For those who have or have had GD, what kinds of symptoms did you experience? I sometimes feel like I'm experiencing low blood sugar and I don't know if it's I'm just not eating enough or if I'm possibly having some GD symptoms. Any thoughts appreciated swell chriskoo and any others who know! I don’t know that I really had any symptoms, but looking back, I did get very tired/headaches after higher carb meals. But that’s a pretty common reaction after lots of carbs anyway. Low blood sugar or feeling a little dizzy can just be pregnancy related.

Being at a high risk dr we go straight to the 3 hour. They don't even give the option of the 1 hour. I did mine the 5th and passed and I'm not currently anemic. Apparently I save that for after birth.

I had an OB appointment today. She was happy with my sugars (yay, no meds!). She also confirmed that the new policy is to induce everyone with GD at 39 weeks, regardless of how well controlled. I have mixed feelings but overall I’m happy to do whatever she thinks is best and relieved that I won’t go overdue again.

1 hour test tomorrow morning. Last time I had coffee w/ milk but no sugar and toast w/ peanut butter for breakfast and passed with flying colors so that's what I'll have again tomorrow. FX it works again!

For those of you that failed the 1hr, did your OB office call you to let you know if you failed? I took my test on Monday so they should have the results by now. I'm just trying to determine if no news is good news applies here.

I'm just trying to determine if no news is good news applies here. For my office if you pass they tell you at your next appointment. If you fail they call as soon as they have the results on hand. So hearing nothing so far on a Monday test would be no news is good news for me.

Failed my 1 hr. yesterday. Waiting to hear about scheduling my 3 hr. I’m disappointed, but trying to look on the bright side that maybe if I do have GD and get it under control I’ll start to feel better these final few weeks.

Good luck mirabelle on the three hour. I failed my 1 hour with DD and passed my 3 hour pretty easily so hopefully you are the same!

meggriffin I was a mess after my three hour. The phlebotomist was actually a little worried for me and kept asking if I was ok and made sure I ate before I left. I felt crappy the rest of the day, hopefully you don't have too much planned and have something yummy to eat!

Now I just hope I passed.

I just got my results for my 3 hr and I failed that too, so I officially have GD. Explains a lot of things to me in regards to my symptoms. I’m mostly nervous about getting the hang of monitoring it all.

My lab results haven't been pushed to the "Lab Results" section of my patient portal, but I just found a "Download Health Data" spot that already includes my lab results even though they haven't been released to me yet. According to that I passed my 1 hour by a lot!!
My iron is showing slightly low though so I wonder if they're going to ask me to supplement.

I'm sorry mirabelle. I've heard from a number of people that it's really not that bad once you get the hang of everything. There are a few ladies in July/August I think that have GD and they discuss it a lot. I bet you could read some good tips over there. It's only a couple more months - you've got this!!

Sorry you’re in the club mirabelle . This is my second time with GD and it’s really not that bad. I do find that I have to put more thought into what I’m eating, and sometimes even when I’m careful my fasting numbers can be a bit unpredictable. Just know that it’s temporary, and it’s better to be diagnosed so you can keep it under control and minimize effects on you and baby. The upside is an extra ultrasound or two!

I cried for a minute and then got it together, it could be so much worse. I think it may make these final few weeks go by fast because I will be preoccupied with tracking things...maybe.

They made me wait to find out I failed the one hour. I figured they would want me to know ASAP if I have GD but I am not convinced I am in the clear just yet.

No news is good news at my OB practice too, but that's weird you waited then found out you failed the 1 hour. I would think they'd want to be quick about notifying you if you have GD so FX in this case the wait means you passed!

So my doctor called today, I had slightly elevated levels after the first hour- which to me isn't surprising where I failed the one hour test. My levels for the 2 and 3 hours draws were normal, however they want to keep an eye on me. They told me I have to come back for two draws a week all summer. One draw is after fasting and the other is two hours after a meal. I also have to see a nutritionist for tips to prevent diabetes. This all seems like a lot for only not passing the one hour test. I guess I am going to get to know all the ladies at the lab real well this summer.
