What cartoons do you love? What do you hate? Any recs? I'm not putting anime in this. I mean we could, but I think that could be at least another thread, maybe more.
I just finished part 3 of Trollhunters and I liked what they did with it. I'm excited for the next two series as well.
Other ones I like: Avatar the last Airbender - obviously Legend of Korra - once you get past episode 6 the series doesn't suck. It gets really dark and they fuck Korra up. My little pony - cute and we'll written. I seriously love this show. The movie was a letdown though. Clone wars - haven't seen rebels yet so I can't add that. Aggretsuko - I'm not classifying this as anime. I'm pretty sure Netflix made this show specifically for me. It's awesome. We Bare Bears - just a really cute show. I binged it when I was stuck at home with a newborn and it was just mindless enough for my sleep deprived brain.
I tried to get into Dragons race to the edge, but it was pretty meh. I also can't get into Stephen Universe because the kid's voice is annoying as hell. I should try again since from what I see from the fandom it's a pretty solid show.
Adult ones: Bob's Burgers Aqua Teen Hunger Force F is for Family Rick and Morty Metalocalypse Sealab 2021
Those are just my faves. Adult swim, back when it was really good, was my jam and I watched all the shows. The more fucked up the better.

DH watches more than I do. He's obsessed with the new Voltron on Netflix.
I like watching the new Magic School Bus show with the kids. Yay science!
I love Last Airbender. Haven't tried Korra, though.
One I haven't seen in forever but really enjoyed was W.I.T.C.H.

I love the new Magic School Bus.
Peep and the Big Wide World. It truly is directed at little kids, but the writers put in enough humor for adults, too. Quack makes me laugh my ass off.

I miss Daria.
Bob's Burgers was pretty good, from what I remember.

I love Miraculous Ladybug. No shame in my game. And I generally like the fandom as well. I don't mind Max Steel but it's a little intense for my DS so we don't watch it.
H just got me addicted to Futurama since he saw you can get the early seasons on amazon prime. I don't think I've laughed that hard at an adult cartoon since Bob's burgers. I do like early family guy but I can't pinpoint where they started trying too hard and I started not liking it.
And in today's episode of Things Pianolove Has Learned From HIH...there is a new Magic School Bus show?!?!

At least that's what the millions of posts on my Pinterest feed tell me. Is yh a klance fan?

MH and I are like that with Peppa Pig. It's hilarious and the shade that is thrown at daddy pig by mommy pig is brutal. I'm pretty sure that show is one big British troll. Bob's burgers is still on and still as funny as ever.

Missed this thread earlier.
I'm mainly an anime person but some non-anime stuff I've enjoyed: Star Wars: Clone Wars Star Wars: Rebels Avatar: The Last Airbender The Legend of Korra RWBY
I also like to watch some international (non-anime) animated movies. My favorite of those is Song of the Sea (an animated movie done by Cartoon Saloon, based in Ireland) - highly recommend.

I'm nodding along to several of these. Yes to A:TLA and Korra. Voltron Legendary Defender (the reboot) is written by the same or some of the same team, I think (H ships Hunk and Pidge ;D).
Also yes to Miraculous Ladybug and Steven Universe. Steven actually gets really deep when it does a lore episode and it makes for some great theory fodder. You get used to his voice.
I really enjoyed Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, and Bravest Warriors. Would consider myself a part of each of their fandoms. Bee and Puppycat, too. Can you tell I'm a fan of Pendleton Ward much? Regular Show makes me laugh, The Amazing World of Gumball is cute, supposedly Teen Titans GO! has some good episodes according to MrRama.

Bumping this to say we watched The Hollow on netflix and it wasn't bad. It kept us watching with a lot of "wtf is going on." I can't say a lot else I'll spoil it, but basically 3 teens wake up in a room and have no idea who they are and how they go there. The series is one giant puzzle. Given the ending I'm interested to see where they will go with it next season.

Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Teen Titans, it was a solid show with good story lines and character development. Teen Titans GO! is an abomination, and between that and the new power puff girls it's the only thing on cartoon network most of the time.

See, I thought the same thing, but MrRama says that it's pretty self-aware with how cringy it is sometimes. They have a whole episode about how they're a "reality TV" show based on the original TT show; it's pretty amusing.
Mind you, I'm still dubious, but I'll cop to being turned off because it's not filling my nostalgia meter instead of being an actual garbage show. shrug

Rama, I'm jaded because a lot of cartoons suck now. Add to the lack of Saturday morning cartoons and there is no incentive to make good shows anymore. In other news Hey Arnold! released a movie last year and we should be getting a Rocko's modern life movie sometime this year.

I'm so late to this, but sheilathetank, Steven's voice drops a fair amount after season one, which helps. He still sounds like a kid for sure, but not as babyish after that first season. The show is totally worth checking out. I watch a lot of cartoons/animated stuff: Steven Universe, Bob's Burgers, Archer, Venture Bros, Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop, Gravity Falls, Futurama MH's studio is also doing a new show for Netflix based on a comic (Hilda). It comes out in the fall and I'm pretty stoked to check it out.

Adding to this list Zig and Sharko. It is a French cartoon but has no dialog, so that is irrelevant. Supposedly it's on Netflix. It's basically about a hyena trying to eat a mermaid and the shark constantly trying to save her. It's ridiculous, but actually enjoyable to watch as an adult or with my kids.

Is it geared towards kids or adults? Like Peppa pig is a kids show but there is so much snark it can almost be for adults. Is it like that?

It is meant for kids, but a little older than the Peppa pig crew, I think. At least for most. I let mine watch (2.5 and 4.5) but they've also seen the old stars wars and first 3 Harry potters, etc. It reminds me of like Tom and Jerry meets SpumCo.

I am glad you put anime on there. I wasn't sure if we were going that far. Let me add the following:
The Simpsons: I AM OBSESSED with this show. I have been watching it since I was 3 or 4 and have been a fan ever since. It is the longest running cartoon series of all time and still pushes limits. Futurama: The best Matt Groaning show and I might argue best written cartoon that has been on TV. I wish it would come back. Archer: I mean c'mon its archer. Zoids: Chaotic Universe: The first Zoids Universe show which was awesome to watch to drive giant animals. Gundam Wing: The most in depth and complicated Gundam Series G-Gundam: The World Cup of Gundam Battles. Great Teacher Onizuka: Watch and see Tenchi (Universe, All of it): Just a fun show of crazy people Yu Yu Hakashow: Let the battle begin Family Guy: Still a great show now and then. American Dad: Watch it over from the beginning and you will see why it is so funny.
Oldies I still Watch: Hey Arnold: Because who didn't want his room. Invader Zim: The kids show that was too grown up for kids. Ren & Stimpy: The original nick toon that was just all over the damn place and hysterical. Rocket Power: Just a fun show about playing outside. It makes me want to go outside and play. Doug: THE ORIGINAL not the DISNEY REBOOT. Just a normal show about a kid. Also an original Nick Toon. Reboot: One of the first computer animated cartoons about living in a video game.
I will add more as I remember them.

Tenchi (Universe, All of it): Just a fun show of crazy people OMG, Tenchi. That was my first foray into anime beyond the English dub of Sailor Moon that I watched as a kid. It is the craziest show. It will always have a place in my heart.
