If we're eating and don't give C something she freaks out. So just giving finger foods is significantly easier than purees. This what we’ve ended up doing. The girls were not patient enough for me to spoon feed them, so they just eat whatever we are eating now. It’s amazing how much easier it is! I pureed EVERYTHING (including chicken) with DS according to "the schedule" ie liquid thin in the beginning and slowly progressively getting thicker with texture. I will say he is not a picky eater. I also introduced one new food every 3 days or whatever ridiculous thing I read at the time With DD1 I essentially skipped purees and went to BLW and did one food at a time and only non processed food. DD2 gets whatever we're eating, processed or no. Fully seasoned. Sorry kid, third baby problems. SaveSave

Gave C a pure pouch today and she crushed it. A+ straw skills, baby!

Dd2 doesn't really care for soft stuff, purees, mashed potatoes, watermelon. She loves meat in all forms and recently discovered a passion of bowtie noodle alfredo.

DD has even been doing okay at feeding herself and not whining, so I might even start feeding her at the same time as we eat 😒 If we're eating and don't give C something she freaks out. So just giving finger foods is significantly easier than purees. I meant that I prefer to eat while she's sleeping 😂 I like to focus on my food!

Especially since DS has decided we should “share.” He has something delicious, like awesome Mac n cheese from the bbq place and I have a crappy iceberg lettuce salad because I am trying to watch carbs. And he wants mine. Ugh.

We took dd out for dinner last night, spur of the moment and half an hour before her regular bedtime 😬 she ate a bunch of grapes in umm eighths 🙄, pulled pork and a chunk of pizza. I'll see if I can upload the pizza eating video.

The girls are still getting purees at school, but we are trying small amounts of solids at home. I think they’d eat more if I fed it to them, but i’m trying to let them do it themselves for hand eye coordination. The other night they had chicken and smashed peas. They really liked it - which was great because DS did not like meat. Tonight will be some more chicken and sweet potatoes.

PDQ because I'll delete later but, uh... this is an allergic reaction, right?
*poof*
He didn't have anything new except blackberries and rosemary sourdough, but he's had sourdough and rosemary separately, so it's unlikely that it's either of those. It MAY be eggs since I've had some suspicions off and on that eggs don't sit well.

We're waiting to be seen. The rash has mostly gone away aside from a few of the hives but whatever it was just shot through his GI tract. We are waiting, which suggests it's not imminently threatening. I suspect we will leave here with advice to watch him if it happens again, maaaaybe à referral to allergist. 🤷♀️
Glad the reaction stopped at chest hives. We'll see what happens now.

My husband is here in pyjamas and his hair in a ponytail. I'm only mildly embarrassed. 😂

Here that would definitely warrant a referral to an allergist hives (especially on multiple parts of the body ie face and chest) plus diarrhea is a two system reaction. I missed the picture but I'm glad you took him in! Children's Zyrtec can be used if there's a one system reaction (longer lasting than children's benedryl).

We were sent home with a prescription for an epipen and instructions to get the referral for an allergist from our family doc. She's not convinced it's an allergy versus a sensitivity to acid, but the potential two-system involvement means we are checking it out just in case. She also told us to avoid blackberries since they're really the only new things he had.

Be sure to look into the auviq for the EpiPen (EpiPen Jr isn't the right dosage for these little guys -- but auviq makes the correct dosage, we just had to special order it through the allergist or pediatrician). Fx it isn't an allergy!!

misskilljoy I’m glad the reaction resolved quickly. Hopefully you can get in with an allergist just to know for sure one way or the other. I missed the picture but DS2 breaks out from high acidic foods. I wouldn’t describe it as looking like hives and it’s limited to places of contact only so I feel like that is less likely what happened with your little one. If it is that though and not an allergy, our dermatologist suggested Vaseline on his face prior to acidic foods and we haven’t had a problem since.

Yikes misskilljoy, glad it didn't get any worse. DD ate an entire egg scrambled with kale. Scrambled egg is one thing she just devours! Any other suggestions for similar things she might enjoy? She's also been liking the yogurt and fruit pouches frozen and then thawed a bit. Baby smoothie.

C has been devouring deli meat lately. I think turkey slices are basically her favorite new food.

If it is that though and not an allergy, our dermatologist suggested Vaseline on his face prior to acidic foods and we haven’t had a problem since. I smushed a blackberry and put it on a spot on the back of his leg this morning for a few minutes with no reaction, so I don't think it was acid/contact. He also didn't have any reaction on his hands/arms yesterday despite being COVERED in food. But then yesterday the hives never spread to his back or legs, they were limited to places he realistically may have touched while eating (he was shirtless because he was having messy food, so he may have touched his chest). 🤷♀️ The hives were obviously hives, though, and super itchy. Picking up the epipen today and I found a list of foods in the same family of allergens as blackberries so that I can watch him if he has those. Thanks for the well-wishes, ladies! He's all good now.
