Hey ladies!
I was wondering what everyone thought about doing a board-wide check in every month for all IFers. I noticed that the IVF thread has gone monthly and I feel like there are only really 10-15 of us on this board? It might be nice to have more of us in one thread for more support. Just a thought. I know things were done in a specific way on the previous boards, but with so few here maybe it makes more sense to combine. It might make it feel a little busier, too! Thoughts?
ETA: I meant one checkin to take the place of the two we currently have, if that wasn’t clear. When I read back it kind of sounded like I was suggesting an additional thread, which I’m not!

I would be up for that obscureference! I think it’s a great idea, especially since there are several of us that are or may be transitioning to the IVF thread. I’m open to what others want to do though.

We could try it if people want to. A bunch of us in the IVF thread are benched for now though (part of why we’ve gone monthly) so I don’t know if combining with TI/IUI might bring up some triggers. Wha if we kept the treatment threads separate for now, but had an extra board-wide chit chat thread? It would be nice to have more interaction between the two groups!

That’s a good point about triggers bonzo. I hadn’t thought about that. I would be interested in a thread for all of us to chat together!

I didn’t think about triggers. What type of triggers? I’m just curious and I would like to offer my support to a couple of the IUI/TI ladies that are getting close to moving to IVF. And just generally support other IF ladies. We could try a general IF checkin maybe? In addition to the treatment threads?

I'm new here, so I'll go along with whatever you ladies decide, but I see the point of triggers. Maybe we could keep the check-ins separate but add a randoms/GTKY thread?

I'd like to hear thoughts from some more of the IVF ladies on this. As one of the people who is most likely moving on to IVF soon I kinda like the idea of combining threads (we just combined over on TTGP and have gotten a lot more interaction FWIW), but that is purely a personal and selfish reason.

Triggers.... So this is incredibly specific to my case, but after my last failed IVF I was told donor eggs were my best option as I would likely never get pregnant with my own eggs. For a couple months while I processed and grieved, BFPs were very difficult. I actually took a break from the IVF check in for a while, but even when I came back I didn’t lurk the TI/IUI thread for a while because it all just seemed so unfair. Like, it sucks that any of us are here, but why does one thing work for some but it won’t work for me? It was a really really rough few months. Personally, I’m in a far better place now, but I want to make sure there continues to be as safe a space as possible for anyone facing similar feelings. We won’t all have the same triggers at the same time, and triggers are not always logical. But we can only do our best to keep the threads safe and supportive, no matter what anyone is going through.
All that said, maybe I’m being overly protective? I definitely want to hear from more of the IVF ladies!

Current IVFer here. I am ok with a combined check in. I think the slower pace of the IVF process is why the two were separated. But with our lower numbers, I think combing the threads for more interaction would be nice. I’ll occasionally pop in to the IUI checkin, but don’t want to post and feel like I’m invading that space. I agree with bonzo. The BFPs are tough. My coping mechanism is to step back until I can get my head in a positive mindset that one person’s journey does not affect mine.

jacks That’s how I feel about the IVF thread! I pop in but don’t feel like I should post I think we can all agree that bfps are tough and hard to deal with. I think everyone has been great about being sensitive about that, and honestly, we haven’t had many, at least in the ti/iui thread. I’ve looked over at PAIF every once in awhile and there is literally one person there right now, so that’s an indicator of how few there really have been. Well however we decide, I am here rooting for everyone on this board so hard!

Late, but I have no strong feelings either way. You've probably noticed, since I sometimes comment on it, that I stalk the IUI checkin anyway, so it doesn't make a difference to me.
And I just want us all to graduate.
