I pumped with the medela freestyle then one day some months ago hardly got anything pumped. Thought first i was having a crap boob day but same day after etc. So i figured it was maybe the pump?? Or parts of. Had it checked and it was still pumping fine. Glad i had that checked before buying parts cause medela isnt cheap. I was about to give up pumping but I got to borrow and try a different and suddenly I pumped a ton again. So it seems my boobs decided to start hating the medela.... i caved and invested in a new pump. A horrigen chicture (sp?). Thought my insurance covered most of it but they denied ugh. End of random story! I’m glad you figured out the pump was the issue! It didn’t even occur to me 🤦🏻♀️ I’m thinking of trying the pumps at work- they’re Ameda ones. It’s getting ridiculous. The tubing and membranes won’t arrive til Wednesday but my boob was rock hard this morning and I got more out handexpressing than with the pump! Oof. I also started having issues with a medela pump with DD1 but it was the pump in style model. I switched to the freestyle and ended up pumping till 14 months with it. I have the spectra 2 this go around and have liked it so much better. Pumping is such a PITA but especially when it’s not working right ugh. I have noticed I have to be positioned certain ways like leaning forward and actually making a seal around the flanges at this point because my boobs have shrunk and even the small size ones seem too big 😂 I will not be pumping till 14 months this go around. Lol

Lol That’s the one I have- the instyle advance! 🤔 it seems silly to try a new one now. Hmmm. I think I have the freestyle a friend gave me somewhere but I need to buy tubing for it. I might do that and try it. 🤔 ETA: and yes! I have to lean forward to get a good seal and it’s killing my back. Between pumping and N only sleeping in bed with us lately my back is aching. I feel so old lol

Those who are breastfeeding/pumping when do you plan on stopping since we’re almost at a year old.

I planned on letting her self wean like my first but it looks like I'm likely going to have to go on Humira so will probably wean her right around a year old. Not my preference but it is what it is. I will probably start reducing pumping around 11 months or so. MH said she has been taking less milk while I'm working so that concerns me a little since she still seems a little young but maybe that is just my emotions getting the best of me, lol.

Oh right, I forgot you needed to get on that medication soon. Bummer that has to be the deciding factor for you, but it’s great you’ll make it a year! I think I’ll let A wean, but he loves to nurse soooo much I’ll probably start to wean him myself at 18 months.

I think maybe I'll let her self wean? I have a lot of milk in the freezer that I'm looking into donating. She hates bottles with a fiery passion.

DD1 self weaned at 18 months although it was gradual a couple months leading up to it.
