I see it tonight. I will be back later with my thoughts.
Im going in with low expectations, so I won't be that upset if it sucks.

First off, I should put out there that I am really not a Han Solo fan. I think he is a pompous ass and he's not as great of a guy that everyone thinks he is. The fandom loves him, but I could take or leave him.
Secondly, I haven't seen rebels. I have read A New Dawn, and know the general gist of the series and some of the main characters. I know a little bit about Darth Maul's involvement and his back stoey. It became abundantly clear that I need to see it asap. So if I say stupid shit regarding characters that are like "duh, that was clearly explained in season 1 of rebels" then you will know why.
That being said, I enjoyed this movie. It was FUN. Not amazing, or mind blowing, but fun. I liked that. It's what I hope for in a Star Wars movie. There was just enough cheese and sass to keep me going. I laughed a lot, even at things that weren't meant to be funny, which says a lot.
I really enjoyed how this movie knocked Han down a few pegs. He didn't get the girl. In fact she betrayed him horribly. Almost all his friends died. He lost his original purpose and had to find a new place in the story. He was humbled and more human. I'm still not a huge Han fan, but at least I didn't want to punch him repeatedly in the face.
Things that I was not too fond of. These were annoyances and not enough to make me not like it.
- I kept wanting to call Crimson Dawn, Black Sun. I still fucking want to. It's annoying me.
- I didn't like how they had Dryden's last name as Vos. It made me think of my boo Quinlan and then I had all the sads.
- Qi'Ra's name is pronounced like my daughter's and not at all how I pronounced it in my head. It threw me for a loop and I found it distracting. This is obviously a me problem.
- I wish they tied in Ahsoka. Some way. Some how. I just wanted that one little thing.
-Aurra Sing's death was only fucking mentioned. WHAT?!?! That is as insulting at the Admiral Ackbar travesty. Im a huge Sing fan for some weird reason (I have no idea why really. I never read the comics. I think it was because she looked cool.) So I was like "what. The. Fuck" in the movie theater. I guarantee that will go over 80% of viewers heads too.
- I could have sworn I saw Lobot on the Spice Mines of Kessel and was waiting for him to pop up. But I may have been hoping too hard for that. I'll need to see it again.
- they killed a bunch of characters off quickly. Almost too quickly. Val's death was almost Padme like. "Well I gotta die, so I might as well blow myself up." Um... Ok then. And Beckett seemed really cool after his wife died. Like "oh, well, that's life"
Things I really liked
-L3. Pretty much everything about her. Her sass. Her wit. Her scene with Qi'Ra talking about her being into Lando was one of the funniest scenes in Star Wars hands down.
- the Droid rebellion was hilarious. Just enough chaos. It fit for a Han Solo movie.
- Qi'Ra's betrayal was pure perfection. I was like "YES!". Once again the good guys don't always win. I mean why wouldn't she. She said a billion fucking times that she had done things and she wasn't who Han thought she was. Bitch was a fighter. She knew good guys finish last when the empire is involved. My friend and I kept trying to figure out when she was going to die. But this was better. Much better.
- Darth Maul's appearance made me almost leap out of my chair. I want to know how many fans who only watch the movies were like "WHATTT???!!!!!".
- the fact that they used an actual real sword made me laugh so hard. Especially against the vibro blades. I mean, yeah, it's going to cut it in half like a hot knife through butter.
These are my first thoughts. I need to digest it some more.

sheilathetank, L3 was definitely the best. I loved that little chat. Especially the "Oh, it works" line at the end. I love that she's a part of the ship now. I thought that Donald Glover aced Lando. He even sounded like Billy Dee Williams somewhat. I loved the flamboyant outfits, the cheating attitude, etc. Qi-Ra's actions at the end made a ton of sense. She cared about Han too much to let him die, but she was also out for herself.

I saw it on opening night with MH, because he must see all things on opening night (at least Marvel and SW). I also did not go in with high expectations, which probably helped. MH is a big Extended Universe geek, and also watched follows Rebels, and he was super excited about some of the references they made and all the easter eggs. Especially Darth Maul, he was little boy giddy over that. sheilathetank I was also not happy they killed off Val and the pilot smuggler creature dude so quickly, I wanted more Thandie in the movie, and I thought the creature dude was entertaining. It was really disappointing. Donald Glover as Lando was everything, I was super happy with his performance and the way they portrayed him. It makes me look forward to the Lando movie, although I fear it will be as one-dimensional as Solo was. Loved the scene where Chewie and Han met, and the rebellion in the mine was fantastic. It was mostly a fun romp kind of movie and had very little substance or insight into Han. I suppose it will make all the purist fanboys happy because it didn't change anything or give anyone more depth, it just took mostly existing characters and gave them an adventure that was a lot of references from the originals. I didn't come out of it feeling like it was a Star Wars epic like the others, and I don't really think seeing it again would change much for me. After TLJ had so many layers and things to discuss afterward, I'm left not having a ton to say because it was pretty one-dimensional. It was fun, and decent, and ultimately forgettable.

Like a Western, but in space. But not as good as Firefly Well no, of course not. Firefly was a TV show written specifically as a space Western. It was also done by Josh Whedon, which trumps a lot. If he directed a Star Wars movie it would either reunite the fandom or it would burn down completely.

What do you guys think of the new Boba Fett announcement?
Since Solo is tanking do you think Disney will pull back on its plans to make so many movies around characters?
Are there any movies you would want to see?

I couldn't care less about it I want one of a less known character: Thrawn Ahsoka Asajj Ventress Quinlan Vos Just to name a few.

Ok, so I was thinking that if the do the Boba Fett movie they would have to have Aurra Sing and Asajj Ventress, since Aurra trained him and he had a huge falling out with Asajj.
MH says he wants a Max Rebo movie titled Maximum The Rebo. I think it would work if they brought in daft punk.

Eh, Boba Fett at least will have more to flesh out than Solo, but I'm not really excited about it.
