CNN is reporting that Bolton tried to blow up the talks with NK and thats why hes being iced out Well that's a surprise. 🙄 Who could have ever imagined that mild mannered innocent Bolton would attempt to sabotage diplomacy? It's just so out of character.

I just think Twitter needs to shut his shit down. or some sort of do you really want to post this shit interface. They legally can't. It is a statement of record of official statements of the POTUS.

I am a little confused. So no time during the season did they kneel in protest? But they are saying they did a lot for the community. So is the narrative that the Eagles did their job and played the game and off the field where politically and socially active? Because if so I didn't hear about it. It just sounds to me that they were doing what the deplorable fans were telling them to do which was "shut up and play". Am I understanding this right?

JukEboX,my takeaway from the statement was that they did not do what Trump accused them of (kneel during the anthem), but more importantly, they ARE true patriots because they devote their time to making the country a better place for everyone. The argument is that patriotism isn't about the flag, it's about loving and helping your country. That comes in many different forms, but it doesn't hinge on what you do during the national anthem.

Peter Alexander: Why is it ok for a baker to express himself but not NFL players? SHS: 1a protects against religious discrimination. PA: So if the WH supports the bakers' right to free speech, why don't you support the PLAYERS' right to free speech? SHS: This isn't a free speech issue. MILITARY! FLAG! JukEboX, most people who are truly doing charitable works aren't shouting it from the rooftops. Just because they aren't protesting on field doesn't mean they aren't in agreement with the protests, they are just finding it better to work a different way. The protests have NEVER been about patriotism, they have been about police brutality so the players (and not just the Eagles)use their time and $$ to help locally.

I agree with this but the statement to me gave me a "holier than thou" vibe. They are reveling in the fact that they didn't kneel for the national anthem in protest but instead did community service work. So its seems like they are saying is that they did protest "the right way" and didn't inconvenience the fans. Great to see all that off the field work did something but did nothing to raise awareness. Kapp used his position to raise awareness as we are still talking about it. This statement to me sounds tone def and so "matter of fact" just to get on someones good graces. I agree they were misrepresented by Fox News but I don't think they should throw their fellow players in front of the bus to make a point they are better than the rest for complying with the racist rules of the NFL.

I go a little bit further on my you're reading too deep.
We have several former BSU players who come back every year in the offseason and work with local kids, there is a softball game, there are football clinics, and a couple of other events. They are covered here locally but not necessarily nationally. So just because its not on the national stage doesnt mean they aren't raising awareness. And honestly you are typically able to get more accomplished at a local level than national.
both are equally important, but sometimes just being the quiet workhorse is just as effective.

JukEboX I can see that perspective. Admittedly, I know not a thing about the Eagles so I couldn't speak to the motivation behind the statement. that wasn't how I read it, but I can see how someone would read it that way. As you say, one could argue that they're implying that kneeling is wrong bc they are vehemently denying it.

JukEboX, yes this.
Malcolm Jenkins is arguably the leading political activist leader on this Eagles team. He has been outspoken about his disagreements with the President's policies, police brutality, and many other social issues. He's also out there in the communities, making a difference and putting his money where his mouth is. The guy has literally worked alongside white cops, to try and make them see where the black community is coming from in relation to police brutality.
He has not once knelt during the national anthem, and neither have his teammates - they made the decision as a team to not be political pawns of the POTUS when he inserted himself into the NFL this year.
It ended up happening anyway when Trump accused the team of kneeling, and staying in the locker room during the anthem. It's an outright lie. They didn't go to the WH because they think he is a shit human being.
Trump messed with the wrong city, and he messed with the wrong team, because it makes him look that much more hypocritical.

No.
I think you need to do more research into what these players have done, especially Malcolm Jenkins. He has done just as much as Kaep. He just doesn't have the name recognition.
