I cannot get on board with all of this onion hate. Me too. I LOVE onions!!! O eats onions on his pizza because i refuse to not eat them. Lol M doesn't like them if she can see them, so I have to chop them up really small.

sands42, I am trying to up my meal game as well. I feel like I'm always handing them a snack type dinner- cheese, peppers, hummus, fruit, pepperoni. I'm working on getting better at planning ahead so dinner is ready for us to eat together. Skinnytaste cheeseburger casserole, tacos, chicken lettuce wraps are some of my go to that are great leftover too. We have also been doing a lot of turkey burgers, chicken sausage, veggies, ect on the grill because it's fast. My go to lunch for myself lately is trader Joe's frozen riced cauliflower stir fry that I add chicken and siracha.

What's for breakfast sands42? Do your kids like scrambled eggs? Or oatmeal? Sometimes I try to load up on good stuff first thing. Also do you make lunches or school? We make for j and it's a bento box - half a sun butter/jelly sandwich, mini cucumbers, a fruit, raisins or prunes and a cracker. My kids rarely get dessert, but I do eat ice cream every night if it's on the house...MH recently stopped buying it😢

I’m home now safely and arranged for my dad to pick up C tonight. I feel frizzy and drained. 99.8 temp so no fever. The room spins slowly but it’s the double vision that comes out of nowhere that is concerning I also have no spacial awareness and closed my hair in my car door. I’m hoping with water, food and rest I’ll be good. The cleaning lately is her so once she leaves I can nap.

wedding - Have you started on any new medications anytime in the last few months? I had unexplained light-headedness (not the same as dizziness) for MONTHS that was triggered by a change in BCP. It kicked in about 4 months after switching so it took awhile to figure out the cause. It was the weirdest thing.

Also count me in with the meal time frustration. Only I'm not sure if I'm more frustrated with the boys or with DH! I suppose it depends on the day.

I don’t know tallb ??!! What kid doesn’t like fruit?? I fed it to her when she was a baby but now she wants nothing to do with it. It’s weird. We eat a lot of ice cream... I already decided once I start doing this you can’t have ice cream unless you at least try a couple bites. I’m just not a good cook. It’s overwhelming to me since a lot of cooking can be multitasking and I always end up messing something g up when I’m distracted fixing something else. I’m on the hunt for crock pot, sheet pan, and one casserole dish type meals. Also- I don’t like onions. Seems like everything has onions in it! It’s a texture issue- I guess I could make them large enough to pick out because I like the flavor they give...... can you see where their pickyness comes from? Lol. Sorry if this was already mentioned, but you could use dehydrated onions (you find them by the spices and has the substitute reference on them) or onion powder. I use onion in everything I cook. If it doesn’t require chopped onions, I will still add a little onion powder.

sands42 I’m here for commiseration. Cs diet is goldfish, pb sandwiches, banana, cheese stick, yogurt, waffle with pb,milk, ic creaM,chips, chicken fingers, turkey pepperoni on occasion, a wake up wrap from dunks with only cheese. So basically a cheese quesadilla. At this point I’m rolling with it and offer better alternatives all the time. The dr was fine with it. We don’t ever sit down as a family and due to a weekday schedules we can ever eat together so we are in a different plan than most.

tgrimes LOL, bonus points for reppin' John Rosemond. I'm sure it will surprise no one I take the John Rosemond tact for mealtime, as well. I'm not a short-order cook, sorry kids. :shruggy guy: They are very good eaters, though, so I guess it's worked for us. sands42 I don't make B finish anything but I do require that he take a couple bites of it, at least. There are certain foods he used to hate (green beans and mashed potatoes, for instance) that he now loves b/c I kept serving them and asking he try them. I've always heard it can take eating something 10x to truly decide whether or not you actually like it. Do you use the grill when your H is gone? My kids love grilled pork chops, bbq chicken, things like that. I try and do a protein, starch (potato, rice, similar), and a veggie, and during the summer I usually serve fresh fruit. Mine also like asian-inspired stir frys (I seriously think the draw is chopsticks...whatever works!) which is a nice way to serve veggies b/c they have a sauce that kind of adds to the flavor. Also popular here are baked sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, and any kind of Mexican or Italian (which isn't the healthiest but we all like it and something like spaghetti or tacos/fajitas/enchiladas is pretty easy).

