J drank some WCM straight last night out of an open cup, alternating between milk and water.
We are waiting until after his 1 year appt tomorrow and starting in the toddler room next week to change anything at daycare, so I've been extra whiny about each pumping session this week. When we are home together I am only skipping the two nursing sessions before lunch and dinner and he gets super excited to nurse now.

So far N has tried almond/coconut milk blend and unsweetened pea milk. She likes the almond/coconut a lot better. I may try WCM when we get back from FL.

H warmed up some WCM in a bottle and J gulped it down. After discussing with his pediatrician I am ready to quit pumping - I will pump as needed to wean off but am not planning on sending any to daycare starting Monday when he starts in the toddler room. I’m excited.

J drank 18 oz of WCM warmed up in bottles at daycare. I was shocked at how much he drank and had to double check that it wasn't formula.

Woohoo piratecat! I’m sure that’s a huge weight lifted! DS decided over the Memorial Day holiday weekend that he was just done with bottles. Straight up refused them like a switch was turned off. We tried the Zoli Bot weighted straw cup, and he didn’t want that either. He’ll suck down a smoothie through a straw cup (we have a Skip Hop stainless steel one), but he won’t drink milk through a straw. Today we tried the stainless steel Munchkin 360 with BM in it, and he accepted that. He didn’t drink a ton like he used to with the bottle, but it’s better than nothing! He has the small plastic 360 cups with handles for water. I’m down to 2 pumping sessions at work, and I have time time blocked for the next few months. I’m using our freezer stash for smoothies. No immediate plans to introduce WCM because we don’t buy it. We have full fat yogurt and cheese though.

Catching up on this thread and thank you! I have been trying to figure out how to wean my pumping since DS self-weaned off BFing about 4mo ago. I’m also amazed at all the different types of milk that exist LOL. I’m hoping to start mixing WCM and BM so he gets used to the taste. How quickly are you guys switching the mixing? Every couple days?
I cannot wait to be done torturing my nipples!!

I did half and half the first time once at home but then had daycare switch cold turkey the week after his first birthday and he did fine. He doesn’t drink as much at home but drinks like a champ at daycare. 🤷🏻♀️

For his final bottle, I think we did half and half a couple days. Pretty sure he gave up formula because we tried going back to gentlease and now we know he never outgrew his MPI

DS was originally set to move to the toddler room on Sept 4. It's now been pushed back to Oct 1 (which is super fine with me!). He turns 1 on Sept 9, and we'd planned to switch to sippy cups of milk when he transitioned. His teacher today mentioned that kids who stay past 1 in the infant room sometimes won't take their sippy because they see other babies with bottles still. Thoughts on this? Should we keep with bottles of BM/WCM until he goes to toddlers? Every kid is different, so he may be totally fine. But he's also the kid who does a happy dance and screeches whenever he sees a Dr Brown's bottle come out of the kitchen at school, even when it's not his...

DD started sippy cups while still in the infant room at daycare. She wasn't bothered, and DH offered a bottle a few weeks after the switch and she totally refused to take it. She was also the kid who would go to the fridge when she knew it was time for her bottle at daycare. I think the flow was a lot faster with the sippy cup and she just liked it a lot better. So I think it's worth a try. If he refuses, then you keep bottles for another month.

gingy, I would have them give it a try and see how he does with it. And it wouldn't be a big deal if he had to get bottles for another month. Says the person whose 14 MO just switched to the sippy at daycare yesterday.

We’re still in the infant from (ages 3-18 months). Both my kids took sippy cups just fine while the younger ones took bottles
