was done by clicking on one of the pictures and going "well she looks nice. I guess she'll do". Using the scientific method right there. Same. And we love her, enough that we kept her when my insurance switched. I overheard her talking one day about how next to clean water, vaccines are the number one most important thing for kids worldwide. So I fell in love, obviously.

Hey there everyone! Boring Sunday here. Currently watching Blaze with DD3. I have baby fever so bad. H thinks I’m trippin. 4 kids?! I’m out of my mind.

This office is four miles from our house and the next closest one that has pediatrics is triple that. So I'm definitely choosing one at this location.

This company stopped seeing unvaccinated kids several years ago and people were in an uproar. I'm so glad they did though. MH and I are both patients there and I'm happy to be able to use their pediatrics as well.

I just made a post on FB asking who everyone local to me used. Then looked the most popular one up online. I chose a practice with multiple doctors and multiple locations. They've been a dream to deal with. No issues making same day appointments or getting ahold of someone. No antivaxxer bullshit tolerated there either.

I had a really nice, tasty dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Had a good day working on some projects and then relaxed listening to music on the back deck.
Also, was able to surpass my protein goal for the day! It was hard and required a lot of planning, but hopefully I will get the hang of it.

On that note, my mom asked me the other day if I was going to vaccinate. I was like...yes? That's a question? I don't know what made her think I would even consider not doing it. 🤔

I'm trying to figure out what to do about a pediatrician for this kid. We can't make it to the meet and greet at the office location we would be going to. None of the doctors' profiles are speaking to me in terms of someone I really want to meet with or don't want to meet with. The biggest thing was I wanted a practice that doesn't see unvaccinated kids and they don't. Should I just call and be like, set me up with someone who's taking new patients? I'm sure I'm not the first new parent to call and have no clue what they're doing but ugh. Likes others of said, check about the ability to get same day sick appointments. Also ask about hours. I loved my kids first pedi, but I could only ever get appts between 9 and 3:30 and it switched over to an after hours nurses line at 4:30. Our new pedi office has hours that go until 7:30-8pm during the week and Saturday morning until noon. It’s saved us on having to go to urgent care!

misspatty we went to the pediatrician with DS1 when he was teething (didn’t know that’s what it was). The pediatrician told us it happens all he time. FWIW DS2 is teething currently. I hope she feels better soon.

Hospital affiliation is really important to me now. I didn't really care until my second kiddo got a serious diagnosis. Every single one of his providers is affiliated with the same hospital and it makes things so streamlined. Referrals, test results, sending notes, billing... It's all together.

I think I meant DD2. She’s the third kid but I only have two girls. So that means I have DD1 DS and DD2? Correct?

Today was hell. H woke up in a mood and middle DS has HFM. Just finished a Sweetwater IPA and I’d have another if I wasn’t worried about the cranky baby waking to eat.

goldenbird with DD, I got a pedi rec from my OB. We moved when I was pregnant with DS, and I got a list of recs from our new neighborgood Listserv. Based on that list, I chose the doc affiliated with the best children’s hospital in the area.

You go every few months for the first year so you will meet lots of them, then you'll know who you prefer. But in the end you will see whoever is available when you need a sick visit so it's good to see them all anyway

My OB gave out a list of pediatricians they recommend when I was somewhere in third tri. I chose the practice closest to our house from that list and it worked out since you have to go kind of often the first year.

So I just e-mail boxed company--the neighboring town gets the fresh express delivery, but we don't. I doubt it will make a difference-but I would love that service by us.

goldenbird, I’d try to see all of the providers at the close pediatrician to figure out if there is one you prefer. You will be in there a lot during the first couple years, so lots of opportunities to do so. FWIW, we love all three pedis who are regulars at the practice we use (there are pedis from other locations who occasionally fill in). They all know my kids and are really great with them, so I really have no preference.
