And if you watch the video the cop goes from 0 to 60. Tases and immediately arrests him for resisting arrest.
This is why there are no charges. Resisting arrest is frequently used by police to control the situation, but not because there is any actual danger or resistance. Simply because they can.

My first thought at the time in January was "Thank goodness he wasn't shot" and then it sank in how truly fucked up that is. That I'm grateful he was "only" tasered.
This video makes the cops look even worse.

This is near-ish to me and when the story broke I was nervous. Nervous because of the Sherman Park riots after the murder of Sylville Smith. When I woke this morning the first thing I did was turn on the tv to see if there was violence overnight, and relieved to hear there wasn't. The president of the Milwaukee Bucks had this to say about the city back in May: ""Very bluntly, Milwaukee is the most segregated, racist place I've ever experienced in my life. It just is a place that is antiquated. It is in desperate need of repair and has happened for a long, long time. One of our messages and one of our goals is to lead by example." He has vowed to stand by Sterling Brown in his civil suit against MPD. Maybe now white people will pay attention if it means losing their precious basketball team.

"Morales says officers "acted inappropriately" and that those officers had recently been disciplined. He says he's "sorry this incident escalated to this level."" So basically he's sorry that the victim this time was famous and it made the national news so they had to do something...

Fuck the fucking MPD. The have a long history of this. One of my very BFF is a hardworking honest Sgt for them. And she’s been disciplined- you know, for refusing to lie (in a roundabout way) . She’s got a hard job, and this shit just makes it harder and more dangerous. Morales is not the man for the job.

I briefly dated a guy who had been a cop in my college town and was forced out after reporting on corruption in the department. It was gross.
