Guys you can't let your kids go to grocery stores alone anymore. According to R-Diane Black from TN, the reason for schools shoots is because of "people are apparently able to buy pornographic materials in supermarkets." This she brought forth after a meeting with other political and religious leaders. Also the destruction of the family unit and violent movies are also the cause of school shootings according to her. Also dc2london she is filing a bill to setup a GoFundMe to pay for Trump to build the wall. LOLWUT? Diane Black is nuts, but sadly, I think she has a chance to be governor of Tennessee. Between her and Randy Boyd, I'm not sure who would be worse.

I know this bc I helped get Wegmans to take them down.

I drive past a huge ass pink billboard every day that claims Cosmo is porn and hurts kids. So far, ours aren't covered like that, though occasionally, I'll see someone has gone through and turned them around.

I haven't researched it, but I saw on Twitter that 45 wants to quit importing German cars altogether and that at least 11,000 Americans are employed by German car companies.

We've flown with our under two daughter twice round trip and have been required to provide her birth certificate each time (so 4 times). I can't speak to why she wasn't asked before but it is federal policy for a child that age to need a birth certificate to board a plane.

Ben Sasse on Tariffs "this is dumb...Make America Great Again shouldnt mean Make America 1929 again" Enough with the bullshit statements from feckless Republicans. They need to back this shit up with oversight. I am so fucking angry this morning. The gaslighting, the destruction of America’s institutions and our position in the world is too much. The GOP has got to go. They are complicit in that fucker’s crimes. I just can’t.

I've flown with my kids domestic US and international so many times both alone and with another adult and never once have been asked for a birth certificate. Eta- under the age of two as I didn't clarify this before. both had made 3 Transatlantic trips by 2.

Lap children almost always require a birth certificate to prove identity and age, and Southwest is really strict on their policy. I’ve flown with 2 kids under two and every time on SW they required it. Only once with another airline did they not. I think if you had a seat for the under 2 yo, you might not need to prove it though. My 2 yo now doesn’t need identification, even with SW.

I'd actually be interested to know if this was the first time she and her son were flew them. Also if the other family she questioned flew them and dealt with the same flight attendant. Obviously consistancy across the board is crucial, especially since this policy was implemented to specifically combat child trafficking but I'm just not sure her claims of racial bias as laid out in the article, hold up. In short I need more info before I'm going to get indignant on her behalf.

Huh. I've flown with both of my kids several times, both as lap kids and in their own seats and never once was I asked to provide their birth certificates. I had them, just in case, but was never asked. I wasn't flying SW, though.
Always domestic flights.

I also never flew Southwest, but wasn't required for me on Delta, United or any foreign airlines I've flown. Crazt I've had such different experiences. And I always did lap babies for under 2.

I think this is a newer policy, so depending on how old your kids are, it may not have been a requirement at the time. My daughter is 18 months and the experiences I'm referring to were last August and November, so fairly recent.

The last time I flew with a kid was last August. ETA: And the kid was a lap baby for those flights.

We've always traveled with a birth certificate and have had lap children (even last year) and I've never been asked for identification for them. Also, why would you need to prove it for a lap child, but not for other children flying with you? Does that even make sense?

The birth certificate thing is standard from what I’m told I agree that that was incredibly strange but it sounds to me like the flight attendant was trying to get them on the plane using a different way to verify the child's identity. Obviously I don't think that should have happened, they should have just stuck to their policy even if it meant they missed their flight.

Also, why would you need to prove it for a lap child, but not for other children flying with you? Does that even make sense? I think airlines want it simply to prove the age of the kid because 2 yo and 1 day old means they get more money for a ticketed seat. Identity just because they attach a ticket to my ticket with the baby’s name. I know southwest has implemented it for years because we flew with my daughter SW when she was a lap infant 2 years ago. My most recent with SW and my DS was Feb and I still got asked for it. I think I got asked on our AA leg too. ETA: this same feb trip my 2 yo with her own seat neither airline required to see her identification even though we had her passport just in case. That is why I think it’s purely $ driven to prove age.

Yes this makes me wonder if it is actually just policy for certain airlines and not federal guidelines? Mostly I'd just be concerned nobody is stopping me if that is supposed to be a law. And my kids are 4.5 and 2.5 so not very old.
