Hi guys,
N STILL has a low grade fever. Doctor said she has a bad cold since ears are clear, but doing drops since she had a little drainage. MH is home with her and I'm at work like a mad woman in case I have to stay home tomorrow since MH can't miss tomorrow.
On the bright side both kids have slept through the night and stayed in their beds 2 nights in a row!
K I should not be on here today since I need to finish my work. Have a good day!

Hi! My layoffs are over with. The second guy took it well. Now it’s just the aftermath and rebuilding the team. Warning Rant Ahead: People are pissing me off today though. First my boss and i agreed that we should have a staff retreat next week to address some of the changes and group dynamics. So i emailed everyone to let them know because their work hours would be different. Then my boss calls me freaking out that we are rushing this and need to really plan it out (i reminded her that our call at 2:30 today is to plan). Then she flips when i told her i already notified everyone and was almost trying to back out of it. She doesn’t realize that people need advance notice of things, if i wait any longer they’ll be pissed. Plus she told me to get people’s thoughts on what they want to get out of the retreat. How can i do that without telling them?!
Then this girl on my team who is the biggest complainer and negative person about anything and everything responded to my email that she has no comment at this time on what we should work on at the retreat. So basically I’m giving her a chance to proactively give input so it can be worth her while but she has nothing to add. What she’ll do instead is criticize everything during and after the meeting. It’s so easy to find flaws in stuff but the harder part is finding solutions, she obviously wants to stick to her M.O. i seriously want to call her out on this because her constant negativity about how everything is done wrong wears me down. I’m giving her an opportunity to give her input and she has nothing. I seriously want to TP her. END RANT!

inthekitty our first plan was west USA & Canada ... but the flight is soooo long, we don’t feel comfortable camping there (bears...), I already had nightmares about walking the rim in the Grand Canyon and the distances are huge. So we’ll do that when the kids are a little older. That sounds like a good plan. I really want to see more of the national parks--Yosemite and the Grand Canyon especially. But that kind of travel sounds like fresh hell with young kids. I want them to really be able to hike before we do those kinds of trips. And we're definitely more spread out on the West Coast. Sometimes when people think of Americans not travelling I don't think they consider that even though it's only 1 state away it takes me about 5 hours just to drive to Idaho...and Idaho's it's own special world. It's like travelling to a foreign country. I wanted to do a long weekend to Canada this spring but it didn't happen. It's embarrassing that I live this close and have only been once. But once again, it's a 5 hr drive to Vancouver so it's still something to set aside time off to go there. I need to get passports for the kids too.

I'm sorry for the work stress snoopmommymom . You've had a lot on your plate there lately. People are fun sometimes. I laughed when I talked to my mom this morning when she asked how my morning meeting went and I replied I won't be sad someday when I never see these people again.

snoopmommymom that is typical. We have A LOT of personnel and procedural issues here. We had a workshop a few weeks ago to try to improve communication and how people treat others. Most of the biggest complainers said almost nothing during the workshop but continue to bitch all the time. It's super annoying.

We've definitely added some of those (Yosemite, Yellowstone, etc) to our bucket list. It's kind of embarrassing but as an east-coaster I tend to forget about that stuff a bit, but it's really amazing that we have places like that in our country. We are going to do the Grand Canyon on our trip in the fall (that I mentioned last night). We're staying in Scottsdale for most of it but are going to do a day or so up there. I'm excited but also irrationally terrified that I'll somehow be the ONE person that goes over the edge.

Awwww, cute name @dapostrope! Glad you guys are going home. I take it the recovery is going okay?
Okay guys, I had an appointment for my windshield replacement between 8 and noon. The tech called me about 8:30 and asked if they had already brought the part that they had broken because he couldn't find it. I told him that no, they were going to bring it when they replaced the windshield again. He said he was sure it was there and would be here around 11. It's 11:41 and I haven't heard from him. I'm just going to leave my Jeep unlocked when I go eat, but I have a feeling he couldn't find the part and is avoiding me. I seriously have the worst luck.
In other news, we did get the gift card the local manager of the install company promised me, for our troubles. $100. Wow, thanks.

snoopmommymom I'm glad the termination process is behind you, but sorry your team still kinda sucks at life. People like that are so, so annoying; my dad always said, "Be a problem solver, not a problem solver". I see that in so many aspects of life, from neighborhood groups I'm in to work or social organizations. Much easier to bitch and complain than to actually offer constructive solutions.

I mean, this is embarrassing that you have been to more of these places than I have, and you live in Europe We have taken some great vacations over the years, don't get me wrong, but I do feel like I'm missing out not having seen some of this! My parents loved Yellowstone, too--they want to do a big group trip with us, my sister/BIL and all the grandkids in a few years. They said the same thing about feeling like you've gone back in time. Sounds amazing.

I’ve done Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain, Arches, and Canyonlands all in my early 20’s and would love to do it again with the family.

Back from the kids thing. Cadence got bored at this one pretty quickly and it was hot. So, she's at school and I'm relaxing at home.

Morning ladies! wedding I had a dream last night that you were in! The details are dicey, but I was at your house, I didn't know your actual name, so I just referred to you as 'wedding' the entire time. For some reason, I needed a set of sheets, so I snuck up to your bedroom and started to take yours off the bed, then realized it would be obvious that I had taken them, so I put them back, trying to get everything back exactly like it had been. I went into your closet to see if you had an extra set I could take, but couldn't find one. I found a diet coke though, so I drank all of that, then tried to hide it before I left. So weird, I have no idea what that is even supposed to mean, but hide your sheets, I guess! I'm supposed to be getting my windshield replaced again this morning. Too funny! I keep my sheets in the linen closet and my Diet Coke in the fridge. So you know for he future😉

Our idea now is we want to rent a larger car/mini van and bring our own camping gear and rent cabins from time to time. We’re planning on either starting in Boston or Washington and then heading up the coast towards Acadia. We want to stop by b&j’s factory, Woodstock New York and Cooperstown. I haven’t read past this but maybe it’s a sign we should do our great N13 meetup around this trip?!

And that’s just west, we did New England and Boston, New York and Chicago too 😜. But all kidding aside, we’ve done so much because we live far away and if you take a 14 hour flight you make it worth your while! ETA and because I/we love to travel and are fortunate enough to have 4-6 weeks off (with pay) every summer.

I’m sitting in the back of my boss’s car with a cake on my lap. It’s huge. I’m starving.
I’m trying to talk myself out of fingering the cake.

We were at Yellowstone for just a day when we drove back to WA from GA. We took a day off from driving and stayed in a tiny cabin there. The cats were freaked out (I think they smelled all the nature aka wild animals) so it was baby Madison, MH and I, and 3 cats crammed in a full-sized bed. It was beautiful even though we didn't get to explore much. I've never seen my cat Boston's eyes go as wide as they did when he saw a giant herd of moose just chilling in one of their villages.
