Ok I'll start.
I liked the book overall.
Although it killed me that Tabitha wouldn't admit to even her best friend that her world was falling apart. I think she was resourceful in the way she was able to obtain food and personal items needed for her kids and herself.
I had a real issue with her daughters leg. To the point I started googling what could be wrong with it. I understand how hard it is to go to the doctor and have to pay out of pocket but I, as a mom, feel that she should have taken her daughter in a lot sooner than she did. I was so concerned that something horrible was wrong and that her daughter was going to lose her leg.
I found when Tabitha went to visit the old woman to be fun, light hearted and funny at times. She found a friend in an unlikely place and didn't have to put on a front of who she was supposed to be. I liked that Tabitha was caught in her confessions too by the woman. Did anyone else figure out that the old woman was the mom of the man Tabitha was talking too? I figured it out about the halfway thru the book.
I felt her husband was a coward for just walking away from his family. Not only just walking away from his family but from life in general. Then to show back up, homeless and broke and expect her to trust him in their lives again. I felt this part of the story was kind of a let down because putting myself in his position, I feel it would have taken a lot more than a past relationship to have me walking out on my family.
Overall, I felt this was a good easy read. The story kept me wanting to come back to find out what would happen next.

I was excited to participate again but didn't make it through this one before the loan was up at the library and it couldn't be renewed. I had a hard time getting into it for some reason, but that could have just been because life was busy. I want to see what everyone else thought because maybe I'll come back to it once it's available.

I'm late to the discussion...
I 100% appreciated Tabitha's resourcefulness and willingness to do whatever she could think of in order to provide for her children, but honestly the whole premise made me mad. Dad disappears and there's literally NO access to anything, no bank account, no providing for the kids? Like I can't imagine my H, regardless of any past disasters, just leaving us high and dry with NOTHING and no word/no contact. A) I would have been PISSED and talked to whomever I could to try and make sure my kids were taken care of - especially when help is offered - and B) I never would have pretended that everything was fine.
I did enjoy it overall, and found it pretty easy to get through quickly.