Am I the only one who lies and tells my kid all protein is chicken? She loves chicken, so regardless of if we are actually having chicken or pork chops, I always just tell her we are having chicken so she will try it.
She will eat hamburger all day long. So I don't have to lie about that one.

mwhip, Cadence calls all meat chicken, but claims she hates all meat, so I don't have to lie about it, she's not going to eat it. LOL

Hi! Landon and Lucas are both pretty good eaters now, but Ryland is a pain is the add. He will drag out meals FOrEVER. If it something they legitimately don’t like, they have to at least try it, and if it’s stuff they do like we will make them sit at the table until bedtime. No other options and they will miss show/story time. It doesn’t usually get to that point, thank goodness. Some our go tos are chicken and avocado burritos, spaghetti, tacos, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, or just grilled chicken. The boys like broccoli so that’s the main vegetable and dh makes rice a lot. In the fall/winter I make a crockpot chicken taco chili that is so yummy and easy. In the summer I’ll do a big pasta salad a lot.

LO is a pretty decent eater. However he likes to play and do other things instead of eating. Normally I would fine with him grazing but he only has a set time at school to eat. So he's been coming home with half his lunch. So now we have a rule that once he leaves the table no more food at dinner. He's starting to realize he has to eat during lunch.
I will say there are days/weeks where he doesn't like certain things. Then later he loves it. So for us we just keep offering foods and will coordinate with foods he always likes.

I used to have to sit at the table until I was finished. Most of the time I would sit there and then pretend to fall asleep so I could go to my room.

We used to have to eat everything on our plate to get dessert. I think this lead to my being overweight as a kid, so it's something I'm not going to make Evie do. Yes, I want her to try everything, make sure she's getting the proper nutrients, but I don't think I'll ever make her finish her meal.

We are terrible eaters at my house. Pretty much every week we have pizza at least once, pasta (h only likes cheese on hers, I give S red sauce), chicken nuggets and fries and tacos. Sometimes I’ll do chicken or pork chops with a veggie and rice. I’ve also done chicken fried rice but S refuses to eat it. I wish we had a gas grill instead of charcoal, I would grill all the time.

We are currently grill-less here. We had a small gas grill before we moved that we didn't use very frequently, so we wanted to get something bigger here. I always thought charcoal tasted better than gas, no? MH his eye on something that looks like a big green egg. I think that might even be the name of it.

If they eat a reasonable amount and are actually full I wouldn’t make them finish it. We don’t do dessert very often, but if we do they definitely have to finish.

xolastunicornxo don't be intimidated by the grill. Just have patience. I love to grill and I'm much better than H at it. He overcooks everything, which drives me crazy. If I'm cooking something I'm not sure of, I just keep a knife with me. Once the juices are no longer clear, then I'll cut into chicken to make sure it isn't pink, if it's questionable. Steaks I just know how long to cook them now...it was hard a few weeks ago, the inlaws had steaks with us. I cook ours medium and FIL likes his well done. It was SO hard for me to leave it on so much longer, and still ended up being a little pink! Charcoal takes so long to get hot, I do not have the time for that when I can just flip a knob and push a button and the grill is hot and ready in about 5 minutes! We have pizza once a week and also go out to eat at least once a week. It's hard with H travelling, somedays I'm not sure if he's going to be home, so I won't set anything out to cook, then he's home and I don't have anything to make, so we end up eating out.

We have a regular gas grill but my H wants a BGE once we’re settled in FL again since they are a bear to move. Our next door neighbor here has two 😳

I was just sitting in the living room and heard a bee. Then another. My H is home so I got him cuz I’m terrofied. He’s killed 6 so far so it’s obviously a nest somewhere. Ben and I are sequestered up in his room but I am freaking out. He leaves town tomorrow and everything I’ve heard is it’s impossible to get bees out once they move in.
I want to cry.
