So, we got orders to VA. I told DS1 and he's excited but also upset about leaving his friends. We gave him a little notebook to take to school, and all his friends have been leaving him notes and drawings in it. We've also started reading some books about the area to give him ideas of what he wants to see when we get there in a couple months. We're kicking around the idea of homeschooling next year. H's job will have him gone more than a third of the year every year for the next three years, so it would be nice to have the travel flexibility, etc. I actually just got done hanging out with a friend's homeschooling group, and what they had to say was pretty interesting. I'm kinda sorta freaking out. This particular assignment was very unexpected. It's going to be huge for H, but also a lot of changes. I'm excited but also hate the idea of being so far from my parents since my dad's COPD has been worsening. I'm like the dog in the burning room gif right now. QOTW: We're hanging out with my oldest brother's family at my parents' house. I'm going to take DS1 horseback riding

hawkward - That's exciting and terrifying news It's tough moving away from family, but it sounds like this is a great move for you guys. I moved a lot when I was young and adjusted fine - I'm sure DS1 will, too. Also, VA is a bit away from me, but the homeschooling community is huge around here. I'm sure you'll find local resources and groups if you have questions. {{hugs}}

enchanted, oldbaylover1024, thanks, ladies! We've gone further for longer, but having the boys this time makes it feel more real, ya know? That, and the quick turnaround! Normally, we have closer to six months to plan.

Nothing really new to report here. J doesn't have homework anymore so that's exciting for her LOL
Her mouth is out of control these days. The attitude and tone are impressive for such a young person. Lloyd help me... I know I'm in for it.
QOTW: I'm going to see my mom on Sunday and be her designated caretaker for the day. MH is taking the kids to his sister's house for a cookout the same day. Other than that, just hanging out at home and gettin' stuff done. Our yard needs some work. It's rained here 12 of the last 14 days, so the backyard is more jungle than yard.
