I realize this is a long shot, but I am wondering if anyone has ever dealt with recurring Bartholian's Cysts?
I have had them in the past- very few and far between, but the last 8-9 months or so I have been getting them fairly frequently- maybe one every other week. They resolve fairly quickly in their own-- maybe within 72 hours, but damn they hurt like hell.
I am waiting to be active on my H's health insurance (I drop from mine 6/1) and then I will be going to my OB, but I was just wondering if anyone had dealt with this before and what the treatment/ outcome was/ is.

I've never had recurring cysts. I did have a rather large one during my first pregnancy which required doctor intervention. I can answer questions about that.

They should be able to lance that in your doctors office. If it’s really large and recurring they can pack it with antibiotic dressing.

It did require him to squeeze out the fluid back up once he made the little incisions. He sent me home with Vicodin but it wasn't really necessary after it was drained. The pain was pretty much gone and all I had to do was put antibiotic ointment on the incisions.

ETA: Oh, and there was no stitching required after having it lanced.

The numbing sucked because it burns in an obviously sensitive place. My doctor also didn't get the entire area numb so when he was applying pressure to drain it there was pain but I didn't feel any of the little cuts. And they are tiny so no stitches here either.

I have a reoccurring one as well. Mine last a few months at a time. I was nervous the first time I found it and saw my OB. She gave me a script for an antibiotic to try to reduce it. She said that it wasn’t “ripe” for lancing it.
The antibiotic didn’t work. But it did go away (pop maybe?) on its own. But now I have a new one.
Mine aren’t too large and don’t hurt, so I’m going to let it go and mention it the next time I go on.

I get recurring ones sometimes, and they are always related to big hormone changes for me, like pregnancy, post-birth, significant weight loss, starting/ending BC, or weird PCOS flare ups. Waiting out or fixing the hormone fluctuation usually stops it. I've had them lanced before too. The numbing is worse than the lancing, and I started requesting not having the area numbed first. Gross TMI under a spoiler: {Spoiler}I was getting them so frequently my doctor (at my request) showed me how to lance them myself. It sounds way worse than it is. Not that I'm suggesting that you do that too, but just to illustrate how really NBD it is!

Thanks hawkward, the first time I got one was maybe 10 years ago, and I did go to the doctor in a panic. He told me it was really NBD, but as of late I feel like it has become a big / painful annoyance so it is time to bring it up again.

I also get one, recurring but no real pattern.
When it does show up, sitz baths help when it is bothering me. My doc has never mentioned doing anything else but it doesn't cause me pain, just discomfort (rarely).

I get them too and the last time the doctor gave me an antibiotic and said if it didn't heal to come back and have a surgeon look at it. It stopped hurting after a couple of days and then came back the next week right before my period and kind of - erupted? on its own. They gross me out and are a pain in the (near) ass.
