Tlex Vancouver is also on my list of places to go someday since I already love Seattle so much. I promise to never set foot in the city without giving you a bat signal. :::exhales::: I have a list of amazing playgrounds to tour if you and YS ever do a motherboy here! your parks always make me so jelly.

Dear H, We're going to take a vacation to visit all my internet friends. Please give me your credit card. Love, Brux If you ever come to western Europe I will make it worth your while But I wouldn't do a cruise with kids personally. I would do a place like Costa Rica.

H had the patches and ginger gum and wrist bands. He was a mess. If this was me I wouldn't even entertain the idea of cruising again. Agreed. This sounds miserable for him.

I've been researching the best ones and we are really going to ramp things up in July. We're doing little practice ones locally for the next month. Once preschool ends, it's on! And there's going to be a temporary "pop up adventure park" I'm so excited about, which is all fenced in and parents ARE ENCOURAGED TO REMAIN OUTSIDE THE FENCED AREA. It's going to be a lot of loose parts materials etc, I'm very excited. Did I mention my excitement?

I love cruises although I know they are not favored around here. I haven't done one with my kids yet but hope to next year. We've sailed with Norwegian 3 times and have been very happy with them. They have a good kids club. I want to do a Disney cruise and the main reason we haven't is because they are so expensive, but of course their kids activities seem amazing.
I'd be leery if your H has motion sickness though. At the very least I'd limit to looking into cruises that don't have any sea days, do most of the travel at night, and are at a port everyday.

Meet me there! find me a hotel with a kids pool that had some sort of water feature like a slide. My number one criteria is "something for DS to do where I can ignore him for a while."

This is a nightmare, Brux. No.
Your H will be a puke monster.
Your kid goes to bed early and you guys will be in a tiny dark room.
You will be getting a good deal to have a bad time.
No. I’m shutting this down. Back to the drawing board.

We cruised with kids—6 and 2 and it was exhausting but some of that may have been that I was in 1st tri. I did see some kids passed out with a blanket in the floor of the kids club while others were being bounced and rocked but my kids were not about that and would stay up until it shut down. The only way DH and I could see a late show was if a family member felt like going to bed early and would stay with them. All in all I would classify it as a trip not a vacation if ya know what I mean lol.

I have done a Disney Cruise every year for the last 4 years. G was only 10mo on her first cruise. We are going in August which will be her third. My sil and her two kids always come with. They have soooooooo much fun. The kids clubs are amazing. It’s super easy to bring kids on those ships and still have adult time. I have been on the wonder twice, the magic and now we are trying the dream. My bigger concern for you would be YH puking the whole time. That may make it pretty miserable.

brux, I do think Atlantis is way overpriced and that there are way, way better islands to do an all inclusive on.

I've cruised with my sister's kids as part of a wider family vacation so my observations are a little different since they weren't mine.
We were on Carnival, one of their newer ships but I forget the name. It had a kid's splash area, ropes course and a lot of activities for kids, including a kid's camp (free).
Cruising with kids in the winter (minus Christmas and New Year's weeks) is actually pretty good. Cruises in general are not as crowded because most families are in school and the passengers are a bit older (or at least mostly childless). Lines aren't terrible and the ports of call aren't shoulder to shoulder with people. The kids clubs will be fairly quiet but there should be a handful of kids so yours won't be the only ones.
In general any cruise at least 7 nights or longer won't be a "booze cruise" and if you aren't going over spring break times that chance goes down further. The newer ships on Carnival and Royal are really nice and offer more stuff for all ages. I like Royal a little more overall, but the Carnival trip was fine and a nice break from the Royal stuff because it was getting "old" since a lot of the features and meals were the same.
I don't always get seasick, but I pack seabands and Dramamine and I'm usually okay. I've found that I tend to get sick when the ship is going against a strong current at high speeds because they don't have the stabilizers engaged to keep their speed up.
When comparing prices be sure to include the fees and tips for all passengers in a cabin, sometimes the promos for "kid sails free" aren't really cheaper if they jack the prices up. You will need to tip and pay full fare for the kids (unless there is a promo of some sort) and it is recommended that you tip the workers in the kids club.
But cruises are easy vacations to do with kids, especially if they are potty trained and somewhat independent.

I love the Atlantis but it’s not an AI and I don’t think it’s great for kids until they’re a little bit older.

I may be in the minority but cruising with young kids seems like a fresh new hell. My number one kid vacation priority is a distinct, quiet sleeping place that allows DH and I to stay up and talk and drink well after the kids go to bed. Preferably both a balcony and living room.

My number one kid vacation priority is a distinct, quiet sleeping place that allows DH and I to stay up and talk and drink well after the kids go to bed. Preferably both a balcony and living room. This is why we are getting adjoining rooms when we eventually go. Put the kids to sleep in one room, we hang out in the next one, move a kid over when we want to sleep and put one adult in each room. Also both will have balconies.
