Yeah. Just like, get a job. Or, you know, do that as a hobby and try another career path.

I guess I just don't have much sympathy for people who want to be actors, singers or models when they find themselves unable to make a living on their perceived talents alone. At some point, move on from the dream. Are you suggesting I may never actually become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader?!?! Dream crusher!

I feel for the Roseanne cast and crew. So many of you guys work with Trumper assholes, but now HWood jobs are a dime a dozen and you shouldn’t take a paycheck if there’s one person in your entire organization that has different views than you? Come on now. I'm pretty sure every cast member and crew took that job knowing how she is, hoping she would dial it down long enough for the show to succeed and them to get paid.

The majority of the main Roseanne cast hasn't had any problems finding work since the first series ended. John Goodman, Sarah Chalke, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Johnny Galecki have been/will be fine.
Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishmann are....not the most talented actors out there. Typecast or not.

So I waded into bootstrap adjacent territory earlier this week and got called on it. Can someone explain it to me what exactly it entails?

I hated Married with Children, but I ❤️ Ed O’Neill, particularly as Hank the Octopus.

Yeah. Just like, get a job. Or, you know, do that as a hobby and try another career path. I mean, sometimes you have to go "all in" to pursue a dream. Maybe you had money to go to college, but you put it towards a move to HW and some acting classes or voice training. All I mean is that sometimes it's hard to just get another job unless it's a min wage type of thing.

When you haven't worked in 20+ years, it's probably time to let go of that dream as a viable source of income.

I think you were singled out for your comment b/c you felt bad for the crew but not the actors. I believe you said that they were "able-bodied" and could go and get non-acting work.

So able bodied is what it was. Not the general idea? I'm pretty sure that was the day I got laid off so I wasn't exactly feeling sorry for anyone but myself and I wasn't up for fighting

I guess my UO is I don’t really feel bad for the crew or actors. It sucks, for sure. But they never know what shows will be picked up, they are canceled all the time, etc. It’s part of the work culture in HW to be in limbo.

I get this, but at the time they weren't in real limbo since the series was renewed.

It’s a very unstable career.

You are in limbo until you aren't, and you aren't until you are.

Losing a job, any job, sucks. Whether you saw it coming or not. Is this how cynical we have become?
