He sure loved his ice cream today. 😂 wouldn’t let go. He only got maybe 10 licks and I let him suck on the end of come when the ice cream was gone.

cdnfarmgirl, dd likes ice cream too. Also, ice cubes. Sometimes I wonder if she's one of those kids you used to see on like Maury where they can't feel hot or cold. She loves cold things and always wants to hold DH's coffee cup and suck on the edge. rooskie, he's so cute! Sometimes I think my dd seems full too. I feel like she's starting to space out her nursing a bit more already. Today was fun, she had banana and yogurt for breakfast (again, like the tiniest amounts, doesn't really seem hungry at that time). We went out for brunch, so she got mum mum dipped in tomato sauce, pineapple, orange and watermelon (which she did not like). Tonight we were at a friend's for a bbq and we brought food, but DH ended up giving her a bunch of hummus (it was pretty plain, not too garlicky) and let her gnaw on some raw veggies. She ended up spitting it up a bit, but I think that's fine.

I’m looking forward to solids because I think ds will be. Well, except for the spraying of the cloth diapers. I’m guessing we will get the ok at 6 mo.

L is eating purees at night for dinner with us. He LOVES them. We've been doing them for about 3 weeks now and I think we will now add it bites of what we are eating too. He has pretty good coordination and the strongest dang jaw so I think he'll be a champ. E was eating what we eat by 6 months. We haven't been sending any purees to the sitter though, just at home. We will probably start that soon too. No pic of him eating but ummm cute .

We tried apples today after daycare. His last bottle was 2:40 and I fed him at 5 but he ate a little over half the container so I’m thinking it’s a favorite.

I took a photo the other day. She ate about half of these peas, half of this piece of egg and about two inches of noodle in tiny bits... She eats such a small amount sometimes, even when she likes it!

Does Dole Whip count as a puree?😁 I had some the other day at the beach and she ate about 1/3 of my cup.
Other than that, basically everything and anything only when we are already eating, usually just at dinner. She loves sweet potato, oranges, chicken, and broccoli. My biggest deterrent from doing it more often is the mess. Ain't nobody got time to clean up after this still-working-on-her-coordination baby 3 times a day.

Yesterday was good. Yogurt for breakfast, then the same thing for lunch and dinner: tiny bits of chicken in some green veggie and pear puree. It took her a bit to get used to the texture, but then she liked it. I also gave her some steamed sweet potato pieces and she fed herself a bit. And then woke up to a diaper full of poop, damn this solid food.

We tried quite a few things this weekend. He seems to like most of the purees. Even peas! which I am shocked about. We gave him some eggs Sunday and he like them and no reactions so far so that's good. I need to give him some peanut butter and see how he does, hopefully this weekend.

I'm impressed with babies doing the BLW right now... C seems to choke on anything even remotely chunky. She choked on mashed banana, and even on the mum mum crackers, so i have to watch her carefully with those. I think she just doesn't understand how to take small bites... No idea where she gets that (it is from me).

Same here thatgolfb. C does fine with purees but nothing else so far. I gave him a cucumber stick to chew on and he gnawed off the smallest piece and ended up gagging and throwing up. Same thing happened when my MIL gave him a tiny piece of bread.

N had a couple small bites of chicken tonight. He mostly laughed and drooled everywhere. Even though I’ve been giving him some real food, he still seems confused as to what he is supposed to do. He did better tonight than he had been so hopefully it’s coming around.

Yeah it's a slow process for us too! I try some chunks and finger food every other day or so. Today was cheese sticks, blueberries and Cheerios. She got down a piece or two of Cheerios, but gagged pretty bad on the cheese. Yesterday I had given her small bits of cheese and she liked it. This looked good though, haha. Yesterday she also had some ground beef bits in puree, but I think ground beef is tricky, it's dry.

Tiny pieces are usually why they tend to gag and throw up. They are trying to swallow it. They need to learn to take bites and pieces off. That’s why with BLW they say finger sized pieces. So all toast I give N, I cut it lengthwise. Same with pancakes, sweet potatoes, carrots etc. Choking and gagging are very different. Gagging is normal. It’s their way of figuring out how to swallow and get Food out if necessary. N loves spaghetti. That’s his favourite. Wasn’t a fan of oranges today. Yogurt was a hit or miss depending on what went in his mouth. I give him pre-loaded spoons and then see what he gets.

That's so crazy cdnfarmgirl! I'm pretty sure dd couldn't handle that at all. I'll consider you my personal BLW consultant though and ask, how about the size of those cheese pieces I have on dd's tray, too small/skinny? They are more like... matchsticks, not fingers. When I give her chicken, I give her more of a finger size, but I thought cheese might be too sticky if she got a big chunk off. She tends to just shove it in on account of mediocre coordination.

The finger sized foods are easier to grab. So while those match sticks are fine from a safety point of view, they might be hard for her to coordinate.

blabbermouth, sorry. Just saw this now. I personally would do them bigger but mostly just so he can grab them. Like snuff said, you want them bigger or smaller than airways.

DD ate a whole yogurt cup yesterday 😲 I had to scrounge her some food at my mom's house.
For lunch she had some turkey, tomato and cheese from my sandwich, she ate quite a bit.

DS2 is still very much in purees, despite him being one of the older kids in the bunch. I have to give him dairy for the first time so I'm a little nervous. Anyone have a yogurt they recommend? Peanut free Also, the past couple days, he refused butternut squash, loved apple/squash/zucchini mix, sweet potatoes, pear/blackberry, apple/blueberry. The kid hasn't met a fruit puree he doesn't like. He hates pumpkin, green beans, and butternut squash. *shrugs*

Last night at a party she ate feta cheese, tomato and cracker 😬 I gave up on the whole introducing foods slowly thing (as long as it isn't a high allergen food). We are mostly in purees because H wasn't sitting up well enough until recently. I usually feed a puree then throw some food on his tray to practice with. I give him bits of anything we are having for dinner, sometimes before sauced and salted to watch the sodium. I made us vegetable lo mein so H had some of the plain spaghetti, edamame, corn, and peppers that had been sauteed in sesame oil. In the morning he'll have a yogurt and we'll share some fruit, kiwi was a big hit. I made some banana "pancakes" that are just a mashed banana with an egg and cooked like a pancake. So far the only things he doesn't like are green beans and peas but he'll eat them when mixed with other things.

Bumping this up, tell me what your kids ate this weekend. Be specific 😂 I'm dropping the ball. Last night at a party she ate feta cheese, tomato and cracker 😬 Friday: wedge of honeydew melon, handful of strawberries, bread, salmon, slices of pepper, slices of cucumber, puffs, teefies Saturday: scrambled eggs, toast, pepper slices, cucumber slices (you'll notice a pattern...), teefies, puffs, strawberries (we went berry picking, we have a LOT of berries to eat, LOL) Sunday: naan, banana bread, yogurt, peanut butter sandwich, tomatoes, pepper/cucumbers Today: ham, berries, spaghetti, chicken, potatoes, banana bread, puffs - we didn't feed him much today, it was a crazy day I give him food basically whenever I'm eating and he generally just gets things off my plate.
